The Handmaid's Tale (2017)
Well Done If You Can Stand The Vulgerity
I read the book. In some ways, the series is better than the book. However, the series has way too much sex, way too much brutality, way too much foul language. This story could have been told without making us suffer through every scene.
I do hope that the makers, and even the writer, has opened a door to all the possibilities going on around us that have to do with elites running things for the rest of us and it having nothing to do with "Christian religion".
Only Murders in the Building (2021)
Sorely Disappointed
I love murder mysteries. I love Steve Martin. This series, however, is so full of foul language that I can't even enjoy it. Is there some reason every sentence has to be potty-mouth? There are also some "adult" scenes in this series that I could have done without...
The Witcher (2019)
Great Story but Way Too Racy
It would be a good series, if there weren't really explicit sex scenes and nudity throughout the whole series.
The Red Sea Diving Resort (2019)
Good Historical Fiction That Even My Kids Can Watch
I am always happy with historical themes are used for movies; especially ones you don't hear about very often. I remember reading about this but it was a sideline article on the back page of the paper. This is the kind of theme we should see more off -- heroic men and women risking their lives for people they don't even know.
I really appreciate that there is very little violence, no sex and very few vulgar expletives. That's the way historical fiction should be so we can share it to our children.
I thought the film was well done.
The Oath (2018)
Not Funny and Quite Unnerving
I borrowed this from the library. The cover shows reviews that sate how 'hilarious' it is. It's not hilarious, it's not even funny. It's quite unnerving. The movie has no point, and there is way to much vulgar language.
A Simple Favor (2018)
Cuter Without The Smut
This was a cute story, however there was too much sex in it for my taste. Totally unnecessary to the plot line, this would have made a movie for all viewing audiences without the smut and bad language.
Menashe (2017)
Genuine Look at Ultra-Orthodox Life from the Eyes of a Widower
I really enjoyed this documentary. Although it's a documentary, it's done in a story-style that really brings it to life for the viewer. Although it's in Yiddish, there are subtitles. This story really portrays the control this community has on it's own and also the support they have for each other. It's truly a world for which we outsiders rarely get to glimpse.
Roman J. Israel, Esq. (2017)
Great Story and Denzel is Fabulous
For once, a new story instead of all stuff being rehashed. This is really fresh and Denzel Washington is fabulous.
Birthright: A War Story (2017)
Not sure why this is a documentary instead of a fiction story.
I thought documentaries were supposed to be based on unbiased, fact-based truth. This is total fiction.
Bright (2017)
Great Idea, Way too much foul language
I really like the idea of this show and I cracked up when they drive though Elven Town and all the elves are rich. However ... almost every line has a swear word. It ruins it for me.
