Dune (1984)
Still stunning
Watched this so many times over the years as am a huge fan on Frank Herbert and David Lynch. Watching it again recently made me realise just how brilliant David Lynch is. This film really gets to you and there is so much truth in it. The production design is just out of this world, back when they actually built sets instead of CGI. There's no sound weapons in the book by Frank Herbert, that was something that David Lynch came up with and it is absolutely brilliant. Okay the special effects are a bit dated but that adds to the out to the esoteric feel. One of my all time favourites.
The Last Boy (2019)
A beautiful story, brilliantly executed.
This film really touched me. The story is genuinely unique and it's brilliantly executed. It's set in a post apocalyptic world but not the ones you see time and time again in movies. There's not a lot I can say without giving too much away other than if you've ever lost anyone you love you can help but be moved by this film. I didn't know much about Rumi but his words are so perfect for this movie. The performances are so good especially the kids and the special effects and music are out of this world. Loved it.
Interview with a Hitman (2012)
Good solid thriller, makes you think
Gotta say anyone that rates this movie less than 6 needs their head testing. It's low budget but it's the best low budget flick I've seen in a long time. Luke Goss is awesome. The kid that plays him as a boy is really good. the rest of the cast are pretty good too.
The story really makes you think. If you can't do that you're not going to like it. and I never saw the ending coming and i can normally guess. clever the way it all came together.
It's a gritty and believable story
Agree with moby1974 on what the director has achieved with the budget. Like to see what he could do with more money. one to watch definitely.
