The Tomorrow War (2021)

Better Than Expected

Based on the trailer and fairly uninspired title I half expected another movie that spent all its budget on actors and cranked out another poorly produced pandemic stop-gap. What we got instead was a pretty well-made action flick with heart and self-aware humor. The story is rather formulaic but it was thoroughly entertaining.

Beautiful visuals hampered by a formulaic story. The movie seemed to be written by committee. Lacked any consistent vision. Contemporary vernacular was jarring and misplaced. And the ninja baby was just stupid.

Greenland (2020)

A parade of dumb tropes

Another manufactured emotional rollercoaster. Everything goes wrong and everyone makes every possible dumb decision to heighten the artificial conflict.
