Syriana (2005)
Oil hysteria
This is a politically inspired piece of propaganda that is only half in English. One half hour into the film was enough of torture. The latest from Mel Gibson has also sucked. Movies targeted for an American audience must be entirely in English. Otherwise you have basically a silent movie. I don't do non English or subtitle movies. The liberals are too stupid to understand that the world is dependent on oil, like it or not. We can't simply shutdown the world because we need an alternative energy source. The world of oil is corrupt from the supply side not the user side. If liberals were smart they would understand that we NEED OIL. We will need oil until there is a different solution. These problems are the fault of the liberals that won't let us drill for our own oil. Thinking that a magic solution will happen because they wish for it is ignorant. America will come to a grinding halt without oil. So get over the oil issue! Funny this site also requires that posts be in English.
Song of the South (1946)
Is Song of the South Racist?
Someone mentioned that it seemed odd that a slave would stay on at a plantation after being freed. And taking orders from the white folks. Well, what I remember from history in school is that it did happen. Quite a few slaves were close to their "masters". Take for example a family that was basically the house servants. They might have been treated better than the field slaves. I might add that they might have been treated better than a lot of house servants of today, that are paid employees. Many of them knew no other life and found it hard to move on. Some stayed on as field or house workers for hire. I think slavery is a terrible thing for anyone. But pretending that it never happened doesn't make it go away. The message of this movie had absolutely nothing to do with slavery. Some people are just too politically correct and way too crittical.
Almost an Angel (1990)
Paul Hogan
I have completely enjoyed every single movie that Paul Hogan was in. He is a comic genius. I find it unbelievable that this particular movie is not available on DVD. His movies are not slap stick or like anything else I've seen. The things his characters do is just incredibly funny. Even years later when I remember something he did I can't help but laugh. This particular movie was funny as well as heartwarming. When he picked the fight with the guy in the wheel chair I thought I would bust a gut. But, he was just trying to prove a point. When he was shot with the gun loaded with blanks you start to worry, will he do something stupid and end up dead, or is he really an angel. My all time Hogan favorite. It has everything, romance, comedy, and will bring tears to tour eyes. I can't wait to find this movie on DVD.
