Kidnapping, assault, & isolation
11 July 2020
Yep that's about all that's in this movie. Oh and weird sex scenes. This is just another movie, in a line that's way too long, where the woman is independent but the second a rich controlling man shows interest she forgets who she is to fall in love. This just tells woman that if he has money but is controlling that's ok. He really loves you. I can't BELIEVE this is in Netflix top 10

Where Suicide Squad was a dumpster fire this is just a dumpster. This was just all over the place and nowhere at the same time.

Spectacular

A new twist on a classic!! I was hesitant when I heard about the remake. I'm a huge fan of the originals and hate when they trash them for a quick buck. However this took the original story and made it modern. You had the jump scares but mostly it's an intense ride of fear that keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is what modern horror should strive to be!!

Based on a true story??
8 November 2019
Ok so we all know that based on a true story really doesn't mean that it always is. But from what I know about the true story it starts pretty close. I guess that's why it doesn't push the story far enough. For me I wish there was more to it. It was almost scary. Almost creepy enough. It seemed to have so much potential yet it kinda fell flat for me. Just falling short. I really enjoyed it but I wish it had gone a little further. From what I understand it did go farther than the "true story" it's based on but for a scary/horror movie I had hoped for just a little more suspense. But I guess they only had so much to work with.

COMIC BOOK Accurate!!
4 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This show is amazing. The characters here are just like in the comic books. This is not Arrow. It's not serious all the time. Yes the are members of the lgbtq community because they were in the original story. And Kate and Bruce are cousins.

I'm not sure how many people that have left reviews have ACTUALLY read Batwoman comics but this is dead on! She was a lesbian in the comics, she cane to town after Bruce left....I could go on with everything people have gotten wrong about the show but I won't.

A Halloween tradition!!
2 November 2019
I watch this every Halloween and a couple of times in addition. It follows a town as they celebrate Samhain (or Halloween). There are all going on at the same time. My favorite part is just when you think you know how it's going there's a twist. It's different than you typical Halloween movie (your Jason and Freddy) which makes this fun. The way it circles around reminds me of some of my favorite Japanese and Korean horror films. If your a fan of horror and haven't seen this....what are you waiting for!

Not for everyone

I live for horror but this just missed the mark for me. I liked parts but it just seemed like a knock off Saw. It was violent and bloody but without the plot. Maybe I just missed it. It's not bad, this my rating, but I just feel like it could have been more. More memorable, more interesting and more fun if the plot was clearer. But if Saw and Hostile aren't your kind of movie, you'll definitely want to stay away from this!!

The Gallows (2015)

Creepy and suspenseful
26 October 2019
I've seen a lot of people on here saying the positive reviews must be left by fake accounts. I bet a lot of them also believe aliens killed JFK on orders from Bigfoot too. (Cthulhu actually ordered it) I thought this movie was really good. Yes there are a couple of plot holes like if the play was done 20 years ago how is Charlie's kid still in high school? But most of the other questions people raised were answered in the movie. Maybe they should've stayed till the end or payed attention? Unlike a lot of horror movies, and that's pretty much all I watch, this one has a complex plot. In 1993 a high school drama club put on the play The Gallows. During which Charlie was hung and died. 20 years later Pfifer picks that play to do again. 3 kids break into the school to destroy the set when they run into Pfifer. Things start going sideways and the creep factor kicks in. Special effects are minimal but done very effectively. Jumps scares are earned. It has a very claustrophobic feel to it. May I suggest watching this one with the lights off! But definitely watch this!!

You should definitely watch this!!

Most Christ child/possession movies have a particular formula. Christ is here and demons try to stop him. You can figure out pretty quick who's on what side from the start. This one though kinda keeps you guessing until the last 10 minutes. All I watch are horror movies and I was surprised with this. You think it's dropping a hint one way then it turns it on it's head and makes you question that hint you just saw. It's really interesting and I highly recommend it!!

Great start can't wait to see more!!

There's a lot of potential in this show. You've got your basic weekly case of "catch the killer" which can feel rushed (more later) and you've got the overall storyline of the son trying to deal with his past (his father being a serial killer). The "catch telegram killer case" at least for now, is being squeezed in between several bigger arch's. You've got his relationship with his father both now and in the past, him and his mother and him and his sister. The sister hasn't been on a lot she provides more detail work, fleshing out the family background. I'm sure once all the relevant information is out about the characters and their past it won't feel like the case is so rushed. But it's still intriguing and I look forward to the next episode. The writing of the characters are a bit off. What cop doesn't know what a family annihilator is? Especially if they have had 20 or so year career. I wish the cops were a little more cleaver but it's 2 episodes in and maybe I just know too much about serial killers for my own good. The acting is sublime!! Micheal Sheen, Lou Diamond Phillips and Tom Payne are all top tier actors and it shows. Watching Sheen go from charming to violently angry in a second and back shows what a true psychopath is like. Here's hoping they keep this one. I'm tired of liking a show then it getting pulled so quickly

I wanted to 🖤 it but.....
4 October 2019
It just missed the mark. I have a thing for found footage films so when I heard they made a second one I just about lost my mind. The first one was creepy and had a raw feeling to it that most found footage misses. The second one was a little more polished but it worked with what they were going for. Then I saw there was a third and final act. I couldn't wait to get started on it. They slice in parts from the other movies so if you haven't seen them you're not lost. But there's a lot of sudden light flashes that make it hard to understand. They start by pointing out "I thought I saw something". If you need to ACTUALLY say that it's not creepy. While there are some creepy parts, it doesn't seem to be as strong as the first or even the second. That hasn't stopped me from watching it 4 times now. I just wish it was a stronger ending to a series.

