GAY AGENDA IS UNNECESSARY ADD-ONS
This should be another gay themed coming of age film but it didn't focus alone on coming out of two lead characters but rather the story rounds on their personal and family stories which made the film beautiful in other way. But this made me conclude that the "gay stuffs" etc. seems just inserted with no plan and the movie really ended without elaboration on their coming out, (just lovers under the shades of trees and secrecy). There's no support and closure to their coming out story, rather the story much focus on coping up from each trials that they and their family endures. Sadly a bland coming of age film but a beautiful family oriented one, I'd say.
A Moment in the Reeds (2017)
A Moment to Waste Too.....
Just my Personal opinion but I'd side with other reviewers here giving low rating about this film which I say it's rightfully just.
Leevi went back home to Finland to help his father fix their cottage later to be sold. But obviously he has more reason than just helping his father. The movie depicted he some unresolved tension/conflict with his father about his deceased mother and another obvious is his hidden sexual orientation. His father used to hire a carpentry assistant which is a Syrian architect Tareq. When Leevi's father gone out of sight for some business matter the two men (Tareq and Leevi) found themselves indulged in sexual romance and personal recollection.
The film reach its climax, it showed its beauty about the differences of culture, the personal stories of Tareq and Leevi. But as the two build a relationship they neglect their duties on fixing the cottage and when Leevi's father found an unfinished job he rage to anger cursing words. Leevis father is an unreasonable person who after all knows that his son was gay and his been aware of Tareq and Leevi relationship and much worst is he's a type of person who are not open to acceptance to some guy like Tareq, a stranger trying to fit in a foreign land.
The filmmakers failed to elaborate and resolve every tension at finale of the movie. Tareq leaving Leevi and Leevi's supposedly leaving his father. Leevi's conflict with his father and sexual orientation are not portrayed to be resolve (they didn't talk about sorry and acceptance). Leevis romance with Tareq gone to thin air (its stay just like a moment and no more). Those beautiful scenes on the climax are worth nothing because of a crappy ending.
So my safe advised even this film won awards (I don't care), this is an unhealthy Gay Themed film and not worth to watch, just "A moment to waste"
Un frère (2018)
Simple Solace
As I will reflect my personal experiences and I know some other personal stories too, I think when where're once young during our adolescent years we really endure curiosity and experiments in different kind of socialization that life offers. And so I won't consider this film as entirely "coming of age" nor "gay themed" but just a wholesome film since sexuality and coming out wasn't the main topic of the movie but instead it focus to solace and relationship that Tom and Felix (main characters) build and shared to each other.
Seventeen year old Felix used to have an ex-girlfriend and much a liberal kind of person while Tom a fifteen year old, inexperienced and a shy one. What Tom and Felix doing behind anyone knowledge may later define them as gay and bi-sexual but that's not the important thing, we can even state that they simply messing with each other (that's the young boys do as common saying) but actions may or may not really define their true sexuality. The good motives of the movie are that they didn't force or push too hard to talk about the sexuality and coming out of Tom and Felix even there's a lot of scenes that they shares in a gay oriented acts. But rather it depicts on Tom and Felix finding comfort with each other as if they are common brothers, maybe because their mothers used to have miscarriage before. Tom longing for an older brother while Felix for a younger sibling perhaps, yet their relationship turn more sexual at some point but they remain discreet about it. The movie depicts a common story of teenagers where they mess up, socialized and take all possible experiences that life offers (party, drinking etc.). Even though it's a common story yet it was filmed beautifully and casted with awesome actors. The ending is a puzzle of confusions but my interpretation goes this way; As Felix last summer vacation stay with Tom they partied with other teenagers at the lake the night before but leave early as those crazy teens wanted to swim across the lake just to get to nearby store to buy some cigars. Tom wanted to join them swam (maybe to prove and fit in) but Felix scolded him and demanded they must go home, it depicts a powerful affection of Felix care and luckily Tom listens (like listening to an older brother). The day Felix departure we can feel the sadness of goodbyes and refusal to depart if there's only other way but Felix needs to leave. As Felix boarded the train, Tom mothers reading aloud a news the night before that happens at the lake where group teens are drowned and then Tom chase after the train, maybe at that point he realizes he needs Felix by his side more or less like a brother or a friend or a lover to watch and care for him. If not with Felix mandate that night, Tom might be one of casualty of the lake too. The Film though not showing about Tom and Felix coming out to their family yet it was depicted that once summer stay two men, adolescent and young found their personal and sexual identity thru a brotherly relationship.
