nearly had me
5 October 2022
Seeing people and life in Nigeria is massive an all black and all African idea its not a bad movie just that it has a lack of magic and the story is rather simple once you warm over the charm and genuine African elements it leaves a lot of space in direction and acting, story even detail of life. I feel it nearly had me, but it became a bit difficult to sustain interest around the time he porked the servant - good try and good start but I fear it did not make use of all it could have, and may have ben hampered by politics and greed off screen.. lets put this down as a good effort and possible space for more.

Death to film
9 July 2022
Ashes to Ashes films came from storage and return to the empty space of brains. There is nothing nothing from nothing. 1 foot in front of the other gives you direction but the direction need not have a reason. Such is this movie such is this movie.

A new level of stupid
29 July 2021
Stupidly predictable grossly over exaggerated stunt scenes that are completely ridiculous to the point of making Bollywood look ultimately believable. Very boring sets of continual mayhem with completely contrived rubbish solutions. This movie is an example of junk pocket money gone mad spending on completely implausible CGI fix and baseless storyline with stoic and she's acting like she's a goddess when She looks like she's a B grade want to be.

Its a great effort. Pleas let Tilly Grow up and not have to be so plainly forced to be weirdly inappropriate. She your going to burn her out, let her have her hair in a bun and not always be a naive geek. She is above that.

yes
26 January 2017
Finally a true masterpiece for grown up, humane and intelligent audiences, where the true here is language and communication, love it. We have all been watching and loving stories for years. We are all the toughest connoisseurs. This movie heralds the needs for females in leads, balances emotion with irrationality and childishness. Makes a lovely stab at realism. Keeps us in suspense and entertained all the way. Is Different. Is simple but yet complex and makes us think. Has no hero per say, but warms to humanity in a way that only few films can. Its a study of mind and heart. But most of all, its tense; It flips through time like no other film I have seen but maintains interweaving effortlessly. The script is brilliant, the acting is brilliant, the music is brilliant, and the story more than satisfies. I think this is a masterpiece.

Boring
21 November 2016
If you want to entertain an young person or child, entertain the adult first. Stop celebrating this writer, the movie will not set any new satisfaction levels, turn any new twists or be even nearly as satisfying as "Super 8", "E.T", WALLE and or Monsters Vs Aliens, or The Hobbit, this one has all the expertise and has rallied all the best in the world but the story is lame. Its just good vs Evil, with a climactic end, the kids got bored, I guess it was lush to look at, and the leads were perfectly placed, but from there it relies on story making and its here that it fails. Its Predictable to the end, I am just saying that monsters, special effects and lush production fails when the story is lame, its just promoted as a brilliant story, but its not inventive, not like Box Trolls, Spirited Away, or Wreck it Ralph. Sorry - it all comes down to creative and outside the box thinking. But I will say, it had a lot of potential and an insane budget, but then so did so many others that pancaked - GOOD stories, I have one, 987gig @ gmail . com if you want it, its far better.

Just a theatrical church using theaters to promote themselves ... sic
9 November 2016
If your into layers of self patrony then start here. This film seeks to promote the evangelical church movement to the vulnerable and followers of Brian Houston. Its a mess of self indulgent close ups, but as far as using theater and production to symbolize god. This movie seeks to add to the brainwashing effect that those fanatics in the euphoric movement, those self absorbed in colour and light and sound fail to see as literally the worship of HILLSONG itself. As such it would be blasphemous and idolatry in its continual use of light to imply the actual, literal presence of god, no, it was light, it was angelic singing, and slick production. Even this movie, with its million dollar budget is just a mass of mind manipulation through sound and light. Don't be fooled, it was a bore, has no place in cinema, is hypocritic, and expect the person who is into this movie to jump up and say hallelujah while they periscope.

Ender's Game (2013)

Its a kids film and is in the best flicks category for them
2 August 2014
Stop the rot, its a great kids film, its for immature minds, a wonderful scenario where kids save the world. Its beautifully put together with great visuals. The plot is wonderful, relax and enjoy with the mind of a young boy and you will be caught, its for them. Not for us, who are connoisseurs of perfect movies and who have the highest standards. Its a very appealing film to a broad range of juvenile humans. Its a very captivating and well constructed plot and direction that will satisfy young minds. Ender's Game may be the quintessential SCI FI of growing would be kids and pre adolescents. I love the way that a young person saves the world. The graphics are amazing and it would be very hard to beat the story. I think If I were a kid this would be a favorite movie, hands down.

Noah (2014)

Good effects but weak story and lead.
6 July 2014
Its worth the look, with lots of amazing effects but overall it turns into a drama and really takes a lot of entertainment licence with creative and ornate monsters. Its family friendly with a mix of sinister and evil, goody and baddie, and the ever aloof God personified above the clouds. Its sort of slow and slower through the drama, mostly because the story is a bit messy, with stow away baddies and corruption of minds. Its not really about the animals, more about the people and does not really sweetly speak of the animal part. The effects are brilliant and the concepts are good. However, in my mind, its the lead who really is too egoistic and testosterone to for me to empathise with. I did get bored during the sailing. The direction was great with the stop frame stuff and time lapse, this was great, and the quality of image was also stunning. I felt this movie turned into a family saga and was let down by Crowe. I reckon I could have been a far better Noah.. thanks all the same God, great topic for film.

