Force of Execution (2013)
holes, bad acting, unnecessary violence, but fun
Giving it a 5/10 due to Bren Foster alone. Everything else was cliché, boring, and you can see Hollywood trying so hard to keep Steven S. and Ving R. alive...for whatever reason. I'm shocked at the $10million budget IMDb reports as well. I'm kinda shocked to see that Gillie Da Kid (Nasir Fard or Farder) has no credits listed on IMDb. He was Ving R. right hand man in prison and on the streets....useless though he may be in the movie as he couldn't fight. But I'm a Philly native and I like to see people from my city do good. Bren Foster kept this movie alive for me...not with his acting...but with his martial arts. He's amazing. Got tired of him screaming "OY! OY! OY!" with every punch but it was easy to ignore knowing he's really doing these fight scenes.
The Confidant (2010)
a tale of friendship, lies, and revenge
I give this movie a two because of David Banner. While he is another rapper attempting a serious acting role...I think his role was accurate for him. However, the supporting cast did absolutely nothing to bring reality to this story. The story itself has a very selfish and confusing message that death, and murder can cure all your problems. Boris Kodjoe plays Nigel, an apparent super start athlete, although that is implied and never seen, who is also addicted to gambling. he kills a man who suspects him of cheating which was true, and has his friend (Banner) take the fall for it right at that moment. It was also implied that everyone knew Nigel was a cheat and lier. 11 years past by and Banner is now set to collect the debt owed to him. When Nigel cant pay up, Banner takes his revenge out on his wife...turning into a psycho he kills the maid right away. Nigel's gambling addiction lands him in hot water, which was set up by Banner. When Nigel realizes the whole thing is a revenge plot against him he kills banner. a total of two murderers and four deaths occur in the movie, and in the end, one of the murderers gets his life back. What the moral of the story? Kill all those who cause you problems? Kill those you lied to and hope for a better future? I was not surprised to find out that Alton Glass both wrote and directed this unrealistic film filled with pointless sex scenes and murder. However, the sex scenes alone gave this movie a two star rating.
