Sherlock: The Six Thatchers (2017)
Let's do a petition for justice for Sherlock, shall we?
I have been fan of the original Sherlock Holmes, but still when I first started to watch Sherlock, it surprised me, quite surpassing my expectation, and it has been the case until Season 2 episode 2 and 3.Unfortunately there has been a change of pace starting from season 3, and now while watching Season 4,episode 1, I am sadly watching the great Sherlock script going downfall from season 2's wonderfully tight and intrigue story telling. Now like any other commercial big budget marvel superhero movies, Sherlock consists of Sherlock, Watson (who is merely a side character now), and Mary, the superwoman who is surprisingly and (irritatingly if I may add) present in any and every scenario where some important plot thickening is going on, like when Sherlock goes to investigate the death of a son of an important minister, we see Mary is present there too! In a video conversation with Sherlock & Watson, and (obviously) giving her wise opinion on the mystery, and her intuitions even match with Sherlock, since she's this spy who is very talented and excels at multi tasking even when she has a baby to take care of! I am sorry but the way the writers keep including Mary, Molly on every single episode is getting too tiresome, and too trite for a genius like Sherlock Holmes who shouldn't necessarily need any of these people to solve the mysteries. And he basically doesn't do either, but as if the production is hell bent on adding up these characters repetitively on each episode and make them part of the mystery solving, it just doesn't go with Sherlock Holmes, and thus the powerful duo of Sherlock and Watson is getting weaker too IMO, the reason for these two to work together on solving mysteries, and Watson being the invincible part of Sherlock's work doesn't apply anymore either. Having said all that, I still love season 1 and 2, and I wish the makers of this show would bring back the tight paced quality of those two seasons. The too polished, all on your face banter, and especially Mary Watson is getting too much on my nerves [ I think lot of viewers would agree with me too?]. So Sherlock should be more about Sherlock Holmes and Watson, and less about Mary Watson or molly. Lestrade's inclusion is valid since he brings all the juicy details to the cases that keep happening, and same goes for Mrs.Hudson,(because she is the only people who was a regular in the original Arthur Conan Doyle cases) but let just get rid of the apparently smart Mary Watson, who should be just on screen occasionally. Let Sherlock Holmes do all the magic, with Watson by his side. Or else the quality dropping would affect the success of the drama as a whole. And we don't want that I guess, do we?