Gewoon vrienden (2018)
Another Uplifting Gay Themes Film
As what most of other positive reviews tells I have no more new words to define but this film is simply amazing in its way. A very postive and well crafted gay drama/romance. How its portrayed from story to acting was natural. It wasn't forced to be all explicit gay only but a wholesome film. It elaborate that love is diverse no matter the differences. A family oriented film too; No matter what happens the family are always be there to support and comfort. Worthy to watch even to straight people.
Órói (2010)
Messy Lives yet Beautiful depiction of nowadays youth
Although it's tag as lgbtq+ but actually it wasn't gay'er that much. The story does not focus on protagonist alone but to all the lives of his friends also. It depicts the troubles and weary that the youth encounters and sufers. Family, Teenage rebellion, independence, and coming of age. Sorrows and joy, conflicts and romance for me all are very well presented.
L'amour au temps de la guerre civile (2014)
Aint enough Love, Aint enough Civil War
Although very late, I just watch this film this April 2019. But I'm having high expectations since its synopsis is promising but honestly this two hours film is nothing but near trash. SEX, DRUGS, ADDICTION, same old, same old. I never catch up nor feel the LOVE or maybe ROMANCE? In civil war? Because it is portrayed so bland to make me believe the settings are during civil war. All I see are the struggles in their drug addiction especially of the main character Alex and everything gets repetitive. Not enough elaboration in dialogs to understand what's what.
You Should Meet My Son 2! (2018)
A great follow up of a sequel
I've been glad that after 8years a sequel was made although been hesitant since all the cast are new. Well, for a sequel that was made after long years obviously original actors aged already and they wont catch up with the setting but kudos for the new sets of casts (they really keep up to portay the characters very well as the original). It's good that the story was further more stretch, the film gives more meaning to Brian and Chase life and love story and another nice thing are less recycled comedy. There's more to laugh. Not surprising it even get a much higher rating compare to original. To all the cast and crew, director etc. congratulations.
P.S. Hoping for more sequel, it was hinted they're going to be family fathers? Please, please do make the third part.

I take its Homophobia to learn something
Another LGBTQ themed film to lure the gay audiences and yet it ends in Homophobia. But this time I wasn't insulted much. In fact I like the story of the film. Good casting, well run screenplay, some bland acting but still will do. One good thing too is they never exploit much the nudity (for me it's unnecessary) but mixing some religious scene it's an obvious hint that it is not a happy LGBTQ themed movie, it annoys me but we must accept the norm of society. This movie also is almost the same as the story of "Stadt Land Fluss" (Harvest 2011) but with more intimacy and well explained story about the main characters and how their life story plays. A young man(Szabolcs), a football player that after a loss came to a question of his personality and happiness. Went back home to an inherited farm house, his solitude was paid with love by but a man (Aaron) whom also trouble on his sexual orientation. He got a gay friend whom also his lover, his father and the football is always be there for him waiting but he ended deciding for his happiness. Sad and I never expect a tragic ending. But everything is concluded, Aaron is troubled for everything that happens in his life. Before he met Szabolcs he used to have a loving girl, a circle of friends and a welcoming religious community, and a mother but all got screwed. All of his mishap and also the death of his mother was blamed to Szabolcs. The Homophobia here enters Aaron itself, his enemy is his self alone. Selfishness and cowardice dominates him making him unable to appreciate and fight for the love of Szabolcs that he choosed to better end it with a crime yet we know he'll troubled for the rest of his life.
