I just watched this movie tonight and felt compelled to give it a positive review. Even though I am a few years older than the characters in this movie the art fag gaze magazine and self righteous cliques hit home. This film made me laugh out loud several times. It gets so ridiculous with the Cosby show namesake to the mental flashbacks to the family relationships that you can't help but laugh. The acting is not great and the whole thing is far from believable but I am sure was not meant to be. I think the folks responsible for this film could have a bright future. I think I need to see this movie again. Could defiantly become a cult classic if enough people give it a chance.

Harrigan's Kid (1943)

I was being lazy today and watching Turner Classic Movies and came across Harrigan's Kid. Not the greatest movie of all time but was kid of fun to watch. Benny McNeil, the cocky and headstrong young jockey has 2 strikes against him (accused of cheating) and is in danger of getting thrown out of horse racing all together when his "Owner" sells his contract to a big time Owner in hopes that Benny will work his way up in the ranks and when he does throw the BIG RACE! Harrigan, the old underhanded owner (with a heart of gold) and Garnet (the new owner and Harrigan's former owner) have some sort of score to settle. This movie is pretty cheesy but kept me from taking a shower and actually doing something with my morning.

The best scene is the last one, someone dies, I wont say who but it is totally sappy and fake and made me chuckle a bit, I gave this movie 1 extra star for the best, and most conveniently timed death scene in movie history!

The Rocker (2008)

I laughed out loud several times in this movie and it was way better than I expected. I think folks are being way to hard on this movie that I think did its job well. Maybe I thought it was funnier than most because I am a 35 year old ex punk rocker who's bands never "made it" There were some great moments and jokes "You're gonna get laid so much yer gonna..." OK I wont spoil that one for you. Yeah, it is a bit cliché at times but who cares. The music is pretty descent in my opinion too in my opinion, although I wont be running out to buy the soundtrack. Go rent this movie if you want a few laughs, anyone who rated this movie under a 5 must have absolutely no sense of humor.

In Search of a Midnight Kiss (2007)

Oh So Quirky! Oh so Indy! I downloaded this movie and feel like I want my money back. I think you may like this film if you like bad acting and contrived dialog that would like to be really edgy. It is very LA, which is the most honest thing about this film. I guess maybe this could be considered a descent effort for a first year film student. The dialog and black and white thing seem to look and flow a bit like Clerks but not as funny or insightful. The actors seem to just be waiting for the others to finish their lines so they can read off their non-funny comebacks. As a bonus, the voice of the lead actress gave me a headache, gust had to add that to give me 10 lines. Please avoid this movie if you can.

The Strangers (2008)

I just finished watching this movie, it was so scary that it took me 2 nights to watch the whole thing because I fell asleep 50 minutes into the first night. I gave it another shot tonight and I managed to STAY AWAKE! There was not one scene that made me jump or cringe even a little bit. I kind of feel IMDb has forsaken me with the rating on this one. I would actually give it 1 extra point for the masks that were a little creepy but I am taking it back for the over inflated rating.

I kept waiting for any sort of explanation about anything...PLEASE GIVE ME A REASON TO GIVE A CRAP ABOUT IF THESE PEOPLE LIVE OR DIE! or at least have some gratuitous nude scenes with Liv Tyler.

All the people who thought this was scary are F'in 8 year olds dude.

Irreversible (2002)

Extreme foreshadowing

I watched this film a couple days after "Seul Contre Tous" which I think is a much better film. This show was HARSH to say the least. The camera was all over the place and it makes you want to vomit in many ways. I liked the foreshadowing aspect, especially when it comes to the opening scene as the follow up was not yet made but I had seen it a couple days before which made it all the better.

This movie gets its disturbing point across. It is not for the faint of heart and I would not recommend it to my mother. It is violent and disturbing which was the point I guess.

Life is great, then this happens.

Please avoid the club RECTUM at all costs! 6/10

I Stand Alone (1998)

Wonderfully Horrible!

I want to start this off by quoting another reviewer who gave this 1 star. "A movie that made me sick, a movie that deals with pure hate, and nothing else. Pessimistic, stupid, violent, incredibly vulgar" I agree with all of this (besides the stupid comment).

French films are not particularly known for being horrific but this one is quite a bit different. Not a sappy love story here.

I can see a bit of the Taxi Driver nod here but this movie goes way beyond that. This movie is 90% dialog in the head of a man who is not right in many ways. The main character "The Butcher" in this movie makes Travis Bickle look like a really sweet guy (as he was in his own way).

This movie sucked me in like a train wreck!

The thoughts of a man in deep despair coming at you at 100 miles an hour (or 160 km par l'heure ;).

This movie will make even the craziest person say WTF! 9/10 stars! A must see!

Quirky Fun Movie

I thought this movie was pretty good. Yes, It may be trying a bit hard and the acting may not be top rate but at least it has some originality to it which is more than I can say for most movies out there. Yes it is cheezy and far fetched but it leaves you with a good feeling in the end. Who knows why someone would open up a cereal restaurant across the street from another but who knows why TV executives throw the best shows on at the same time or why there are 3 million Starbucks or 7-11s half of which are on the same block.

This is a fun movie, Not great but good all in all. I wish I could give it an extra star to combat the negative reviews but I can not. Solid 6, and in my opinion worth watching if you have nothing better to do.

I must say I am not gay but this is good if you can get past that. A movie about love and loss. I thought there was goodness in this film. It is kind of a 50/50 song and acting film. Acting is good, I liked the songs as well.

Starts with a 3some with 2 girls and a guy. Initiated by the girl in the relationship. For some strange reason the main girl dies. The natural thing would be for the remaining 2 to figure it out but for some reason the dude gets gay.

