Reminiscence (2021)
Reconcile Reminiscence with Sci Fi
This movie touched my romantic heart but left my Sci Fi mind in the proverbial
"Reminiscence Tank." If you remember or saw ANON with Clive Owen, you'll probably draw similarities in this story.
Should you have a go at it you must watch it till the end. That part of the movie is the final piece of the puzzle. I couldn't have imagined the end. Is it a happy ending? Some will say yes, some maybe and some will just say no! It's not really a tight movie, but tight enough to say Reminiscence is a love story. I liked it, but then again I'm a romantic and a Sci Fi fan.
It's hard to view an action movie trailer, that they decided to portray this as, in these days of John Wickham shoot them up, fistfights and such, it's not even a near match.
Cast members Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson fit quite well together. Thandiwe Newton and Angela Sarafyan, are instantly recognizable from the Westworld TV series. The creators of this movie, as I understand it, are also the creators of the Westworld production. All the cast members are solid actors in their own right.
I Am Joe (2016)
Joe, Jack or Bob?
The Messiah could not save this film. Ah a dude in a black suit (ala blues brother) gets involved with the CIA and a radical mentally unstable Jewish cult. It is perhaps filmed at a motel 6 in 3 days. Ah no it just seems that way. It has something to do with quasi Quantum Physics and maybe goofy time travel. It's all justified by quoting Albert Einstein a lot.
Tomorrowland (2015)
I want my 2 hours plus back for watching
The movie seemed like a first time director, writer with some incredible great ideas. They how ever never make it on to the screen. This movie lacks any form of continuity. Shirley Mclaine once said " A movie must have a soul, I don't under the movie Matrix but it has a soul." This movie can run an 1 hour and you will find yourself looking for a plot. In fact you can cut out the first hour and you will have missed nothing. You can sit and ask yourself when is this movie going to start? It's a pie cut 24 ways, all of the slices are completely different in taste. Disney must have spent a ton of money making great sets and CGI effects but that does not make a movie. Spoiler* Bad Dude Hugh Laurie is going to destroy Earth. George Clooney is suppose to save it along with a robot girl and a young lady. O.k. The last 20 minutes tries to tie it up into a neat package with a bow. The is a 2 hour movie that if edited might make a 15 minute short. With all the special effects and angry George let's say a 10 minute movie.
American Odyssey (2015)
Lower your expectations
Lower your expectations and you will always be happier. Come on this is a TV series and forget how outlandish or technically incorrect it is at times. If you distrust our government in some of the things it does let it be your X file. " The truth is out there" according to agent M. Do you believe that huge corporations could benefit from war? Do you believe that the U.S. would favor certain terrorists if it meant a Senator or CEO could make a hefty bundle? If you answered yes this show is great. It makes you really believe that the show is dishing out real world dirty underwear and pushing the political envelope. It might make you think some of this is true. I loved the cast, settings, the run, talk, shoot, drive and tension it produces. Maybe it created too much tension therefore I do not believe they will get another season.
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011)
A joy ride
Oh let's be children once again and sit back and be prepared not take your eyes off the screen. It is one delicious moment after another and meant to enjoy like Cir de Sole, Matrix, Aliens, Romancing the stone. I sometimes just love to have all my brain cells take a skip, hop and a jump. No it's not Gone with the wind or Ghandi- great movies, but it does allow for visual enjoyment at it's best. Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law and the dog are just wonderful. There's a plot in there oh yes Good Verse's Evil but for the most part it is action packed from the beginning to end. If they stop the franchise now it will be remembered as a good romp and a whole lot of fun for the price of a ticket. One more and it will be over the top. Sometimes the movie does take you over the top but before you fall off the ledge it redeems itself. If they go for number 3 think of Aliens. Yep they will ruin it. As far as Digital Fx, come if they are a least somewhat transparent let it go, but when the do the castle on top of the mountain for instance next to the raging river it is way too obvious. Remember when the cut LT. Danes legs off in Forest Gump I mean DIGITALLY OF COURSE, that was great. I could not figure how they pulled that stunt. The joy ride comes to end and you just don't want to go back to reality.
