The Holdovers (2023)

They don't make movies like this anymore...BRAVO!!!
7 December 2023
They simply don't make movies like this anymore. I went into this simply hoping Alexander Payne could recreate an ounce of the magic he captured with my all time favorite movie Sideways. I could not have been more pleased with this magical little movie.

I hate modern cinema and all of the CGI, bright and loud chaos that almost everything Hollywood is pumping out these days contains.

The subtleness of the sets, the throwback feel of seventies nostalgia left me speechless and so very pleased.

The acting was flawless by all of the leads. Paul Giamatti can do no wrong in my eyes. His voice is so calming and pleasing and nobody today can touch his acting. The other two leads were also impeccable!

I did not want this gem to end and was so sad when it did. If you love great acting and hate todays CGI-Fest Hollywood I implore you to run...don't walk to see this film!!

Please stop dumbing down great Conjuring characters
2 December 2023
First I'll start with what annoyed the most. They just had to add a token black character (todays Hollywood is pathetic) that made absolutely no sense to the story whatsoever. Her brief background was stupid. Stop adding black characters just for the sake of adding black characters.

I love the Conjuring films and while The Nun and Annabelle are absolutely fantastic roles in the grander scheme of the Conjuring movies it just continues to proven over and over again with these spin-offs that these characters simply cannot support an 1.5 to 2 hour film. They try to hard with the stories over and over again.

Please just leave these characters as just that in the Conjuring films.

Can't get past Keri Russell
27 April 2023
I usually like Keri Russell but with this show it feels like she has finally received her first chance to step outside of her usual style of role and trying to play a much harder character than she has played in the past. For me it's the constant every other word by her being the "F" word. Cursing doesn't bother me in the slightest it's the way she is over using the word in this show and the hard emphasis on it she tries to slam home each time she says the word. It's like okay Keri we get it...you finally have a role where you can say the "F" word and you are going to say it what seems like every other word of your dialogue. I went from really liking Keri Russell in the past to now after this show viewing her as annoying as nails on a chalkboard. Definitely won't be checking in for future seasons of this show!

Terrible casting
21 March 2023
The movie was insightful as there were definitely a few elements of Whitney Houston that I didn't know about. I had no idea she was bisexual. Stanley Tucci was great just as he always is but that's pretty much where the good things to say end for me.

They picked the worst actress ever to portray the beautiful charismatic Whitney Houston. Whitney was one of the most beautiful women to ever live and this woman they chose to play her....well to keep it nice....she is no Whitney.

Too much of this movie was about her bisexual relationship (I'm assuming to cater to this new world where they want to shove this down our throat every chance they get). The highlight years of her career felt rushed. Those years are what made her a star and this movie treated that time like an aside.

Why does Hollywood think everyone wants a lecture on LGBQT+ in every single movie or show heck even commercials these days?

You lost me at Luis Guzmán as Gomez
10 January 2023
I'm actually a fan of Luis Guzmán in general but this is some of the worst miscasting in history! Gomez is supposed to be suave and this just simply doesn't work with Luis playing him. They cast Morticia just as she should be. Unfortunately for me anything to do with The Addams Family will "ALWAYS" be compared to the absolutely perfect movies from the nineties. I have other issues with this show but this miscasting atrocity simply can't be forgiven. My other big issue is an issue I tend to have with almost anything new these days. Too much effort is put into catering to the "woke" culture. It has become absolutely exhausting!

Sick of double standards
7 March 2021
So let me just get this straight. It's okay for movie studios to use a female to voice a male but if they were to use a male to voice a female cancel culture would be out in full force

UTTER TRASH

This is one of the worst shows I've tried to watch in years. To call it garbage would be being nice.
