Just like the house, something is a little off
26 May 2024
First off it's really not a bad movie, I thought it would be horrible after the first couple minutes but that never happened. There was something so strange here that I actually found it compelling and hard to look away. I know it's a B movie with B or lower actors and film crew but I really left impressed with the lead actors and would like to see them in bigger productions.

The horror was more fun than horror but there were definitely some super creepy moments but the fun side overrides all of that even when bad stuff happens there s a bit of humor or fun to it all.

I dont think this will be one of those movies that i come back to again but I dont feel like I lost anything by watching it. Bottom line is good fun horror on a budget with a couple decent actors (a couple ,not all).

For the budget and crew I think there is really something here to be proud of!

Civil War (2024)

Doing the review 3/4 of the way through it
20 April 2024
This is slow pretentious garbage. Not sure what I expected but as soon as my life partner wakes up we'll be leaving.

I've seen war movies and press as savior movies and this is the worst of both worlds. This makes that lady on TikTok that we all know and hate look vital and relevant for the makeup and kitten documentaries that she posts every few days.

The only part of the movie that I could get excited about was the thought of Ron Swanson as president. I think we'd all agree that he's best non Kennedy candidate we could hope for... I'm also pretty sure that anyone calling this important or vital is most likely working for the studio. I look forward to seeing real reviews coming next month when it's streaming.

obviously inspired by Dexter but...
5 April 2024
I've never watched a kiwi show before and did not know what this was when I downloaded it but it was dark fun for me. I think if you go into it expecting Dexter you will be disappointed but if you take it for the fun murderous romp that it is you can enjoy it. It doesnt take itself too seriously and is an easy binge.

Now I have to manage 200 more characters so I'm from Ohio, I found Sally kind of cute, maybe not wife cute but fooling around and free sandwiches cute for sure. I dont know how this stacks up against other shows from that strange land but like I said this to me was a fun easy binge- I've met the character threshold so thanks for playing.

***OK now I've finished the series and need to update the review*** The Dexter fanboys that are disparaging this show are wrong and filled with blind Dexter fanboy rage- it has Dexter themes but is different i many ways and stayed fast paced and fun throughout all 6 episodes and had a strong ending that lets it stand as a good one season effort but also leaves the door open to series two if it goes that way.

I've told a few friends about it already and told one specifically who was not familiar with Dexter that they need to watch this first so as not to be blinded by Dexters brilliance. If you arent comparing it it stands up as a fun and strong show- so lighten dudes and let yourself enjoy a fun new show!

Read up before watching
5 March 2024
We spent the first half hour dazed and confused. We just played it not knowing what it was about or even that it starred Adam Sandler so it took a while to recalibrate the expectations. It turned out to be a deep dive into man's search for meaning but while possibly on acid or in the midst of a nervous breakdown. If you go into it expecting an Adam Sandler movie you will be disappointed but if you watch it objectively as the arthouse film it's trying to be you might be happily surprised.

I watched it with a friend who loves art films and Happy Gilmore and he also had that perplexed look on his face for a while but when it was over we didn't feel like we wasted two hours. I'm not sure if I'll be watching it again but I suspect if I do I'll keep gaining more understanding each time.

Best Godzilla parody ever!
22 August 2020
This is classic Police Squad type of humor and the camera work felt like classic 50s/60s monster movie style. Three of us watched this today by accident and couldnt turn it off. My 8 year old girl, 48 year old wife and myself (50s) all truly enjoyed it and it's clean campy style. Keep in mind this is a godzilla parody and not On the Waterfront(1958)- If you dont take it and yourself too seriously you should find this quite entertaining!

Great drama whether you're a hacker or not
30 August 2015
This show works on so many levels and as a result you really don't need to be into computers or hacking etc.. to enjoy. If you do know your networks you will find that it stays within the boundaries of reality unlike many hacking shows/movies. If you remove the geeky elements you are still left with a gripping drama with good expected and unexpected twists.

Great casting (I'm a Slater fan but beyond that aspect of it the actors really do the character justice. The writing is also strong and I personally like that they do try to keep the hacking aspects fairly believable.

Definitely worth a try!
