A Christmas Story Christmas (2022)
The Perfect Sequel
IF you grew up watching "A Christmas Story" from the 80s then this movie will hit perfectly. It is genuinely funny, and still very touching. True to the same style and feel of the original (hell, the same actors), I can't think of any notes.
The characters stay true, and the film makes intelligent use of flashback cuts to help the viewer remember certain plot threads from the original. The narration-style is identical, and done to perfection. And now I must write 16 more characters.
Again, won't hit the same if you haven't seen the first one, but if you fondly remember the 1983 classic, then you can't. Miss. This.
Lightyear (2022)
I don't think these people get it.
It was exactly what it was SUPPOSED to be. Funny nods to those of us who played NES and loved Star Wars. Accessible for kids. The cat was the comic relief, but this isn't a comedy (duh). It's heartfelt, fun, and cheesy in the right places.
Pixar never fails to deliver, and this is no exception. The CGI is obviously great, and as a sci-fi nerd I was impressed by the design of some of the spacecraft and other structures. But again, it's not a sci-fi movie. Lightyear is fun for adults and hopefully an exciting first-time space adventure for kids.
Not sure if people downvote because a) they think they're watching a comedy or b)watching a science fiction movie or c)have no attention span.
You people really ought to manage your expectations.
Firestarter (2022)
Don't let these clowns fool you.
This movie is exactly what it's meant to be. Campy, fun, pyrotechnic awesomeness. I don't know who was expecting Shakespeare but fans of the genre should make some popcorn and check it out!
Kid 90 (2021)
First world problems
I will concede that everyone has their own story and trauma. I congratulate those of us that overcome obstacles.
That being said, this was ridiculous. From problems like my boobs are too big to nobody likes my rap album. Come on, cry me a river.
If you'd like to see a doc about entitlement check this out.
The Thing About Pam (2022)
I'm cringing.
Cool guys. Acting was good but sweet let's make a comedy about a true crime involving an innocent man going to prison and how completely incompetent cops are. Which is a real problem in our justice system. This is part of whats wrong with our country.
Two Sentence Horror Stories (2017)
It is what it's supposed to be.
Based on submissions to the subreddit r/twosentencehorror. If that sentence is meaningless, then you might not get the show. It's campy, silly, and fun. Reviews claiming that "itS nOt sCaRy" have completely missed the point. It's cool that redditors can have their submissions turned into film shorts.
Yellowstone (2018)
Watch for free on Peacock.
Or shell out four bucks an episode on prime. Or pay five bucks a month for peacock. Thanks for the info, IMDB. You're welcome, world.
Good show, so far.
Don't Look Up (2021)
Of you didn't like it, guess what? You didn't get it.
Obviously political satire. It's trying to tell a funny story and also tell us something about ourselves. If you're not getting that, you might be part of the joke.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
Too many lame reviewers
This is a solid start for an adaptation of the book series. So far its been pretty faithful to the introduction of a story that takes 14 novels to tell.
Many reviews here seem to be written by people who haven't read any book, let alone those that inspired the show. If you're limited to orgies of action because of ailing mental faculties then it may not be for you, but please refrain from sharing your experience.
Give this a chance to work and maybe we can all get some fun content.
Bad Trip (2021)
Reminds me of something.
This was kinda of funny. Way funnier when it was called "Dumb and Dumber," but it got a few chucks.
3 from Hell (2019)
Problematic.
So a giant dumpster fire of mis-aimed pulp horror garbage. Add to that the three psychotic morons are like some trope of right-wing terrorism. All in all, not good or fun or insightful at any point or for any reason.
Lost in Space (2018)
Nailed it.
Awesome homage to the original. We have a fleet of starships but crappy flashlights.
Like Father (2018)
Owen is the smartest character in this film.
I hope all these main cast stars are laughing ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK.