Horror comedy at it's best
29 September 2019
It's brutal and violent with plenty to keep the story going. For fans of horror and if you've watched the other Hatchet movies, you'll have noticed links to other modern classic films. Adam Green keeps the tradition going here. Be warned though!!!! These movies aren't for the faint of heart. They are considered part comedy but think comedy for the amount of blood used. The series does "flow" so well though that you can watch the entire series in one sitting and it's almost as if they're one movie.

Not your typical horror
22 September 2019
So many of the movies coming out right now are remakes of reboots of classics. Some are just poor imitations. This however left me feeling uneasy and creeped out. I loved it!! An entire town is wiped out. Every man, woman and child brutally murdered. One man however survives. Not only does he survive but he has documented the brutal attack on film. He's Mexican (I believe illegally) so of course the police and neighboring communities are more than willing to believe he committed this crime. Then his photos are released. It doesn't change this man's fate but it causes many to rethink his guilt. What is in those photos? Something you need to see to believe. This movie is definitely one that has a slow burn. And also is more psychological than action. It asks the questions can you trust what you see with your own eyes even when it goes against common sense? It also shows the prejudice that has been growing in this country against certain parts of the population. Go into it with an open mind and I think you will really enjoy this movie!!!

Definitely PG-13
11 August 2019
My kids LOVED these books growing up. When we heard Del Toro was directing it, we were even more excited. (My kids are 22 & 25 now) This movie had soooo much potential that it just seemed to waste. It's great if you have younger kids that want to see a scary movie but if you're old enough to have read the books as a kid......pass on this one. You might find it fun but all in all it's a let down for older fans.

Gives me the chills every time
23 July 2019
Very few movies move me anymore. Most are just action or comedy but this is truly an emotional film. It takes an unflinching look at those who told the story of how the Catholic Church ignored and enabled priest that molested children. At the end I always feel a mix of emotions. I've seen this 4 or 5 times now and it still invoked those emotions. I highly recommend this to anyone with an open mind.

Captivating

I've seem this movie at least 5 times now. I'm not sure what draws me to it. It's part found footage, part traditional film, part political statement, part supernatural thriller. There are reenactments of scenes that are claimed to be real (the scene where the patient in floating over his bed). While all together not that original it's also very intriguing. Definitely something I would recommend

Chip and Potato (2018– )

Cute animals and fun for kids
17 May 2019
I stumbled on this while watching another show I've seen at least 6 times. So I thought at least this show isn't THAT one, right? The main characters are a family of pugs, all their names are based on potatoes. Chip has a pet mouse she keeps in her pocket named Potato. Everyone thinks Potato is a stuffed doll. The rest of the "cast" is filled with jungle animals. The episodes are about Chip and her daily adventures. While it's one episode there are several stories inside of it. On Netflix there's an entire season available. My 5 year old granddaughter really liked it. One part Chip start kindergarten, she gets roller skates and does chores. My granddaughter said "she's just like me!"

An unflinching look at the flaws at some of the most powerful people in this country
6 May 2019
Don't want to go to prison? Don't do anything that will get you sent there. Seems simple enough, right? But just imagine for a moment that you are poor. Not just you skip going to the movies or cut back on take out but so poor you did through your neighbor's trash to eat. You dropped out of school to work at age 14 and you can barely read. Sadly there is still a large portion of Americans that live like this.

One such young man is Michael Pollitte. "Unlocking the Truth" shows how the police railroaded a 14 year old boy in a confession just hours after his mother died by lying to his father and said they just wanted to talk to him about what he saw as a witness. No lawyer, no parent and no recording. No other suspect was ever looked for, no clues every investigated. The way an investigation is supposed to go is find the clue and see what suspect them. This pathetic group of clowns found a suspect and only looked for clues, no matter how ridiculous, that fit only him. While this show doesn't tell the whole story, it's almost impossible to do that, they did an excellent job of covering a lot of ground. I only wish they did more episodes.

Better than expected
8 December 2016
I live about 45 minutes outside of Detroit. Here we do have haunted houses that if you make it through you get your money back. Hopefully they're not like this one! While there was the expected jump scares and played out horror tricks, I think all in all this was a really entertaining movie. 4 teens with deep secrets go into,a haunted house where there are no other people around. They are are told there are 5 levels but when they walk up it's just a a shed. So they figure "must be a hell of a basement." (Insert eye roll here.) As they go through it, each level has things that are deigned just for that person to see. Could it have been better? Yea. I wish I had seen more of Brain Kraus (Leo from Charmed). However I really liked this one because it's a nice slow burning movie that will leave you with the creeps even after it's over and make you think twice before driving out to the middle of nowhere for that really creepy haunted house next Halloween!!!
