Glass (2019)
Good Film, Personally I Didn't Like The Twist Ending
As a big fan of Unbreakable, I was excited to see this film. James MacAvoy is fantastic, Sam Jackson is good as usual, and even Bruce Willis acted good (for him). The first twenty minutes were great, we finally got to see Kevin vs. David. But as soon as they get captured and put into the mental hospital, it gets a little slow. Sam Jackson doesn't even speak until more than an hour in. But this is all part of the story, and the story is good. The "Showdown" at the end is great, with David and Kevin fighting using their full powers, and Elijah directing them both from the sidelines.
Ok, now the very end Spoilers!
I did not like it. I don't think that the twist was setup at all. The Doctor just runs over, has David touch her so he can see the evil she's done, and turns out she's got orders from the Illuminati to kill both superheroes and supervillians? What? This really came out of nowhere for me, and I don't think I liked it. Maybe after seeing it a second time I could see it being setup, but the first time it left me disappointed and a little confused. Still, overall I liked this film, and will see it again, definatly will get it when it comes out on Blu Ray.
Annihilation (2018)
What We've All Been Asking For, But Nobody Saw It
Annhilation is the latest film from Alex Garland, who's last film was Ex Machina. You know, the best SciFi film in forever?! Annihilation isn't a reboot, or a remake, or based off a comic book. It's based off a novel, not a frigging comic book. It's slow, and intense, and intelligent, and it doesn't treat its audience like idiots.
And No One went to see it.
All the main characters are Women who are also Scientists, and they don't do dumb things like in other movies. Please, Hollywood make more films like this! This is exactly what we've been asking for for years. But no one saw it. Well, go watch it right now, it's on Netflix, and it's excellent.
The Parent 'Hood (1995)
It could have been Better
I've seen almost all of this show's run in reruns on BounceTV. It's basically a mediocre Sitcom starring a Black Family. Yes, it's been compared to the Cosby Show, but it wasn't near as funny, or as well written. I've seen Robert Townsend's early movies, (Hollywood Shuffle was great), and I just expected more from him, but maybe he wasn't writing on the show. I'm loathe to mention over reviews in my review, but I wanted to say this: Just because a show stars a Black Family, doesn't mean it's groundbreaking, or that it will even be good. What this show is to me, is a knock off of the Cosby Show. Both have an Upper Middle Class American Family, where the two Parents both have very good jobs, I.e. Doctor and College Proffesor, wives were both Lawyers etc. But in TPH the jokes were all easy, and sometimes lazy, and yes, sometimes racist. 4 out of 10 ⭐️s
