Titans: Jason Todd (2018)
Hold you PLEASE take the spoiler off the episode screen cap?
I actually read the comics, and can be pretty sure who the character in the episode screen capture is. If I had thought about it while watching (I'm a bit over halfway into the episode), I would have thought of the episode's "killer." Despite that, though, I'm sure that even non-comic-reading fans would appreciate NOT having a spoiler in the picture. Maybe a picture of the character the episode is TITLED after. Other than that though, GREAT episode and I like this version (the only one outside of the comic books so far) of Jason Todd. Hopefully the creators are proud of this too.
The Simpsons: I'm Dancing as Fat as I Can (2019)
Starts out fairly familiar, but becomes something new
Just so the reader knows- I've watched at least the first 13-14 seasons of the simpsons so many times, I've lost count, and I've managed to catch up to the current thanks to xfinity on demand. I don't say something about the show without meaning it/posting as a mindless fan willing to watch/consume anything with the name on it. This episode may not go down as the best of all time, but it certainly proves that the writers are very aware of their surroundings and how much streaming services all but control our actions. I commend this episode for its approach. It has dual plots (which, frankly I wish were more often used), and neither one outweighs the other. It has social commentary, but doesn't pick apart one thing or another/feel like a preachy commercial. It even has a few moments that are so subtle and quick, fans of the overall tone/humor of the show, will enjoy them. I don't want to spoil the plot or where it ends up, but I will say this: even after 30 years, The Simpsons writers manage to convey emotion and sincerity that you can feel in this episode. Don't believe me? Just watch it. It's less than 30 minutes in a time when 1 hour shows seem to make up major airtime.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013)
PLEASE Get rid of Gina!!
I'm not going to waste a review by explaining why this characters departure will be like a bad co-worker finally leaving the work place. People who watch the show KNOW why someone would want the character gone. This issue aside, the show is just FUN. Occasionally there are episodes that can be too series, but there is always some humor to cut the tension--even if it's brief. Andy Samberg plays a cop much in the vein of 90s Adam Sandler. Serious when need be, but with tendencies to lean towards goofy and optimistic. Terry Crews playing a character that feels like he is largely playing himself in real life--nice, polite, and goofy every time given an opportunity to be. While also, never shying away from being the serious, aggressive character when need be. Andre Braugher playing such a straight laced, by-the-books cop that is very rarely intentionally funny, but almost always in a way that helps make the show work. Amy and Boyle kind of took some time for me to get used to in the first few seasons, but over the years, they really help to round out the cast. If anyone is looking at reviews, and considering watching the show, I HIGHLY recommend it. Just PLEASE, for your own sake, mute or FF ALL of the Gina scenes. Despite the sometimes frequent appearances per episode, skipping them very rarely takes anything away from the plot, if at all.
Tusk (2014)
!Spoilers in the review, but a warning to stay away all the same!
I am almost more tired from watching this frustratingly bad movie, than I am just plain tired. Therefore, I am going to simply copy + paste a review (a first in itself) of a this movie (while considering doing something more formal should I decide I care enough to later) that I posted on the FB page for it already. "and here i thought Kevin might realize he SHOULDN"T be near-death level stoned while contemplating movie ideas after that horrible animated movie with mostly re-done material. pacing was painfully slow between the horror element being hinted at, and it being "executed," and it wasn't even scary. the music was done fairly well, but that walrus suit? are you kidding me? you can even clearly see a part where Justin's head dips in and out of it, like it's nothing but a twisted, and poorly done fat-suit that COULD HAVE looked like the one Eddie had for the Nutty Professor movies. the guy (the movie's villain character who doesn't share a real name) is clearly out of whack, and maybe it's because i've seen a lot of movies, but how in the hell is the angle of torture and mutilation even viable at all after 7 SAW movies, and garbage like "human centipede"? feel free to call me out for those who liked it, i just...i just hope no one that is determined to see it expects anything but a movie that MIGHT have been scary if it had been done MANY years ago. i'm almost mad at the person who told me to watch the horrendous thing, but it's not her fault it so largely sucked."
