The Rules of Attraction (2002)
Not bad at all
Plot spoiler warning.....From reading some of the other comments I thought I'd hate this film but I ended up actually quite enjoying it, though some scenes were hard to watch. The suicide of Sean's secret admirer was one of those scenes and throughout the rest of the film I was waiting for him to realise it was her who had wrote the letters, but he never did and the fact he never realised how she felt or that she even existed was a bitter pill to swallow. The central characters in this movie are hard to understand and difficult if not impossible to like but I think that's how they are meant to be and the fact is, they know it too. I'm still thinking about Rules of Attraction days after first watching it so I guess some issues really hit home. How ever much we like to pretend, life can be a b***h and people that shallow really do exist.
Ricky 6 (2000)
Excellent
I loved everything about this film. It totally surprised me by being a million times better than I thought it was going to be. Vincent Kartheiser does a fantastic job as Ricky, making you feel sympathy for a character who could easily have been very unlikeable. The story is told from the viewpoint of Ricky's best friend, Tommy, and the subject-matter of murder and Satanism is handled very capably, with a great deal of understanding for Ricky as an ill-fated and misguided youth. I can't believe this film has not had an official release..it's one hell of a trippy, emotional and unmissable experience.
The soundtrack is great too - I'm off to listen to some more Iron Maiden.
