The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys (2024)
Not Sure
I'm not at all into reality shows, but I love Yellowstone, so I wanted to see the "real" world version. The business aspects of the show were interesting, but the drama is too much. By episode 9, I was ready to drop-kick Galyna. She's controlling and manipulative to an uncomfortable level. She seems like a bright and driven woman, so I hope that the majority of the story is exaggerated or made up. It's really hard to watch. All the women on the show seem to be trying control or manipulate their men in some way, and the men act like horny frat boys (except Jessie). Again, I don't do reality shows, so all of the nonsense could be scripted. Scripted or not, reality TV is not for me.
Waco: Madman or Messiah (2018)
A Must Watch
This docuseries is eye-opening to just how cruel our government can be to its own citizens. I was child when the ATF wrongly invaded the home of David Koresh, so I was only aware of one side of the story. This show shares the other side, the side of the Branch Davidians, and reveals why these agencies felt the need to hide their wrong doings.
All of the ATF and FBI agents who fired weapons or used deadly force of any kind should be in jail. And that especially goes for the leadership. Both agencies need their funding completely cut. The events shown in these episodes clearly demonstrates their massive overreach and how these agencies work for their own power and not the American people.
While I don't agree with the beliefs of the Branch Davidians or even those the Christianity, this series provided insight into how this group thought and functioned. The story is very said, but I think it's an important one to tell.
Down to Earth with Zac Efron (2020)
Almost a good show
I was so excited for Season 2 of DTE, but within a few minutes in, Zach E is making wild claims about Covid deaths. He claims that if the US had taken the same measures as Australia around 900,000 lifes would have been saved. I don't know where he is getting his data, but that sounds wildly untrue. While there are similarities between our countries, the United States has muncher higher rates of obesity and people who are generally overweight. The big one, is that he ignores the fact that the US has one of the oldest populations in the world. Our overall population is SIGNIFICANTLY older than that of Australia. It is well known at this point that the majority of Covid deaths are in the elderly. Just in the United States, Florida remained relatively open and free during the pandemic, while California took extreme measures to stop the virus. Those steps didn't help. It is even widely acknowledged that those extreme measures like lockdowns, forced vaccination and masking children were unnecessary and often harmful. I'm all for encouraging better healthcare to assist in pandemic times as well as treating our environment better. I love that hippy-dippy ish. However, please don't come at me with your brainwashed, authoritarian garbage about having more "trust" in the powers that be to stop a pandemic those powers likely created. You have now lost my trust Zach.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Success!
I loved the first Top Gun, and the next addition is just as incredible. They did an amazing job of nodding to the original while creating an entertaining stand alone movie. It had me engaged from start to finish, and I was rooting for the characters. There's so much more that could be said, but words don't cut it. Watch it if you haven't! I can't wait to see it again.
