Civil War (2024)

What's the point again?
13 April 2024
I just watched this movie today and I was completely disappointed. It felt like the movie wanted to make a statement, but keeping the story so neutral and middle grounded kept the movie from actually feeling like you're getting a story. You don't know nothing about the war, why it happened, and who is actually fighting, and for what. It all feels so vague.

The characters reactions seem off too. The youngest character tags along with the seasoned photographers. One minute she is so upset from seeing people being tortured to a few days later just jumping into the middle of people shooting at her.

The photographers are like this protected group of people so much so they don't even need to carry weapons because everyone just let's them tag along. Also because of everyone that's fighting looking exactly the same it's difficult to understand why everyone would let them tag along.

I found this movie lacking in story and character development. I will say that there were some scenes that were absolutely gorgeous. The gunshots matched for the scenes that were happening and not just recycling the same gun sounds for different guns.

3 stars for those reasons alone.

The Cliff notes of history

Talk about a movie that jumped around and around. I know what happened in history and even I was confused by what was on the screen. Movie is too focused on all the wrong things. It's jumpy. If you didn't know anything about history you'd be lost. Why were their 3 different timelines going on at the same time? Show one year - put up a title card of the next decade/year and continue. Break it into 3 parts. Doing 3 timelines was just stupid. Also would have loved to more of the science behind how he did it and not the white men in suits paying for the project. Director wants to show you all the pretty pictures with none of the story.

This isn't a movie that helps.

I was disappointed in this movie. It's supposed to be so funny that our main female character is being tormented and teased because she's still mourning the death of her husband. It's insane. They mention it's only been 5 months since he died and her so called friend is guilting her for being depressed. Then she gets stuck with the male model and suddenly she's over the love she had for her husband. I thought this movie wasn't any good. This society never let's people mourn properly. Someone dies and you should be over it all in a week and reading to date again. There is nothing wrong with you if you never want to date again.

Lord of the Flies but zzzzzzz

Great if you love a show that is 2 minutes dialog and 5 minutes of music after every scene. Gets pretty annoying.

Not only that but after the crash there is like 15 people but they appear and disappear so frequently.

In 2001 there was a movie called The Hole. The one character hides the key to get out just do she can stay around her crush while killing her best friend and others dying. The one character smashing the box reminded me of that movie. Also how did no one hear her banging loudly on this metal box in the woods? At this point though they would have already recorded their location.

I think it's hilarious that these girls with ZERO hunting skills are running around in pelts from animals killed. I've watched Alone and they are skilled survivors and they couldn't do that.

I turn this off. If I'm going to watch a show about a plane and people on an island who crashed I'm going to watch Lost. Way better character development.

Doesn't make sense
24 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
If she were in a coma for twenty years how would she know about the iPhone? Especially the iPhone that's the newest one. Normally I could overlook such an error but when it's such a big part of the ending it just doesn't make sense.

How I Met Your Father (2022–2023)
5/10
Just meh
1 February 2022
I watched How I Met Your Mother when I was 21. It was interesting and funny. The characters were charming (not Robin lol).

I am trying connect to this show. I am trying to like the show and the characters, but everything feels forced and fake. The jokes are sometimes funny but most feel cringy. Episode 3 they have an ad for Hello Fresh after the characters talk about sending meals to one another.

They live in the same apartment as the original show (included with the swords) The same song. There's a school teacher (like Lilly). They hang out at a bar. I'm only on episode 4 so I bet they'll be more similarities. I guess that's what confuses me. If you want us to think of this show as something so completely differently why make it almost the same thing? Someone wrote that people of a certain age can't understand because they are hung up on it trying to be the same thing, but isn't it trying to be the same thing without old fans? They are riding on the coat tails of the old show otherwise they would have made this one and named it something else.

I'll give it till the end of the season because who knows. The first season of The Office, Parks and Recs, and Trailer Park Boys were horrible so maybe it'll get better.

Unlikeable characters and a bad ending
21 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First of all Pia reminded me of Helga Geraldine Pataki from Hey Arnold. She was scary looking. This series was stupid. How many times do cops take family to an active scene where a murdered family member might be? It happens multiple times. First we get where they take Pita to the truck where the movies were made. Then they take them to where the son is missing and stolen by two possible murder suspects. Ummmm nope! Oh and Nick having an online profile using his real name while he is cheating on his wife. Plus no one who talked to him on the dating apps ever came forward with info? Plus in the beginning the cops don't even take like common things like Nicks laptop until days later. Then the reval about who kidnapped him was ridiculous.. The girl who killed herself's brother managed to track Nick down with only his fake name and find him. We never know how he gets loose because they bash his brains in.

I should have dipped out like my fiancé did in episode 2.

Not a documentary...
18 August 2021
This is like one really long music video. Pretty sure they hated the states because they just wanted to be alone and not talk to locals. They then say all Americans are the same with no culture.

Not what I expected.

The Night (II) (2020)

Great movie and I'll explain the ending
26 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I thought this movie was a good movie that just makes you think. I know a lot of people didn't understand what was happening but it's pretty straight forward.

Babak and Neda have sins/secrets between one another. The motel is like a giant therapy session. As soon as they can talk about their sins they can leave. Neda catches on to this and confesses her sins but Babak just can't admit his sins. The night goes crazy and he ends up killing Neda and still can't admit what he's done (hitting a girl and killing her - - we get hints that this is what happens when his friend talks about a young girl dying on his table at 3am and Neda saying that Babak can't hold his alcohol, plus the image of his friend over a body). The part with Neda admitting she had an abortion wasn't saying it's a sin just a secret she's kept that has made her feeling bad about doing it. She's not saying it was wrong just a burden she's kept with her and carried on her mind for these years.

We get to the ending only to see that even confronted with his dead wife, his daughter crying in the background, and the girl he killed he still can't admit his sin. He in the end decides to kill himself rather then dealing with it. Earlier in the movie Neda even comments when he won't let her drive because he's had too much to drink that he's a stubborn man.

We see him wake up in bed and he assumes everything is normal and just a dream but he soon realizes that the night is just repeating itself but this time Neda is sleeping peacefully because she finally has the weight of sin off of her chest and can rest easily. Now he is left to deal with his own sins and denial.

Middle of the ground series
22 February 2021
The good: Very interesting and kept me engaged. I watched one episode after another trying to get to the mystery of if she would get her memory back. Perhaps the mystery is she never lost her memory.

The bad: 1) Never met a tattoo artist that didn't have even one tattoo on themselves. 2) Show made out like Mary just got a gun that day. It takes 7 days to pass the background and get the permit for a handgun. 3) All the characters are terrible. 4) Mary gives John a debit card, which seems weird because that is traceable.

Predictable and just okay
18 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The ending was predictable if you've seen ANY movie that is a thriller. Also you can not taser someone unconscious. He got her in the leg.... That does not knock a person out for hours.

Eh 20 year olds....

What a terrible and slow paced movie where nothing of interest happens. I get where they wanted to go but the story didn't come out right. At the end of the movie I couldn't care about any of the characters. The ending was seriously pointless. I mean was it telling us that even if you're in a relationship you can still be friends. But why would you need or want to be friends with an ex? I wish this was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind so I could erase my brain from having to watch this.
