The Upshaws (2021)
Funny as hell! Can we just be irreverent for a second!
Love this show. I have a serious job in the medical field and this show keeps me laughing and in good spirIts. We need humor. Thank you.
Downsizing (2017)
Beautiful solid movie
Beautiful movie about what it means to come out of heartache and become a person that cares about the insignificant/ small (often forgotten) people in society. The backdrop to the story is a quirky love story that had me chuckling and crying at the same time.
Being Serena (2018)
Love seeing this side of Serena
Love that we get to see a little piece of the personal world of this incredible athlete...now mommy and wife. Wish you and your family all the best.
Random Acts of Flyness (2018)
Powerful, Magical, Mind - F(ed), Delicious!
What is this wayward deliciously delightful Ness?
Last time I was this titilated was on the A train to no parts in particular shopping a full day in Manhattan, going to a street fair
And walking home by the magical shop lights of the city of Gotham. All the while thinking that the world of possibilities lay verdant at my feet. Thank you. Thank you!
Insecure (2016)
Loving Issa's journey
Loving this show. Sorely needed. Exciting seeing the everyday struggles and triumphs of black singles in La. Reminds me of sex in the city - a show that sorely missed the mark in totally ignoring black and brown New Yorkers. Thank you.
The Royal Hibiscus Hotel (2017)
Great acting and love story
Loved. Loved this film. It's so refreshing to see wonderful love stories coming out of Africa. I am now searching for these actors in other movies.
Bazodee (2015)
This movie makes me want to visit Trinidad & Tobago!!!
This is a feel good love story. Loved the fusion of cultures and loved the music. Hope to see more movies like this.
The Climb (2017)
Wonderful, Witty Film
I could totally relate to this young woman when I was in my twenties - not having a clue at times. Looking forward to seeing more of this young lady's climb to the top. Also, her best friend is a friend you would want to have. I am intrigued by the whole idea of her trying to find something that would make her happy in such a possession driven world.
Dancehall Queen (1997)
a tale of triumph in the Jamaican ghetto
This is a heartwarming story. So often we watch stories about cultures we would never entertain being a part of but somewhere in the meat of the story we are drawn in. this story takes place in a Jamaican ghetto and shows us that even in the brash vivid stroked lives of those who live hand to mouth everyday there exists poetic justice and the charm of the unaffected life. The characters were believable and passionate.
I cried and laughed and commiserated with Marcia and her family and yes, found myself wishing that I too could have been there if only for a day. I loved the music and was surprised to find so much variety in dancehall music such as Chaka Demus' song "whats the move" and Beeniemans song "dancehall queen".