Toute première fois (2015)
A perfect EXAMPLE OF HOMOPHOBIA
I regret watching this movie and the time I spent are just wasted. I've seen a lot of LGBTQ films from France and I'm happy they depict how open minded they are by accepting difference within the society. But this one is not worthy for even a little praise. The maker of this movie especially the directors and writers purely has an inside HOMOPHOBIA.
The story cycled thru *A protagonist which been out (gay) since 15 years of age and now in his mid 30's (probably) and in 10 year monogamous relationship* but by just a one night stand with a slu**y woman everything got screwed.
I have known gay men marrying straight woman but their life remains being gay. The way they talk, gestures, interest and lifestyle (I have known a high school mate actually). Those people are just stuck and chained by hard decision but this film showed an instant GAY to STRAIGHT (it's impossible then he might be BI). The protagonist suddenly change become a straight guy?! This movie its different, this is a very outrage insult for gay people. It imply a straight life to gay person as if curing gay men. This movie purely depict that gay men could be cured (straighten) by just a one-night stand or hooking with women. What is that? a disease? Being gay is not curable because it's not even a disease nor a disorder. Being gay is safe and wonderful lifestyle that deserve a respect too.
The entire scene ended lacking to show regrets on the protagonist part that is clearly means the filmmakers are really on a straight propaganda. And their HOMOPHOBIA is undeniable. The protagonist choose that slu** woman at end and neglecting that 10 year monogamous relationship. Clearly an imbecile director. Even in a straight couple a month long is so meaningful, how much more that 10 years? What a JOKE
The ending is another an insult, it depict again another betrayal of a gay man. Showing "Antoine" talking/flirting with a woman. What a worst idea (just have a suitable woman and gay can be cast off, viola your straight now?!) *?!#.
This movie just a ruins the vision equality of happiness in romance and in life of a gay people. And I really want to use a all of banned words just to express how I was insulted after watching this entire film.
PK (2014)
For third world critics
I read some blogs and review hating and or giving low rating about this movie, and so on and so fort, its a copy of blah blah blah... First and for most it's a Hindi movie or should we say Bollywood Film. Come on people it's a new millennia now and still aren't we know what are Bollywood movies really are? Whether you like the movie or not, still, especially the critics must accept the fact on what is a Bollywood Movie really are. And it always goes to be a rendition or a copy from previous movies most of cases is from a Hollywood Films but I see nothing wrong in a Bollywood Film; for sometimes Bollywood came out to be a better copy than the original. So, 1. Do not compare this movie to "Oh my God" or whatsoever it is copied. They are different films, might have same storyline but still different. Judge something on its own alone and separate the other. 2. Do not compare this movie to international films(Hollywood, European Movies etc.). Every movies are make for the target audiences. So if we say maybe this works in India or Asia only, yeah maybe it should be 100% right, if you don't like it then leave it but if you're a foreign and come to love it, why not? 3.) Don't say its Racist for I see nothing. Be open minded and don't say its a blasphemy of religion. Accept the fact in mortal life we really came up to a situation that we questions the things we believe are. It's a matter of point of view and opinions. And I like how PK depicting it and avoiding the serious matters by mixing a satire comedy, alien and love story. 4.) I can say this is another awesome work from the director/writer Rajkumar Hirani and credits to staff and entire productions of PK. But their is nothing exceptional nor special in this movie. This is just a typical movie, not a brand new idea and acting are not even the best that the casts can show but as a whole the movie promise to entertain with all of the flavors that a Hindi/Bollywood (Dancing & Musical Interval etc.) movie can offer. So to those whining, quit it and the 8.5 rating in IMDb is a fact and irrevocable. 5.) Well its entertaining :)
Donne-moi la main (2008)
A Bland Mime
The story of Twin brothers whom decided to visit their unknown mother funeral without the consent of their father and so they elope and on their adventure they encounter a lot of life learning situation. They are twins and are brothers, they trust and love each other. But their adventure lead them to learn the differences between the two of them, the differences that fractured their relationship as siblings. The movie could be entirely improve but then the whole screenplay for me it becomes a bland mime. Most of the scene are understandable by gestures, no lines, no words. But the silence becomes too much that some scene becomes a question. Examples are; The sex scene between Quentin and the farm lad it never explains if Quentin is gay or what?, How Quentin escape from the man whom paid Antoine 100 euros?, how did he reach the cemetery first before Antoine? The woman who rescued Antoine whom abused him? What was clear to me is at the end scene, they were reunited at last but their relationship has been damage already. They fought to relieve their hatred with each other but then Antoine drowned. The cries of Quentin in fear to lost his brother means compassion that whatsoever at the end they are still brothers and love still remains. When Antoine was relieve Quentin stands up, turn around and leave Antoine alone which means departure. Their experiences in their venture shaped them to be man on their own. And the end scene it emphasizes that the two of them at the end will have to live a separate lives.

