Jim Gaffigan: Dark Pale (2023)
It was fine - the whining conservative reviews are not
So many anti science reviews, holy crap! I find it amusing that conservatives call young progressives "snowflakes" only to get so offended that a comedian insulted their misguided beliefs. How are you still so oblivious to facts? Vaccines are not a debate, climate change is not a debate, this is why he can make the jokes about them that he does and not have his career harmed one bit. You far, far overestimate how many people have backwards beliefs when you think he's going to alienate half his audience. He hasn't, he isn't, he won't.
This was not my favorite special of his, but not because he made fun of antiscience know-it-alla because get saw something on Facebook, but because a lot of the jokes were repetitive. Still worth a watch, if only to spite the snowflakes in these reviews.
The Simpsons: Poorhouse Rock (2022)
Loved it!
There's delicious irony in the fact that those who call others "snowflakes" seem to get the most upset when their viewpoints are challenged. Lots of "I'm done watching! Too biased!". Who are the real snowflakes?
This was an excellent episode and my favorite in many seasons. There were many facts in Lisa's song, and they are indisputable. Calling them opinions, as some reviews have done, doesn't make them any less true or factual.
The episode was clever and witty throughout and Bart's appreciation for Homer in the first half of the episode was touching. As for the rest of the episode, as another review stated, sometimes the truth hurts.
The Larry Sanders Show: Eight (1995)
A real treat!
This episode was a blast from beginning to end and a who's who of television at the time. Now in the tail-end of my 30s it was like revisiting my childhood to see all of these guest stars.
Mike Birbiglia: The New One (2019)
Still got it!
I don't have children (and never plan to - I'm being very clear!), and this was hilarious. So glad to see Mike still doing his thing and as funny as ever.
Perfect Bid: The Contestant Who Knew Too Much (2017)
Lots of fun!
What a fun story, told with some interesting behind the scenes bits.
Some reviews say they loved it but give it a bad rating because Drew Carey swears in a previously recorded interview they show excerpts from. Who cares?! They are words. Your children will be just fine, the sky is not falling, everything will be okay. Just absolutely ridiculous and silly for an adult to be so distressed by words.
