LOVE IT !!!!
23 November 2021
Wow okay just wow. The ending of season 1 was literally so so awesome, I loved the mixed scenes in the ending and I am just so ready for season 2. The author was just so creative to think of making this series, and dividing the time periods to 1963 1984 and 2019. It seemed as if I was watching 3 different shows that connected really well. Like omg I don't even know how to describe this, such an awesome show!

Netflix don't have a blue
23 November 2021
I am trying not to be biased against netflix productions.

But this movie was ridiculous.

The story is weak and the main protagonist is a loser.

His brother who hunts vampires (without us knowing how he got to this point) is a complete idiot.

His girlfriend gets abducted and he knows that the vampires are out to get him and what does he do?

He gives his (more stupid) brother his professional ride and asks him to pretend it is him.

The love story between the loser and the vampire is ridiculous and totally unconvincing.

At the end he becomes a vampire and wants to lure the couple he does not like in to the car.

The only reason I gave 3 stars is because I have watched even worse vampire movies.

At least this one had decent cinematography.

Megan Fox appeared for 3 minutes only to die without even showing in the camera.

The movie follows the rule tell don't show. They were too lazy to show things and the vampires were shouting exposition all the time, explaining everything we could have seen in the movie.

As a plot, what they do is similar to the first Blade movie. A vampire tries to take out everyone else in power.

And he does it by sending his two vampire girls. There was nothing establishing why this was even possible.

How Victor was that strong and able to kill so many vampires on his own. How the two vampire girls were able to kill so many vampires at the parties they were attending.

What was so special about them anyway?

And I am afraid that there will be a sequel. Since Maria was killed off camera and Victor was supposedly eating her at the diner.

But I think she was turned into a vampire the way Blade's mother was turned into a vampire.

I hope there won't be a sequel. All characters were unlikeable. The brother who hunts vampires has that stupid look on his face 24/7 , he looks sad all the time.

The loser is a bad actor as well. He sees them killing people and he doesn't even react.

I am sad because I haven't seen a decent vampire movie for a very long time.

LOVE
22 November 2021
I expect many will consider this a little sentimental and even superficial. To me it's clearly not made as a history of those early days but rather how a normal working class everyday family tries to adapt to change all around then. The change isn't just politics but social attitudes as well. The slow realisation that life can't carry on as before but is the sacrifice for a different life which might or might not be better worth it? Nostalgia often gets a bad reputation in films but what is nostalgia? In its purest form it's just an act of remembrance of past events. So yes this film one could say is nostalgic and for me it's all the better for being so. When the Guardian review was so poor I knew I would love it and I did.

Embarrassingly bad
19 November 2021
This film was embarrassingly bad. It had some good cinematography and creature designs. Some entertaining action. Milla Jovovich was good here, she really tried and was let down by the abysmal writing. Some of the set pieces and uses of gore were cool. With a couple of interesting moments and some good Asian representation.

BUT where to start with the negatives, there was a complete lack of any form of character background or set up so we didn't know or care about the characters. There was no set up or explanation to the story world or plot. The pacing was incredibly rushed, never letting any of the scenes sink in and making the film extremely clunky and messy. The script was abysmal. There was countless lapses in the logic. There was lazily set up situations just for action that was very forced and, despite being entertaining never stuck the landing due to having no purpose or reasoning to it. There was random characters introduced multiple times that just helped for 5 minutes and then died. The action was very forced. There was absolutely no character development or depth. I didn't care about a single character. There was practically no plot at all with no explanation whatsoever it was just all pointless action. It was tonally off multiple times and actually laughable when it wasn't supposed to be. There was a lack of variety with the monsters. It was predictable, and the final act was messy and lazily set up a sequel.

So overall, Milla Jovovich tries her best, and if you forget about everything which is difficult, it looks nice and is mostly entertaining. But there is nothing beyond the surface level. It was embarrassing, messy, lazy, generic, lacked purpose, explanation or meaning and the list goes on. The worst video game adaptation I have seen and my worst film of the year so far.

Surreal and super tight
3 November 2021
This super tight 80 minute revenge flick kept me interested, and on the edge of my seat, every single step of the way. I wasn't sure how I initially felt about it while watching but the more time ticked away the more I came to love it. It does kind of make me feel queezy inside at the brutal violence, but I respect movies that can genuinely do that. It's definitely a movie that feels real (like you're watching things that could really happen) and it's also very violent and disturbing; but it also has a significant amount of dark humor (here and there), to keep things entertaining (the laughs never feels forced or unnatural though) and it also has the element of surprise in that is what we are watching real or imagined by Harry? O'Neill's performance is remarkable. It feels a lot like a Coens Brothers' flick, just on a slightly smaller (and lower budget) scale!

Scarface (1983)

The best
9 September 2012
Al Pacino in one of his stellar performances. This film was absolutely slaughtered by the critics when it first came out and is now a classic, shows what the moronic sheep that are the critics know.

The over the top, colourful operatic direction by Brian De Palma and the perfect acting from all involved.

The production design is a feast for the eyes. Eberybody quotes this film and its real treat by Oliver Stone for supplying some of the most memorable lines ever.

"Scarface" is a movie where there's always something going on. Its ultra violent, but the over- the-top language, the humor, make it very fun to watch. Once again, Al Pacino is genius here, at his best. You can sympathize with his character, because he probably never had a proper education and was never really taught what's right and wrong.

I wish the de palma, stone and pacino would work together again.

Love it
20 August 2012
It starts of very slowly, not showing that it will differ from the previous two instalments in the franchise, but when Bourne enters the London train terminal, all hell breaks out.

There is a short break in Madrid, and then the chase in Tangiers starts. For me, this is the best action scene in movie history. There have been many rooftop chases in movie history, but this one is truly incredible. Its simplicity, power, speed, suspense is unparallelled. The shaking camera, which a lot of people point out as the weak spot of the movie shows its true meaning in this scene, and i think it, alongside the incredible movie score, is its strong point. Of course, the screenplay, acting, directing, sound, picture, and not to forget the best stunts ever seen in a motion picture make this movie truly the best.

This movie is not more than a compilation of three huge action scenes put together with breaks in between, but that is why this movie is so brilliant.