Shadow from the past
I like how the movie emphasizes a true situation when a certain person belong in the past(Troy) suddenly showed up and act its motive of recollecting what he believes belonged to him but it was in bad timing; for the love of his life Jonathan was already bond with Raul (its present & hopeful future). Even they hang-out, they hooked up, still Troy cant change what was already been changed by time, Jonathan committed his love, sealed & locked it to Raul. But Troy presence causes an impact of humiliation and questions to Raul, in his point view its clearly detailed that Troy is still something for Jonathan. The Jonathan character here for me defines as a senseless person that cant make up his mind nor decides what is better for himself. The three-way bed scene was unnecessary but maybe its the key for conclusion on Raul's situation. Hence every situation rely on Jonathan, he wasn't oblige to decide or to choose between the two but clearly he must distant himself against hooking up with Troy because he just doesn't know he's causing a pain already to Raul, the man he loves now. Troy is just like a shadow in the past lurking and messing in the present that don't have a value anymore, while Raul is a sheen of light, that was so bright and Jonathan was just simply blind that he neglect to appreciate the true worth in his life. I don't know if I was right but I believe at the very end Jonathan was left behind alone in his own (for me a person like him worth to be alone). Troy accepts the reality to move on and go back to Spain and seems Raul gave up his sacrifices too as the last scene he stare in his luggage and the empty room just means he leave Jonathan too.
Silent Youth (2012)
Can't figure out whats the movie really about?
Theirs too much silence & background noises that annoys me waiting for the next deliverance of each actors line, but maybe that's what the movie wanted to imply "silent". The actors are neither imply gay nor straight but on a state of coming out. I believe that the movie story wanted to show a common situation of two men(two strangers) in solitude that met and found comfort zone in each others company. Marlo seeking for any news about Sarah- I believe its her ex-girlfriend which he longing while Kirill is troubled by his family situation and claiming he has a son which the mother don't want him to see. But they were in a questionable situation "of what kind of relationship they're building with each other?"
Solo (2013)
Some Angel face Hides a Demon Within
All I can say is that this movie deceived me, I don't believe as its genre tells Thriller all I thought is sort of Mystery/Drama. But the director well really do a great job, and a good choice of actors, explicitly acted and flavored by those gay scenes and nudity will surely catch the attention of audiences (especially gay audiences). It really drove you deeply with curiosity by the word "SOLO". It lingers in my thoughts that main protagonist are basically coping his loneliness but with unpredictable gestures, script lines and emotions by the actors can really made someone focus on what shall happens next. Then it come to finale that destroys my gay fantasy, as it leads to a crime that answer why he's "SOLO" or why the movie titled it is then answered.
That Handsome Manuel got an angelic face that I only focused my eyes on him but then he's a devil within.
