Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (2020)
One of the Best Indian Series ever
Hats-Off to the creators for making such a flawless masterpiece. From the casting to the direction, acting, scripts, screenplay, music and title sequence - it is absolutely top-notch. The series is based on the 1992 Stock Market scam where Harshad Mehta, The Big Bull, was indicted and finally convicted of various charges. After watching this series, I have nothing but Respect for Mr. Harshad Mehta. From a simpleton to The Big Bull, a title he earned over the years as Stock broker, the story evolves around Harshad Mehta. He was a true genius. There is no denying that he manipulated the Stock Market or used improper channels to invest money. But his intentions were good and that was to make money for his investors. In my opinion he was a goal oriented businessman with Out-of-the-box thinking. Many blamed him for the Stock-market crash of 1992. However, after watching the series, I have come to this realisation that if he was not Incriminated in the first place (for SBI scam of missing Rs 500 Cr) , there wouldn't be any Stock-market crash. A win-win situation for everyone. He would have easily reimbursed SBI in due course without the need to borrow from NHB, which eventually led to indictment of Mr. Pherwani who paid dearly with his life.
Thanks to the Creators for bringing Mr. Mehta's side of the story into the Public through this amazing masterpiece.

A great concept...but lagged behind by poor script
Spoiler Alert!!!!...Read this review only if you have seen this series.
I am really glad that Indian TV have now gone past the routine family dramas and stepped into the realms of sci-fi. I love the concept of time-slips, worm holes and UFO being merged with the mythology. The creators of the show could have done a much better job, if they had hired a Quantum physics scientists to assist them in the plot. For instance, the mathematical equations written on the Chalk-board were totally nonsensical and had nothing to do with the concept of space-time or quantum physics or time travel. The series is very short which didn't allow the story to get into the depths of science behind this concept. The story talked about King Ashoka's wise-men who theorised the concept of time-travel. I found this totally absurd. Were they able to conceptualised Quantum physics, Einstein-Rosen bridge, space-time continuum etc. without even the basic knowledge of elementary laws of Physics which wouldn't be known for another 1900 years. It would have made much better sense, if the series have shown that the knowledge was passed down to those wise-men or Ashoka by the UFO riding extra-terrestrials (Just a thought!!).
One thing that bothers me the most was the way 1984 characters behaved in 2020. Does it take verbal affirmation on the current date to know that you are years in the future. The ICU room in the hospital was teeming with 21st century technology. Just a glance around the room would tell anyone that he or she is definitely not in 1984. The first reaction could have been, whether "I am dead" or is this heaven or hell or just a dream. The writers should have shown the moment the Pilot from 1984 regains consciousness in 2020.
The fact that Abhay Deol is the son of the Pilot, was totally predictable and didn't come as a surprise or shocker to me.
CGI in some of the scenes was beautifully done. I particularly liked the scene where they flew into the worm hole on a small plane.
I really wished that they series was longer and have taken sufficient time to go into the depths of Science and mythology and their convergence in the modern era.
Acting wise, Abhay Deol and Pankaj Kapoor have done a fantastic job. It was soothing to see Abhay Deol after a longtime. At times he did gave that 'Oye Lucky' vibes.
Rasbhari (2019)
This series deserve better rating
We binged-watched this series recently and we really liked it. Frankly, this may not be the top-ten type series, but nevertheless, it is not so bad as portrayed by several reviews and the rating. I think, it deserves a minimum 6 overall rating. The pace of the series is slow but that does not mean it is boring. The sexual tension among the high school mates, crush on teacher etc, is not something unusual and can not be demeaned by naming it as an act of Perversion.
Shikara (2020)
A beautiful movie with a Great Story and a brilliant acting. A piece of Art in true sense.
While randomly flipping movies and going through various trailers, I found this beautiful piece of artwork. This movie is highly under-rated on IMDB. It should have been at least 7.5, if not 8+. The lead cast acted brilliantly. Makers of this movie did the right thing of casting newcomers as their lead-cast rather than casting established actors. It gets a lot easier to attach with a character if he or she is seen for the first time. Most of the negative reviews here complained about this movie being factually incorrect. They may be right. But they are forgetting that it is just a feature film and not a documentary. In fact, there is a disclaimer at the beginning stating it to be a work of fiction.
Fukrey Returns (2017)
Fallen short of expectations. Not even half entertaining as first movie.
With a well executed and entertaining prequel at their hands, the makers of ''Fukrey Returns'' could have done a much better job. Unfortunately, they didn't. Overall, the movie was just average. It is entertaining, just to the extent of few laughs that one gets at the stupidity of character ''Choocha''. The movie commenced at a slow pace with several parallel intro-stories of main characters. The title sequence is a recap of the first movie and is quite helpful for those who didn't watch the first movie. For the first quarter, the story appears totally directionless but as it gains momentum, it kind of starts taking ''shape''. One of the things that messed up the movie is too much attention on ''Choocha'' and ''Hunny'' while other characters were sidelined. They appeared to be just tagging along with occasional nods, face gestures and one-liners. Movie could have been much better if all the main characters have got equal importance and share in the story....the way they did in original ''Fukrey''. There are several plot-holes and goof- ups. However, these could be easily ignored as it didn't affect the main story. This movie lacked the elements of original ''Fukrey''....the shockers, surprises and seat-binding thrills. There is a surprise element in this sequel too, but it is nothing in comparison to the first movie. The movie is once watchable but it is not the movie for which one need to travel and spend money in a Multiplex. Wait for it to be showcased on DTH, Amazon Prime, Netflix etc.
