The Day the Fish Came Out (1967)
WELL DONE 1966 Movie-Based on Real Incident!
Wow! a really good movie presenting as said in the beginning the real incident on January-17-1966 at Palomares Spain! when a collision in the air released 4 Nuclear Bombs on land and sea and released Deadly- Plutonium Radiation etc! and to this day there is still Contaminated land and when the accident happened and the radiation was released in the water the fish did all die along with other Sea & Land Creatures & Birds etc. and also the tourist economy of the area etc! Also the movie was actually filmed starting in July/August of 1966! & Scouting and Casting well before etc. So Think 1966! Also some of the sun visors ideas are actually used now and it was a hot Island of Greece so the clothing makes sense aside from the Appropriate Greek Classic Toga outfits etc. An Amusingly Presented movie based on a Real Incident That Is Still Serious and actually happened numerous times after this and also before this incident etc! I think ouch seeing the actors have to walk barefoot on those rocks & bet they said Ouch more then once and have some stories to tell about cut feet etc! Like the already done then auto light sensors & Computers for info to pick and make reservations for trips & Detecting Equipment used to locate the lost Bombs etc!
Corky (1972)
Worthy Forgotten Car Movie
This review is more to give correct info on automotive part of movie. Which was filmed in 1970! This movie has main characters Robert Blake's car, Which is one of only a handful, made through George Barris Customs Shop '67 Plymouth Barracuda SXB Formula S Fastback! These were offered to public! This had the endorsement of Chrysler-Plymouth Division for Limited Production Car Field etc. It is a 383ci 4 speed Formula S Fastback with power steering, power brakes, it has a full-width taillight lens with sequential turn signals that had red white and blue stripe that runs around circumference of trunk! Outside exhaust that could be hooked up if permitted by the state you lived in, Flame-Thrower road lights are installed in flat-black-finished modified grille opening, and the park lights are moved to lower valance. The whole car is painted in pearlescent blue and contrasting candy blue, red white and blue accent stripes help set off this pleasingly restyled SXB Barracuda.
As said This had Endorsement of Chrysler-Plymouth Division for limited car field! The original prototype for the SXB had short in height spoiler-wing built into tail but all others of small number built had like the high tail-wing of the later Dodge Daytona And Plymouth Superbird Wings on the back as seen in the movie car.
There was also a Barracuda SXB used in an episode of the TV show "Knight Rider"- the "19th Hole" season 3 episode 16 from 1985 but this one had a completely different taillight setup! But was definitely one of these Ultra Rare Cars! One of which is still around and shown here and there at certain car shows around the country maybe you have had the privilege to see this Cool Rare Factory Endorsed Custom that was offered starting with the '67 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback! I don't know if any Notchbacks Are Convertibles were given this treatment but the auto-world always has surprises! An original story article was done on this car offering in "Motor Trend" magazine by Steve Kelly on Barracuda '67 model Limited Production of the George Barris SXB Barracuda.
This is a largely unknown movie that actually is significant like other car themed movies and just happens to use a rarity as main character car in movie and should therefore be in all car themed movie lists and ratings but sadly isn't! As it has yet to be offered in legitimate Letterbox Widescreen form from TCM, WHICH I believe holds the rights to this significant automobile themed movie. We would hope the owner of this movie would do it justice with an official legitimate WIDESCREEN release of this Forgotten Gem! The movie in itself, ignoring the automotive side, is acted and done well by all involved and is actually worth watching for a good portrayal of the way some people are! Robert Blakes Character just seems to get into all kinds of situations and trouble! I'd love to have a DVD WIDESCREEN VERSION of this lost classic! Which just happens to have a Cool Rare Factory Endorsed Custom or two in it! Cars were made by Richard "Korky" Korkes who also did '65 conversion of original '55 Lincoln "Futura" concept car to the well known "Bat Mobile" that went recently for $4.3 Million! At auction! It seems like this movie and main character might have been named after Richard "Korky" Korkes name but with a C of course! This movie also has an attractive Charlotte Rampling, Patrick O'Neal and has some real life NASCAR Racers and also know by the alternate title "Looking Good" I hope this clears up misinformation on the car at least used in this movie.