Neighbors (2014)
The good Idea is covered by a boulder of crap things!
I get the Idea of the movie about, *good parenting *fraternity's aren't useful in education *true friendship *fixing couples relationship *regret always comes at end *being responsible etc. But those are dumped and covered by a lot of shitty scenes in the movie. Every good thing are lost because of crap scenes it the movie such example in order to be a good parent do they really need to do those nasty stuff with frat-men?; its a bad thing to see a mother drunk, kiss & flirt. I know it's rated R but theirs some rated R movie that the themed and moral always reign but in this movie I cant help its hard to recognized those good scenes anymore because the movie was drowned by the goal of frat leader to have great party to be putted in frame and so those neighbors retaliation began. The good idea of movie is lost in those neighbors fighting. And can America do a movie without using the word "fuck" too much? Too much shouting too, are those called acting?
Luster (2002)
Another Awful Gay Themed Movie
The portrayal and the story was just perfectly be defined as awful. Their might be potential but then it was awful. "Luster" maybe it was all about a glow of feeling of every characters in the movie, such Sam feeling for Jackson is just like a luster, just a glow but faded to nothing; Jackson incest with his own cousin; Jackson's feeling to Billy etc., all are like a flash then gone. It was poorly emphasized, thanks that the actors aren't famous and after watching they will just pass and be gone in your mind. And the frontal nudity were useless but I get the point of Jackson character at end, "maybe he realizes he doesn't need to be fond and look for others, for the love of his life is just there for him waiting, and so he ran to Derek, afraid of losing him as he loses Sam".
Note: I always wanted to watch LGBT film that can showcase learning, the nature and life of LGBT people etc. but Luster isn't a good movie just poorly made.
C.O.G. (2013)
The Movie is just like a Fruit Salad; a mix of fruits, a mix of thoughts
This shouldn't be called really a Gay themed movie (the lead isn't gay at all) but for the sake of few gay scene it does called like it. This movie runs a story like in the Bible "The Prodigal Son" sort of like that. An arrogant, over confident, humble, smart ass, boastful, full of pride person that as he step into trying new in his life he found a lot of contradiction of what he believes in himself. As he met new people, he experience a lot of mixes, on thoughts, characteristics, etc; that not all people around him is just how he pictured, for example is his own mother( his mother also cares for him but its not as what he believe).
The movie is just a mix scenes of experiences of a person though you might learn in life but acting were not so good played.
Date and Switch (2014)
Another coming of age movie but exceptional and incomparable
Well I've seen a lot of coming of age and gay themed movies but this one is totally great and incomparable. How I loved that the plot and entire movie spent to be gay themed yet its not slutty and is a decent thing to watch. It is an another coming of age story yet it is not a boring because it is plotted with an outstanding story. Theirs essence and learning in the movie.I really appreciate that the story line stays from start to end to depict reality and not exaggerated. I really liked that the main sense which is "friendship" is valued and emphasized that what so ever change may come "friendship" is always unchangeable. Humor, Drama and every flavors in the movie are well balance so it is really an interesting movie to watch.
Dead Boyz Don't Scream (2006)
The Nudity is Just a flavor to a common & Usual Serial Murder Story
Pretty awful and worst movie, clearly just made for gay audiences entertainment.I never wonder why searching those actors in web don't have results about their bio and filmography , they were obviously random talents maybe desperate to do frontal nudity and the director just put little imagination about flavoring it with killing just to be called "a movie". Their acting and delivering every lines seems they were reading it from a visual aide and or memorizing it, their acting is just like a high-school play, you can't feel reality in the movie it is just pretty troll but at least I know dicks are always small if not erected, my insecurities are gone then. It says model, model? of what? We know not all male models post nude(maybe they were porn models) so that nudity is pretty useless clearly it is just a flavor to a boring movie. Because those serial killing are already a common story theirs a lot of movie with that kind of the same story. Well I admit those nudity and dicks were still entertaining to gay audiences. sorry.
