Pretty cool thriller movie.

There are a few points where this movie lags. But it is actually pretty good overall. It's not ultra predictable like a lot of the newer ghost movies. And the ending is really good and freaky with the actual full visualization of the ghost underwater. The neighbor thing could have been a bigger part of the film. They started it out really well and then didn't go anywhere with it. The neighbors were written in freaky, but then just turn out to be butt heads pretty much. That was disappointing. Harrison Ford was cool in this film. Michel Pfeiffer did a good job, although her character was a little whiny at times. There was some cool back story added to her character that helped keep the movie from being predictable. The small role Wendy Crewson played was a nice addition. Always nice to see her in a film. I recommend this film for a laid back rainy evening at home.

Funny family flick.

This second installment of the Santa Clause franchise wasn't quite as good as the first movie, but it was a very good film on it's own. I don't think the first Santa Clause can be topped, but this is a decent sequel. The old characters we know from the first movie all return and the new ones introduced could have used a teeny bit more characterization, but were overall enjoyable. The Santa impostor has some pretty hilarious moments/lines. While a weird idea, it worked for this movie. You should be in the mood for a very silly light hearted fantasy tale when you watch this movie. Watch the ending credits for some funny added footage from the film.

Not so great.

I got about halfway through this movie and was very disappointed. It was just flat out boring and completely unrealistic. I can get past being unrealistic in a lot of movies, but not when it's supposed to be a crime drama thing. The evidence collection and interview processes were just plain oddball. I started fast forwarding to see how it ended. And then got bored with that and just turned it off and returned it. The main character, played by Ellen Barkin, just wasn't believable at all. Peta Wilson acted very well in this film, but her character was way out there and there wasn't anyone for her acting talents to play off of that made it work.

Jack (2004 TV Movie)

A good honest movie that gives you something to think about.

This was an honest and moving film. The actors all did fine jobs, adults and children alike. Some movies seem to try to convince you of something while you're watching, this one didn't. It was simply a good story that makes you think. You're watching this family's life unfold in front of you (or fall apart in front of you depending on how you want to look at it). There are sort of two stories going on at once and both are interesting. The second story involves domestic violence and seeing the kids and their different reactions was interesting. This movie basically revolves around parents that both adore their son Jack yet he's presented with a lot to deal with. The second family in the story have their own more common problems and while the mom in that family (Wendy Crewson) seems like a total sweetheart and a doting, loving mom and friend, she is also dealing with her own huge problems at home. All of the trials these people endure they handle well for the most part. It is an interesting laid back movie. The kid that played Jack was cool in this movie and Stockard Channing was awesome (as usual) as was Wendy Crewson (despite her smaller role).