Riddick (2013)

No furian just a fuedian dumb and dumber
6 June 2014
What attracts people to this story is how invincible the Furian is while still being in resemblance to humans and, to boot, having a high amount of morality, all hidden beneath the universe's most pure survival entity. A Furian conquers all just with its bare hands out of pure fury against the immoral, where fury and ethic are the most powerful forces in the Universe. This was the ultimate concept for many of us. Well the survival in this movie does not really depict the Furian, its just a sequence of lucky escapes and well timed exits that become predictable. Also, what about the big hole between The Furian Leader and the Necromongers, are we to assume they go on to conquer the universe? The Riddick was high in the action sci fi list for us all, it failed to really connect, and I am being polite, with the amazing introduction. I guess they pushed themselves too hard or maybe did not realize the true value of the story was in the pure element of relentless survival and conquer with biodegradability and the innate ability to adapt an improve rapidly. A real Furian should have walked back into the Necro's and had sex on the way with that queen, kept what he killed and done this with his bare hands. YOU MISSED OUT ON THIS ONE DUDES.

Absolutely beautiful
23 May 2014
When was the last time you stumbled upon a thing, so beautiful that it enchanted you at every spell. The movie also shows some of the rarest and most endangered animals, this is a real jungle boy. And if you do not watch this in hd your a fool. I am at a loss to understand, even by 'today's' standards that they could make such a film. Such amazing angles and locations and naturalness. With a beauty that often surpasses words. For example, take time to notice the expressions. The animals faces are stunning and animals are the best actors because they do not act. It will probably be one of the best animal films of all time. You must not go past this one.

Perfection
7 May 2014
This film must not be forgotten. In all aspects of entertainment and visual effect, the story was wonderfully crafted and I watched it with my ten year old daughter and felt entirely captured by it. This was probably one of the best all round films of my life. And that says a lot from a man who has grown up with movies. Do not forget this film. Keep it, cherish it and let the closing line linger as the best closing line in film history, such a cack, a wonderful warm and lovely laugh right at the end. A beautifully crafted mix, wonderful is the alternate history, the use of female heroine, the wonderful dropped lines and mix of humour and satire. The only thing perhaps, is a wish it did not include race elements because it sort of can be perceived as inciting a little racism. This is movie perfection, one that will be returned to for the rest of my life, my daughter will probably do the same.

Get off, this was brilliant !!
3 May 2014
Bold and funny, able to hold the audience, spoofing modern day technology and lots of silly and shameful cameo. This film is different and funny, entertaining and holds the audience. It works and do not be fooled, its worth checking out. I approached it with an open mind and knew nothing about it. DO NOT BE Conned, its pure brilliance, well crafted, well acted and totally left of field. I do not understand why it did not win more awards, and for the cast of millions it shows a great deal of boldness, the casting was brilliant and the sketches very original. If you do not see intense humor and fun here then your in the wrong world. I am sure that everyone will enjoy, (that is adults only of course)

Pure Brilliance
22 February 2014
I am an Australian, bored and alone more than I would like, sometimes I turn to escape a bit with films, imprisoned in other ways perhaps. It was midnight, I got up and looked at Facebook, then bits and pieces, I had 12 Years a Slave, it has moved me forward, as if pushed me from behind and slapped me in the face. Now it is morning, I started the film near midnight, alone, it held me like speaking right into me, I was not afraid of the self confrontation as the clock passed 0100am, I really engaged in a way that I could not have known. Now I have learnt and experienced and want to make more of me for my daughter who is 9. Slavery and exploitation are written into capitalism now, it is perhaps worth meditating on that. This is not a film, it is a testament to life as we all seek enlightenment.

boring to be honest
22 February 2014
Just boring, I needed something to hold me. It was a flick with too many similar plot, chase and escape and I wonder why it was made. The quality is high but it was not a gripping scenario, it seemed to tap into familiar stuff and I just got bored. I am not a happy camper at the moment, so for me, the film needed to be strong in screen hold. Thanks all the same, but watch it if you want a virus meets world war z scenario. And if your looking for something to really hold you, look for something to really hold you, like Appaloosa, World War Z, Gravity or Star Trek then keep moving, sorry, but its sort of like a run and chase film with meanies and baddies and stuff.. you know... but the cinematography and sets, effects and all that is top notch.

