In the Night Garden... (2007–2009)
10/10
Honestly one of the best written shows I've ever seen
27 January 2018
It's rare to come across a show that has the perfect balance of dramatic tension, comedic relief, and epic story-lines. The relationships between the characters never seem forced or pushed, they all develop naturally as the seasons progress. This show is very similar to Breaking Bad in a sense that what you get at the beginning is not what you'll have by the ending, similar also to Breaking Bad, 'In the night garden' is truly a show about the process of transformation, about going from one state to another, and I don't think I'm alone in saying that it did it better than BrBa. You'd be doing yourself a disservice to skip over this.

It's easy to draw comparisons to shows like 'Game of Thrones', 'Breaking Bad', 'Mr Robot', 'Doctor Who' and 'The Wire' but in the end, 'In the night garden' is a rare, unique gem, you'd be hard pressed to find another show that can add this many layers of tension and not crumble under the pressure it's put on itself. Every single episode (except for maybe some in the middle of season 3, the shows ONLY slightly weak spot), is absolutely fantastic and will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end, and let me tell you, the finale of the final season does not disappoint, all the differing story arcs collide together in an epic final episode which ties up every loose end and leaves you wanting more, but satisfied with the stories incredible, heart wrenching climax, expect tears. It's close to impossible to find another show with writing THIS consistently perfect.

With a series this tightly written, perfectly directed and incredibly acted, I just can't see any show stealing it's #1 spot for a very very long time. In a sense this is the pinnacle of all television, this is the finest example of the small-screen out-performing the big-screen. I personally can't wait to see what the creators do next. Do yourself a favour and watch this, this is literally the perfect show.

Proud to say that 'In the Night Garden' receives a perfect '10'

Mr. Robot: eps3.7_dont-delete-me.ko (2017)
Season 3, Episode 8
9/10
Absolutely phenomenal episode - also some comments on other reviews
30 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
What a gorgeous episode, absolutely beautiful in every way. This episode slows everything down from the last few episodes in the best way, we get to go on this small journey with Elliot, seemingly at least a little bit disjointed from the rest of the overarching plot, the acting, the cinematography, the music, the directing, the everything, Mr. Robot does it again, and that aspect ratio.. ooh boy. Another fantastic installment of TV's best series. Cannot wait to see where this goes.

Also, to the guy who's commenting on the "screenplay" you're talking about the cinematography, the screenplay is the script, also this majority of this episode is in 2.35:1 not 2.40:1, and just because the rest of the show isn't shot like this doesn't mean it's not shot like an "actual drama", they just break the rules haha

and to the guy who said the story in this episode "wasn't really relevant" did we watch the same episode? Yes it was slower, Yes it wasn't on the scale of the previous 3 episodes, but it shouldn't have been, it's a character episode, we learn SO much about the characters and about where they all are psychologically right now, how you could think anyone should skip this episode... if you only want big buildings blowing up and tyranny in the streets you may want to find another show, this is a character drama, this was a beautiful character episode

I never thought anything would top Breaking Bad
16 November 2017
For the longest time, I held Breaking Bad in the highest regard, I considered it to be the best of the best, the pinnacle of film/TV. For the life of me I honestly never believed anything could top it, then Mr. Robot began, and it was f**king good, no it was f**king great, but one killer season isn't enough to judge a show, so I kept watching, expecting the quality to dip, or waver, or for the showrunners to lose grip of what they'd started, but no, it kept getting better, it kept getting bigger, and it kept getting closer and closer to the bar breaking bad had set, and then, last week happened. For the first time, I'd come to terms with the idea of something being as good as breaking bad was, and now.... NOW... THIS. F**KING. EPISODE.

I now can firmly, and confidently say that this episode solidified, for me, this show as the greatest production of Film & Television of all time.

Everything about this episode was perfect, it was absolutely f**king brilliant in every f**king regard. F**k me. The writing was perfect, the mood was perfect, it was fresh, original, suspenseful and totally and utterly gripping. I cannot begin to thank Sam Esmail, this man has raised the bar for storytelling. Everything about this show deserves the highest of praise. The cast? On the absolute top of their game. The music? Better and better every single week, Mac Quayle, you are a genius and we are all so grateful. The directing? more unique, more phenomenal, Sam, we love you. The cinematography? Good lord the cinematography... incredible, every week, incredible, incredible, incredible. This show has changed the game, reset the bar even higher than before and for the foreseeable future, in my eyes, solidified it as the single greatest production of film or Television.

Yeah, this episode rocked.

Death Note (I) (2017)
8/10
As a fan of the source material, I sincerely enjoyed Netflix's Death Note
26 August 2017
I'm giving this film a 7.5, because it's a great film, it's not perfect no, there's a few problems with it, but it's by no means a bad film. I'm a fan of the manga, I've got all of it, I then became a fan of the anime, watched all of it, and now I'm a fan of the adaptation! The thing people need to know is that they changed the story, this isn't just a cut and paste of the death note anime into a film, they made it into it's own story. The female lead was pretty unlikable and changed light's motives from the original material, but I don't mind that because it's different! This film is extremely well made, the cinematography is gorgeous and the directing is superb, I'm a big fan of Adam Wingard. Watch this film, but watch it for what it is! It's not the same as the anime, but it's fantastic in it's own right, I'm seriously disappointed by the backlash towards this film, I hope once the butthurt anime and manga fans clear out the rating will rise as the general public realises how good this film is.

Friends from College: Welcome to New York (2017)
Season 1, Episode 1
8/10
Surprised at such a low score, I thought this was a great pilot!
22 July 2017
The show is currently sitting on a 6.7, which seems ridiculous to me, the directing was good, the writing was good, the acting was good. It set up all of the characters pretty well, although it does tend to pull me out of the show a bit when it seems like there's a forced sense of diversity (the friendship group has the white, the Asian, the black, the gay etc. not that that's an issue at all, I just don't like when things are written like that because people would be offended if they weren't).

The story progressed pretty naturally, the plot was set up well and overall executed well too, I'm surprised people aren't really getting into this. The cinematography was great too, really nicely shot.

Overall probably an 8.5/10! Looking forward to where this show goes, give it a try!
