Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain (2023)
Maybe Zoomers & Zillennials might think it's funny?
I had never seen these guys before, but I figured if the were SNL regulars, the movie would be decent. I was wrong. What a yawner!
I think maybe it was supposed to be a remodel of Without A Paddle, but I found nothing funny about it at all. I never laughed once. But, I figured as long as I had already been watching it for a half hour, I'd give it another hour to be fair. I wasted another hour.
I didn't find any of the characters to be relatable, or likable, or interesting, or funny---or of the caliber I'd expect for "SNL regulars" (although I have not watched SNL for many years).
If you have an immature sense of humor, and haven't ever seen any GOOD comedy-adventure films, before, then you won't know the difference and maybe you'll be entertained...otherwise don't waste your time.
October Faction (2020)
Read all the 1 to 3 star reviews before deciding to watch!
Honestly, I stopped watching about 3/4 into Episode 1, when one of the main characters---the 17 yo boy twin---was starting to get a b-j from some other teen boy he had just met at his grandfather's funeral reception. I wasn't going to watch YET ANOTHER "woke" TV series that looked promising from the trailer, but was more concerned with woke-casting & "normalizing" LGBT characters than it was in advancing a plot.
Cthulhu (2007)
Don't believe all the great reviews
I am willing to bet that any rating over a 5 is by someone gay or a friend or relative of the cast or crew. Cardboard acting; disjointed direction; bad audio; poor script; weak plot. This is a gay movie masquerading as a Lovecraft adaptation. Luckily, I watched a copy from the library, so I didn't waste any money, just my time in watching it. If you are a Lovecraft fan and a heterosexual, you won't miss-out on anything by NOT watching this. I wish I had believed all the 1 and 2 star reviews and no wasted my time.
Da 5 Bloods (2020)
Mostly just a vehicle to make anti-Trump, anti-American political statements
The story concept and plot twists were good, and could have made a good 105 min movie. This way-too-long 2 hr 35 min movie was at times: an historic Blackumentary, a thinly-veiled leftist propaganda film, a brothers-in-arms movie, and an action/adventure film. It is often disjointed, preachy, and overly-and-overtly political. I almost stopped watching it 3 times because of the anti-Trump, anti-American statements, but I hoped the storyline would redeem the movie: it didn't. Don't waste your 2 1/2 hrs!
Mohawk (2017)
A good film for film school students
A good example of how NOT to make a film...from bad acting, poor camera direction and camera work, to historical inaccuracies, bad script, obtrusive electronic and drums soundtrack, poor pacing and hackneyed dialogue. The germinal idea for the story was good, as there are not many films dealing with the War of 1812...but everything else was amateurish and trite.
Jacob's Ladder (2019)
Not a remake at all
I watched this movie having already read the negative reviews, because the 1990 film "Jacob's Ladder" was a masterpiece. This film shares the same title, basically, and one or two script lines from that film, and a couple similar special effects, but other than that, it is a completely different story and movie. If the title was something different, and you've already seen the 1990 film, you'd have no idea this was supposed to be a re-visioning of that classic: different plot, characters, backstory, ending.
New York'ta Bes Minare (2010)
Comes off as a Pro Islam, anti-America propaganda piece
Bored, and seeing though the agenda, I turned it off, halfway through
Backfire (2017)
Don't waste your time!
I watched this on Netflix, because the premise sounded interesting. Stereotype characters and mediocre acting. This was mainly a 90 min commercial for L Revere clothing and Astratton clothing....oh and Natural Light beer. The product placement money must have financed the movie.
Battle of Los Angeles (2011)
If this movie was an attempt at camp or parody, it failed at that too
Because this movie could not hold my full attention, I may have blinked a little too often and missed a few things: like a coherent plot, character development, the reason one of the main characters was dressed the ridiculous way she was (and carries a Japanese sword instead of a gun)etc. It is my impression that the director must have owed some favors (or had a "diversity" agenda), because there was an inordinate percentage of female fighter pilots; and after the first 45 minutes of this movie, NONE of the remaining military characters were white males.
This was the first review I've ever written for IMDb; but I felt compelled to warn prospective viewers. The only other feature-length movie I've ever seen that was lamer than this one was "Attack Force" with Steven Seagal.
