Mea Culpa (2024)

5/10 which basically means I'm stuck in the middle with my views on this movie.

Beginning of the movie had promise, I do get riled up when I watch a black movie and the only white person is the villian, which the mother seemed to be..

Character development was really bad, I barely knew any of their names nor who was who and where they fit in, in the family.

There was some underlying affair stuff going on with Mea's husband which was never really explained, there were also a lot of lose ends and the ending was really bad.

I didn't think the acting was too bad, but I also couldn't relate to Mea in any way and the decisions she was making.

Coyote Ugly (2000)

Well I actually thought I'd like this movie. But i didn't. It's probably one of the most cringiest movies I've seen. The acting was pretty terrible. Specially from the boyfriend. The storyline was weak. Lead actress quite annoying. Owner of the bar thinks she's cool. So do the other two bar dancers. Completely unbelievable concept that bar owners would spray booze on people or offer free booze. Cliche as to how the movie would pan out.

Basically, it was terrible. It's like some male director had a fantasy he wanted to fulfill but having women dancing on a bar. And the singing scenes were cringe. I felt embarrassed for myself watching it.

Tin & Tina (2023)

Creepy!

Really enjoyed this movie. As a person who loves thrillers and horrors, this movie was right up my street!

I loved that it's set in the 1980s. It has an eerie feeling to it, it's creepy, a little dark and twisted, and it's something quite different. It's not like a lot of other movies that rely on jump scares. Well executed. And some of the scenes push the creepiness that little bit further than you usually see in movies.

Some disturbing scenes you more than likely won't forget.

Don't watch just before bed as some of the scenes get stuck in your head.

Really well done horror!

This move is engaging! From the moment I started watching, I just couldn't stop. Its like a well-written book you can't put down. I thought the acting was very good, and the movie keeps you interested and its intriguing! Its a great who-dunnit and keeps you guessing right up until the end. The old house is a beautiful setting, the eerie atmosphere keeps you on edge..

I found this movie to be a really good mystery and i love a good thriller. Can't understand the low reviews, all i can say, is give it a go and keep an open mind. I actually found the story line to be kinda believable too, its not that far fetched!

Better Watch Out (II) (2016)

I just have to write a review on this terrible movie. OK to start with, it's super cringe.

The first few minutes show us these young teenagers (14 yrs) talking about girls fear and how when frightened it makes them 'excited'.. Eww.. And then a minute later, wife is asking hubby is he sure he's never been with a man (but in a much more disgusting way)... Then, this kid who looks and acts likes hes 10-11yrs old (squeaky voice included) touches his babysitters boob, gets aroused and then says he wants to watch her have you-know-what with her bf so he can watch (I'm toning this wayy down for imdb).

This movie is perverted and I felt totally icky after some scenes, like, how old is this actor, he's wayy underage at 14yrs probably younger in real life.. Totally inappropriate, filthy movie and tbh I felt like I was a pervert watching it. Don't recommend. Absolute trash.

Ps: had the child been 18+ this movie would've been really good, but, the actor was just wayy too young for the sexual themes.

Glass Onion (2022)

Unlikeable characters...

Atrocious accent from Daniel Craig, stupid storyline, very very unlikeable and annoying characters.

No mystery. Where's the mystery?? Theres also some stupid comedic lines thrown in throughout which aren't funny at all.

Just a very strange and forgettable movie.

Edward Norton is over-acting, and Andi/Helen has hairy armpits!

Kate Hudson is a terrible actress, and Daniel Craig has no sex appeal. The actress who plays Whisky is sulky.

So, I'm left wondering what a waste of two hours, and I don't recommend you waste your time on this rubbish of a movie. Probably one of the worst movies ever made. Avoid!!

All Good Things (2010)

Blown away...

Wow, I finally got around to watching this, many years after release, and wow, woke up this morning still thinking of it after seeing it last night.

