'A' gai wak (1983)
Project A+
Project A is a 1983 Hong Kong Action Film directed by "Sammo" Hung Kam-Bo. The film stars Jackie Chan (Dragons Forever), Sammo Hung (Winners and Sinners), Yuen Baio (The Iceman Cometh) and Lora Forner (Wheels on Meals).
This film may have awful acting and horrible dubbing (even in it's original language) but the film is soon rescued when Jackie Chan deserts his role as a policeman to fight with a gang of pirates. This film features stunning physical comedy with Kung-Fu superstars Yuen Baio (The Iceman Cometh, Knockabout) and Sammo Hung (Winners and Sinners, Martial Law). This unmissable film has inspired many video games such as Pop'n Music and parodies such as Purojekuto A-Ko!
Ging chaat goo si III: Chiu kup ging chaat (1992)
Watch the UK VHS or H.K. DVD Version
The film Police Story III: Supercop is the first Hong Kong movie to be shot with sync sound. It was released in 1993 in Hong Kong and was an instant success. However, it was only given a limited VHS release in the UK and has never been released on DVD.
When Police Story 3 was released in the US, Disney bought the rights and killed it. It was given a new soundtrack, dubbed and cut just to make it stupid. Because of this, Cine Asia and HKL have never released this movie.
Hopefully in the future it will be bought back and given a real release, until then the only decent version you can see is the Fortune Star HK DVD or the UK VHS which are very hard to find.
In my opinion this movie is boring at the start, but eventually becomes an exciting movie.
Fei lung mang jeung (1988)
I want a sequel!
This movie is pure! It is like a remake to wheels on meals. Sadly however, this movie was did not do well in the box office and the HKL DVD is cropped to 1:85:1 from its original aspect ratio.
Dragons Forever stars Jackie Chan (Police Story), Sammo Hung (Martial Law) and Yuen Baio (The Prodigal Son).
If you own a DVD of Dragons Forever, hit the fast-forward button and watch the end fight scene, It shows Jackie Chan fight Benny Urquidez and is literally the Jackie Chan equivalent of the Matrix!
The main problems with this movie is it was a little rushed and has a lot of editing flaws.
Shao Lin men (1976)
An Underrated Classic!
I Bought the Hong Kong Legends DVD and this movie is pure classic. The choreography is excellent, the acting is brilliant and the storyline is also great. This early John Woo movie stars Dorian Tan as the good guy and has an supporting appearance from Jackie Chan as a blacksmith who was a Shaolin disciple. The structure of the fight scenes in the last half-hour showdown were later used in films such as Mission:Impossibe Part II.
The two flaws this movie has is the fight scenes are shot at awkward angles, making them look fake. The other flaw is that a real Shaolin disciple would not want revenge. In Buddhism, suffering is caused only by want and any real Shaolin disciple should already know this, therefore I rate this movie 8\10 stars.
