American Mary (2012)
Brilliant!
The thing that annoys me most about the internet is that weirdo losers living in their mom's basement can stand in judgment of absolute brilliance. Anyone who gave this film a bad review is a complete and utter jackass. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but if you didn't like this film then yours is just wrong. The Soska Sisters have done it again, and with endorsements of their genius by such horror luminaries as Clive Barker, Eli Roth, and Daniel Schaffer I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone could not recognize the importance of this motion picture within a genre with so traditionally bereft of great offerings. Whatever kind of crack you're smoking perhaps you should share it with the rest of us so that we might, too, become so blissfully ignorant about the world around us. Here's an idea: shave off your stupid chin beard, lay off the Fritos, get out in the sun once in a while, and stop judging the innovative and refreshingly unique perspective of artists who are out there doing amazing stuff when you clearly know @#?! all about the creative process, writing, filmmaking, and perhaps, most importantly, the female experience. Just a thought.
Daredevil (2015)
Daredevil Redeemed
Outstanding! Simply outstanding! This show is like a love letter to the fans of the comic book and a complete and utter redemption for that Ben Affleck train wreck of a film that we, the die-hard Daredevil fans, were forced to endure. I couldn't be happier nor more surprised. The show is dark and edgy, pitting our beloved hero against a grim, unforgiving vision of New York City. It is simply light years ahead of anything I've come to expect (rather unfortunately) from the majority of Marvel's movie or TV adaptations. My sincerest thanks and kudos to all those involved. A total home run! You'd have to be blind not to see how great this show is! And to anyone who gave this show anything less than an 8 or 9, it's clear you're not a true fan of the comic. O.K. I'm done gushing now.
Se7en Below (2012)
God awful piece of @#*!
I know I must have seen worse movies in my life but I honestly can't remember when. The writing and directing (especially the pacing of the story line) are unforgivable. Carraway should be blacklisted from the industry and I don't feel that that is being hyperbolic on my part at all. This guy should NEVER be allowed to make another movie. EVER. Did he learn anything about writing or filmmaking before he embarked on this project because it certainly doesn't appear that way. I am literally ANGRY about having watched this amateurish clap trap. No, wait, that's an insult to amateur filmmakers who undoubtedly could have done a better film than this. I imagine that a considerable portion of the movie's budget went into getting Kilmer and Rhames on board but it did little to help the quality of the film. In fact, I'd say either man likely gave the worst performance of his professional career. But what do you expect with Carraway's horrible writing and seeming inability to properly give his actors something to do in a scene other than stand looking at one another in wooden, lifeless poses. I "love" how he escalates the action only to bring it back down again in this sort of anti-climactic sine wave that rolls irritatingly along throughout the movie. One minute they're yelling at Jack, convinced he's out to get them, and the next everyone's just walking around the house again having poorly written conversations. As much as Carraway is to blame for this pile, the fact that someone green lit this movie is beyond me. I know a lot of studios put out these horrible, typically straight-to-DVD releases to make a quick buck, but seriously, can't you at least try not to make them suck so completely. In short, this is movie is an absolute insult to all struggling writers and filmmakers looking for their big breaks. They work hard everyday to create compelling, innovative new stories, and you let THIS guy make a movie?