I guess the whole point is, you can love anyone.

Also gays love musicals!

If you are homophobic and against musicals, pass it, otherwise it is a pretty good movie.

The Great Debaters (2007)

Denzel has defiantly come a long way from Carbon Copy. I thought the actors did a really good job in this film although I was not really convinced with Denzel Whitaker's final scene in the debate. He did really well for most of the movie, as a smart 14 year old in love, but I think he kinda fell apart in the debating department. That being said, apart from the predictable ending, I did not think I wasted my time watching this movie. It showed a lot of heart and I walked away with a bit more understanding of the struggle of Black people in the south at the time. Could have been better, a bit less predictable, and more accurate but all in all a good film. I do not understand why this has such a high rating and doubt I would want to watch it again, but as another reviewer said, It seemed like a great made for TV movie.

There Will Be Blood (2007)

I had to laugh!

I actually was liking this movie, and it took me a bit to even watch it seeing the mixed reviews. I must say that I thought it was a cool movie utill the last half hour. I will not say that it is a waste of time at all and I probably would have given it a beter review if it did not have the out of nowhere slapstick ending. No one aged except the deaf kid, who didn't learn anything. This could have been a good ending for one of my favorites, The Big Lebowski! I do not think I have spoiled the ending at all but I think I could have done a better job.

Everyone knows that religion is full of flaws. As for the acting, everyone loves Daniel, whatever. He was fine. My favoriete movie last year was La Vie En Rose with a backup of No Country for Old Men.

The End of this movie had me laughing, I guess mostly because I am not a Christian but it was just stupid and funny as well. The dumb asses got what they deserved.

I would like to submit a new ending, as the one given after all that time sucked.

See it for yourself if you have the spare time. Not a 10 or 1 as they would have you believe. it could have been a 7 if the ending wasn't so funny. I couldn't stop laughing! Great comedy film!

I give this piece of crap a 3 for cool head explosions and the big fat DJ guy. Otherwise this is a huge waste of time. No zombie rules are followed and everyone gets zombified way too quick. I had to keep watching it until the end because it was so rediculas. I did not like anyone in this movie and it would have been great if they all died. I have to keep saying things about this to make the quota but please avoid this show at all costs. My favorite quote in the movie was "Bleach kills almost everything" Everybody who has ever seen a zombie movie knows that bleach will not cure a zombie. Low rent piece of junk. I want my free rental fee back. Thats how bad it is!

I must say that for an attempt of a computer animation movie not for kids this was a good try. It looks pretty good and the truth is I really wanted to like this movie. The faces look great and the animation is really good. The thing about this film is it is pretty much a cartoon. I felt nothing for the characters, I do not think it was because it was animated but more because it lacked development. I think I preferred the tom hanks film in the same vain. I really did not care about any character in this film. No chills no thrills. It was kind of like watching a really long video game intro.

I wanted to like this film, maybe it would have been better in 3D. I think this could be a really good video game, but as a movie it falls really short. I give it a 4 of 10, the 4 all being for the artists in this movie. As far as the story goes, I could care less about any of the characters. Falls very short of being a good movie.

Wow, I love both Sam Jackson and John Cusack, but this has got to be the worst choice for thriller horror movie I have seen in a while. First of all you don't care about Cusack's character at all. then you go in a series of horror/thriller clichés. This movie is predictable at every point. I want to see a movie like this with the chance I will jump out of my seat at least once. Watching this show I was calling out what was next and was correct almost every time. How this movie rates over a 5 on IMDb is beyond me.

I almost thought it was gonna be good 2/3rds into it but it fails.

We need a new classic Steven king movie. All of this I have seen before.

This movie gets 9 out of 10 buttholes in my book.

Van Gogh (1991)

How true can it be if he never cuts his ear off? The man dies in this film with both ears. I kinda think that this was an important moment that his movie glosses over. The guy dies with two ears! I pretty much know that the man went insane and cut his ear off to give to a whore that he was in love with. I think this show has little or no reality involved. come on! Isn't this basically (besides his paintings) what my Van Gogh was basically known for. This movie drags on and on. Thre is little or no truth to it, and I basically give it a thumb up the ass. This movie is boring and not truthfull at all. Complete waste of what seemed to be 3 + hours. Avoid this movie at all costs. -=db=-

Arthur and the Invisibles (2006)

Pretty good

I thought this movie was entertaining, I did have a few problems with it though.

First off, the way Arthur finds every clue so easily to get into the Minimoy word is ridiculous. I would think he should stumble at least a little bit but everything is right where it should be. Save 1 scene where the grandmother decides to lock the kid in his room and then knock herself out on some sleeping drops.

I think this may be a popular French practice. ;) But once the animation starts I think it is great. Fast moving and great voices, although I could really hear the editing especially in the first half. I could tell that the folks were not in the same room in parts, lines came in too quickly.At the same time I thought Snoop Dog and David bowie parts were especially well cast.

2 things I thought were a bit disturbing were the drink scene with Snoop's character and the odd love thing going on with the 10 year old and the well built Madonna Minimoy. Kinda weird.

Overall this is a fun movie that could have been done a bit better.

The Island (2005)

Great Movie that you should see!

All I an say is WOW! Some old and new ideas in this one combined into a Sci-Fi movie that shouldn't be missed. You kind of figure this show out and predict things that you have seen in other movies but should be surprised regardless in many ways. Well worth seeing in a theater if possible, great story and effects although the action was a little overdone in parts. I was also annoyed by the cars in this movie. Its frickin 2017 and they are driving 2005 H2's and and those hemi station wagons. You would think these folks would have newer cars. I drive a classic myself but for this purpose I think not.

Great movie! See it!
