Strange Magic (2015)
Unwatchable rubbish
There is so much wrong with this mess I don't even know where to begin.
Many people were quick to mention the songs, and they're right, it's just hideous, monotonous and un-ending. Constant pop renditions of old songs, sung by winged meth addicts doing barrel rolls in HD until you're ready vomit from the motion sickness. I'm not kidding, this movie spends at least 50% of the time in mid-air, in mid-barrel roll, while singing at you, about 'love'.
Everything about this, especially the story, feels bland, generic, and forced. The voices are extremely forgettable, the character design is especially bad for the fairies, and again, the songs are just... a warcrime.
I think this might be the last George Lucas production I ever bother watching. I can't understand how he could get it so right sometimes and so wrong here. This garbage should be blasted at ISIS around the clock as psychological warfare.
The Bastard Executioner (2015)
Terrible, high budget, child abuse
Hey kids of single parents, this show is here to remind you of how terrible you are, in case TV let you forget that your existence is the most common insult allowed. In case that's not enough child abuse for you, there's plenty more. Babies and children being killed for your vicarious enjoyment! Get the popcorn, lets watch some babies get stabbed! Bigots and child abusers, rejoice, now FX has helped legitimize the discrimination against children of single parents! There is not much else going on with this waste of time. No decent fight scenes, no accuracy. The chain mail is apparently made out of pudding because swords slash right through it. This show and any of its advertisers should be boycotted by all decent people.
Spy (2015)
Not very good
The idea of the CIA being 'good guys' is already very difficult to believe. But it's a movie I can set aside my cynical doubts long enough to have a laugh but unfortunately there are not many in this movie.
Melissa McCarthy gives it an admirable try, I can't really fault her she just needed better material. Jude Law was pretty respectable too.
Jason Statham was just horrible, not funny at all, and he felt tacked on at the end, like they made the movie, decided it needed more something, and added him in. That's not really what happened, Statham was involved since shooting started, but that's how it felt anyways.
By the end it just drags on. I think it's because they only have a couple gags/jokes and they implement them all multiple times, wearing out the humor factor quickly.
Dark Summer (2015)
Much better than I expected
This movie was well made, entertaining, had a lot of twists and was really unexpected. Much, much better than the 4.3 it currently sits at. The acting was good, the story was good and production values are high. I hope to see more by the team that made this happen. The soundtrack and audio production is particularly strong. The visual effects are well made, especially because they don't seem to involve too much digital CGI. This movie was a nice break from the 'insidious'/'sinister'/'paranormal activity' style movies that have taken over the horror/thriller genre.
Because film crews often post extremely positive reviews (like this) on IMDb, I want to make it clear that I am not involved in the production of this movie in any way, nor is anyone I know.
C.H.U.D. II: Bud the Chud (1989)
Bad on every level
OK do I get to really rip on this thing without having watched all of it? I'm going to anyways. How much of spoiled milk do you need to drink before you know not to drink the rest? I couldn't make it through 10 minutes of this. It was just horrible.
Especially because I liked the original C.H.U.D., quite a bit. I thought the story and effects of the first CHUD to be very nice, and even the acting was pretty decent, despite what other reviewers have said. So imagine my dismay when I started this thing up and the monster has no effects, no gore, no nothing that makes a horror movie a horror movie, nothing even the slightest bit startling. Just a little bit of white powder, some dark powder around the eyes. That's not a CHUD! It's just not. If they wanted to call it some other totally unrelated movie, I would not give it the lowest possible rating. But they didn't, they took a movie i really liked and absolutely trashed it with complete disregard for the tastes of the original's viewers. So they just wanted target audience they knew they otherwise had no chance of getting it. It's just a sucker punch, knowing that some people would get roped into this horrible movie simply because they loved the original so much. C.H.U.D. 1 is still a very popular movie and it really holds up well. Bud the Chud, however, never should have happened. Frankly i think the original holders of the creative content should find a way to sue the current owner until they relinquish all claim to it. Current holder of the creative content amounts to an unfit parent.
I can not understand how the votes or comments are less than horribly negative here. All i can imagine is that I hear of a teacher involved in this production, and I think they have their students in here saying nice comments and voting it up. They will probably vote this review down but it doesn't make it any less true! If you liked the first C.H.U.D., DO NOT WATCH THIS. It actually made me kinda angry. They could have made some really great CHUD sequels but instead we got this *bleep*.
Maybe its because someone involved in this travesty is a teacher, they were able to abuse that position to attain the rights from the first C.H.U.D, like it was a student project or something? I just don't understand how a movie this bad happens without everyone involved knowing that they're basically scamming people out of their money.