It's left a bit of an impression on me. This movie is surprisingly very good. I mean, I didn't know what to expect, but what impressed me was the acting. Strong leads and performances from Dunst and Gosling. Pacing was on-point, and storyline was soo interesting. I couldn't stop watching, this movie really intrigued me.

I can't understand the low rating for this movie, a 6.3, no way, I fully recommend this movie if you like a good mystery with a few twists and turns thrown in!

Insidious (I) (2010)

Started out good..

Started out really good and scary. But got really boring and slow. About 3/4 of the way in, i had to watch it on 2x as it was so dull. I loved the beginning, I was really looking forward to the movie,... Then its all downhill once they bring in the medium. An unbelievable back-story just adds to this dribble, and did I say, the pacing is really slow. The ending is not scary, its stupid and overall, its just a dumb movie. I can't believe they continue making these. Don't be drawn into the hype. I'm not going to watch another one of these movies.

I might add, in the beginning there really wasn't much character development either so you don't really care about the characters.

Snowflake Mountain (2022)

I really wanted to like this show, but, the worst part was how fake it was. They supposedly had their suitcases blown up - yet - the blonde girl was wearing a lot of make-up and sunglasses etc. Also, no make up at night, so she obviously had make up remover!

50k does not sound like it would be enough money for these prissy and pampered kids, so why would they agree to continue with the show?

Devon is damn annoying and so entitled, I just wanted to slap her. Her mum must be so proud of her, not. And why does she get so much air-time, just pulling the fingers every five minutes. I find it very hard to believe any of them weren't without their creature comforts, the way they dressed and acted, they for sure, had some of their stuff with them, even though we were led to believe they were living out in the wilderness with NOTHING! Fake and annoying show, the worst on Netflix!

Message in a Bottle (1999)

Nicholas Sparks... Same formula every time!

Although this was the first movie made from one of his books, it has the same formula as the other movies made from his books... Clichéd, predictable, sappy, sullen or sulky lead actress, always a death... Quite often a sappy letter or two... The pacing is very slow, nothing much happens at all. The lead actress comes across as desperate, and acted disappointed when the first guy she thought was Garett, wasn't, as if she was looking for a guy to shack up with and the guy wasn't good enough looking, when she was supposed to just be doing some research... Her kid is not cute or likeable... Kevin Costner is depressing, over the top sad and sappy in his letters, and you just want to shake him and be like 'move on already!' The unveiling of Catherine, the boat, well, predictable that Teresa would sulk off... C'mon just support the guy. Stop sulking that he might still carry a flame for his ex!

And yeah... The dad (Paul Newman) being a creepy old man saying 'if I were younger'.. While lusting at Teresa.. Eek!

There's a lot wrong with this movie. I wanted to like it but it's so incredibly boring, sappy and cliché and predictable.

The Prodigy (2019)

Way better than The Omen

Scary!! And much, much better than The Omen and Orphan, by a very long mile. This movie has all the scary feels. The actors have done a brilliant job. The pacing is very good, I didn't get bored or disinterested. It has an interesting storyline, some very scary and unpredictable jump scares, and some very scary scenes that are quite different to any other horror movie. It would be the best horror movie I've seen in a very long time. If you had a kid like this, believe me, you'd never get any sleep at night. Damien (The Omen!) has nothing on this kid! Don't listen to the bad reviews, watch it, and judge for yourself....

Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)

Stop mentioning the title!

OK... So the title is not that great.. And jason doesn't really ' take manhattan' but who cares?! I totally switch off when I'm reading a review on this movie and someone mentions the title. OK, we get it, its not completely accurate but.... Moving on... What did we think of the movie?! I watched it with my dad for the first time when I was about 8 or 9yrs old and loved it. Was definitely one of my favourites after watching many of the other Friday the 13th movies. Pacing is good, the kills are very good and memorable. Scary, and I think, a really well done movie overall. There are a couple of things you do question, like, the young Jasons face not looking like what you think it should look like... But, the great kills make up for that! Don't let the poor reviews and overly harsh criticism put you off from watching this.