The Collector (1965)
A Totally Top Realistic Portrayal of a Unfortunately Real Situation!
When I recently saw "The Collector" 1965 on Fearnet OnDemand. I didn't know what to expect as the main male character collects butterflies and is a Bank Clerk played by Terrence Stamp. Where could this go? I thought and little did I Know I was Taken on a Deep Reaching Emotion Filled Trip!As the overly-withdrawn bank clerk decides to get a certain woman for a permanent date of sorts! This is when one is taken on the Trying Emotional Trip That is done excellently by the pacing of the movie to let one feel they are going through this situation themselves and getting into the character of the Woman played by Samantha Eggar as well by odd enough in spots for the man- Terrance Stamp!I was actually stunned by this movie and will always have feelings for the female character and highly recommend, bringing to life what these captured Women go through in a situation that still unfortunately continues and would help one to understand what these women go through! It's Effectively Emotionally Disturbing and one should watch it in quiet when they won't be disturbed and this is the Best Way to watch this to Feel the Full Impact of the Situation Yourself! Not many movies in Fact no new ones bring out the Emotions in me like this one did! Only a 60's Classic like this can Leave Me Stunned in Real Life!Totally Top! In Fact Samatha Eggar and Terrance Stamp Won Awards for this well deserved! Samatha Eggar received a nomination for The Academy Award for Best Actress for "The Collector" Directed by William Wyler also did win Cannes Film Festival Best Actress Award The Golden Globe Award for Best Actress- Motion Picture Drama The Sant Jordi Award for Best Performances in a Foreign Film Among others, as well from the fans and people that saw this realistic slice of Human Culture As Unfortunate as it is! Another interesting note is that the Movie was original 3 hours in length so 61 minutes got cut out! There was a different ending made also but it was not used for effect and a good choice for true impact! I would like to see a restored version but at that perhaps Thats what made it be such a Stunner as released!! So Brilliant on that! As I know that can be drastic to meaning of movie as well the Producer and Director and the Stars for sure! It's completely worthy as released for a fact! Please watch it by yourself in the dark with no disturbances because you will become disturbed by this Classic!Excellently played by Samatha Eggar!Samantha Eggar is engrossing and you feel for her character in the movie!I noticed elements of later movies apparently that were influenced to copy!
13 Frightened Girls (1963)
A really great fun unique well blended movie!
I recently had a chance to see this.I personally love this for what it is a unique movie made in a serious time that gets to present a world serious topic in a most amazing way and keep it blending all elements of movie making!A really fun how its going Who Did It? Who's It? plot!As said on a serious topic well blended! Since I was watching this on Fearnet OnDemand I was wondering why they were showing such a cool bright and cheery movie and how it was going to go as far as presenting mad-slasher blood & guts,I can see how a few key scenes that seem like it, I don't want to ruin it by description!even though I give spoiler alert, were taken into other movies and followed through so as elements of seriousness were presented I thought this is amazing and intriguing that its bright and cheery and serious macabre at the same time and funny! I also loved how it kept up to seem like everything is OK and done and then...I love this well done movie as to itself and what it does, entertain and present a serious subject with some others that wouldn't be touched today! As well be presented so ingeniously! I can see where many other movies copied later to now! This is a well-done movie and I would recommend it for itself as is and its historical contents! It should be noted that the format of movie about diplomats daughters and politics has actually taken place and that even Stewardess's back then in there teens were used as couriers and spy's just like the Pan Am TV series address's with one of its Stewardess's!Also International Models too! So as far fetched as it sounds it happened! It was actually daring of Castle to get to present this topic in such an entertaining fun way in the early 60's! I love the looping tie-ins in this movie if you have never seen it it will surprise in as said its cool blending of different elements and emotions on a serious subject! Although there are 15 girls for critics 13 sounds better for effect and there are only 13 girls left at a certain place before movie ends! Kathy Dunn is very appealing and has the best scream I've ever heard and lends itself to making the mood get serious for bloody murder!I also wish I could have her come out of screen as she's a real Barbie Doll for a girlfriend!