A def for Fst Pcd adrenaline baby
16 February 2014
I watch a lot of action flicks and RUN is right up there. Its more than a fast paced take of the hero villain, its a testament to cool angles and top editing, mixed in with killer sound tracks and some awesome air that defies the laws of both film making and gravity. Its great to see the use of youth arts and physique, and there is no shortage of screen holding energy. This may be a flick for the younger ones, while the older ones will enjoy a peak into youth culture, all the while its about self esteem and character building. Yeah, its a take on the young hero, and the phase in life when young ones think themselves as invincible, but for us older types, its cool to get a window back into the current if not changing youth. Its back to the normal prescribed action formula of eye for an eye, except, there are new spunks to eye, and walls to climb, so this flick takes us, into new familiar grounds. It celebrates all things youth fashion and artz, while exploring Parkour, is a holistic training discipline using movement that developed from military obstacle course training. Practitioners aim to get from A to B in the most efficient way possible. They do this using only their bodies and their surroundings to propel themselves; furthermore, they try to maintain as much momentum as is possible in a safe manner.

Russell Crowe can not sing and brings the house down, Looserville.
22 October 2013
As a musical one needs to have musical people. Russell Crowe is pathetic as a singer, he is a would be try hard, have a go sort of mug, and brings down the production to the point of amateur, which is clearly what he is in singing, nothing more,(you tube Norm Lewis). Crowe has nominal screen appeal in this movie, his solo is nothing less than ham. Russell Crowe is a cut below everyone else, and an indication of how much influence his profile had on his getting the role, other than talent. Most guys could pull of a better performance than him, given the backing, and I know a lot of guys that could sing a lot better, he is a joke. Jackman did a great job, his singing was good too, surprisingly, and the female leads are often superb, but Crowe is woeful in his mighty lead, there would have been tens of thousands of male leads that would have shat all over his gig here, sick. Its truly his singing alone that brings the movie down. He took a major lead for a singer when he is not one. He has no voice, Crowe is known for his grumbling speaking voice, its not possible for such a voice to become a baritone overnight, Looserville.

Great !
24 January 2013
Watch this film. It is tender, loving, interesting, different, beautiful, funny, charming, sweet, creative, entertaining, stimulating, scary, warm, sad, beautiful, dark, light, inventive, irreverent and here is how: Tender & loving between the lead and the subject: Interesting and different in its pace and unfolding, always holds you. Beautiful in its ability to inject really accurate humanity: Funny right from the start and in awkward twists: Charming in major roles and supporting of the leads feelings. Sweet (see Tender), Creative (see Interesting), Entertaining is a summary: Stimulating on many levels, from sentiment to adrenaline (all from a lounge chair): Scary because accidents do happen. Warm in the resolution to the tragedy: Sad when the unthinkable happens, Beautiful in the leads conquering of the impossible, for love: Dark, in the suggestion of reanimation: Light its family viewing and scenarios make it refreshing: Inventive in its use of form and disbanding from colour: Irreverent, in its depiction of model leaders.

Oh, did I mention this is a brilliant movie ?

Confusing to say the least
10 January 2013
Great effects and acting but the weaving was too complex. I could not follow the story and watch a lot of movies. It was lush and visual, but changed so much in the plot that it frustrated my need for a story. I think it was an arrogant mess. I do not believe this is good weaving of story an reflects on desperate efforts to be new and daring, at a cost to entertaining. I do not believe this is a good film and call it a collage or montage, but in this case, a schizoid mess, one for the cooks. Its a movie where the make up is entertaining, and incredible. Where the make up is so good it stands out more than anything else. Maybe Hollywood has more money then mind.

Great movie.
30 August 2012
Stop, good movie, watch it, good movie, great shots, great story, great acting, plausible, believable, great action, a great film. This is a great movie. It should have rated higher, it has it all. It is a well constructed and deserving film. It makes full use of story, effects and great cinematography. World class, top stuff. I was happy to watch it. It was worth every min. Great movie. There is not much to dislike about this film or its genre. It is a great classic ride and a good standard. great movie effects, great acting, great story, why did this movie not make it to the all timers? I guess its an example of why these reviews are not always that accurate.

Not engaging, a weird film.
23 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The concept of being forced to fight for ones life meets Disney snow queen lead by a stoic, one expression does not suit all occasions. Mixed in with weird paternal miss matching and emo that never hits the mark. This film should never have been released. It is droll. Even the concept of winning and achieving, the human who survived, yadda , yadda, c'mon they were prisoners who were tortured and forced to fight each others. Extremely brutal mixed in with butterflies... this is sick. This film fails to entertain, is completely presumable, has poor acting and even less interesting and engaging story. This may be my 2012 droll.

Bag It (2010)

This insightful movie
30 March 2012
Has a lot of information that is at once provocative to even the dullest mind.

There can be no doubting the importance of this kind of media coverage.

Plastic bags = self destruction.

The data and imagery, the accuracy, it is all blindingly serious.

There is a slight absurdity about it all and this is well suited to the topic which is easily argued as the purest form of absurdity.

There is none more insane then our destruction of what we have and are, self sabotage while ignorance is bliss.

Its good that it has a global slant despite forcing the U.S condition.

I recommend this movie for all people. Hippies and non hippies alike. It should be essential educational material.