....Ekkk! Wow! - the boy is a right little rat-bag!! I have two sons of my own and none of them acted this naughty and over-the-top aggressive! I barely managed to get through the first twenty minutes... i was hoping the boy would get crushed along with his igloo. He bites his mom, screams and yells. He's moody, disobedient, naughty... I could go on... Does this kid have ADHD?! Hes selfish - he ruins his moms date!....

And another thing - his mom has the most croaky annoying voice and can't control her own child. Shes a terrible mother....

This movie has no parts that I liked - AT ALL...! Don't waste your time.

Sleepaway Camp (1983)

Thought this was a bad movie... UNTIL...

... The ending! Omg I was soo shocked and surprised! ! Why have i never even really heard of this movie?! I love slashers and cannot believe it took me this long to see this movie. It is actually surprisingly pretty good, terrible acting aside. Do give it a chance for something quite different. And I can't get the surprise ending out of my head! It is worth a watch, even if just once. You won't forget it, it'll get stuck in your head. I couldn't even sleep after it, the ending was embedded in my mind and I'm still thinking about it a week later. I'm not kidding. Is my review 600 characters yet...?!

The Lovely Bones (2009)

Deeply sad, but very moving movie... Should be watched by everyone at least once. I love what Peter Jackson has done, this is better than the book (which was soo slow and boring) A movie that stays with you long after you've watched it.

I'm a mum so I fully 'get' this movie.

Everything about this film is realistic. The decisions the mum made, stuff that could potentially happen in real life. It's really interesting and well paced. Suspenseful and quite stressful to watch at times. Naomi did a brilliant job of the worrisome mum. I thought this movie was very good.

A League of Their Own (1992)

I don't understand the high rating of this movie. Its listed as a comedy, its definitely not. There are no funny moments. The pacing is extremely slow. I found it boring. Most of the girls aren't likeable, specially Rosie O'Donnells fake accent. Yeah, I just found it very very boring and uninteresting.

My Bloody Valentine (2009)

Much better than the original!

To be honest, i wasn't thinking this was going to be very good then... wow! I was really impressed! This remake stayed true to the original but was done EVEN BETTER! The pacing is good, the acting good, the bloody scenes are visually pretty cool and I was even scared for the majority of the movie. One of the best horrors I have seen, ever.

Terribly boring and 'sweet and sappy' felt like I was watching an episode of Seventh Heaven, or like another reviewer said, a Christian movie. Possibly similar to a lifetime movie, with a boring and cheesy storyline and plot. The person who wrote this lives in a dream world where there is no swearing, nothing bad ever happens and the town 'bully' for all of about five minutes, let's your car tyre down. Heaven forbid! Such a cringe movie, lol.

Killing Me Softly (2002)

This has to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I'm not joking! The acting is by far the worst, ever! Heather Graham is such a terrible actress. The storyline was laughable and the ending even more so. The sex scenes and kissing was cringey to watch as there was no chemistry between the lead actors. Have you ever seen robots having an intimate time? This is what I would think it would be like. I wasted my night.

Chocolat (2000)

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I could relate to the main actress, living in a small town, people talking bad about you behind your back, struggling to fit in... Absolutely gorgeous wee town, chocolate for miles... Delicious and dreamy. A favourite movie of mine.

I couldn't stop watching. Some are saying it's slow, that's not what I thought, the movie was building tension. Lead actress is amazing, superb performance. One of the best scary films I've watched in a long while. I really liked it!

And cliché... Nicholas Sparks uses the same formula with each novel/movie. Someone always gets sick and dies. And it's predictable. I think Miley and the boy who played Jonah did a great job, but, the storyline was a tad dull and boring. Pacing a bit slow. I felt like something was missing, like this movie needed something more. It was OK, but, forgettable.

Nights in Rodanthe (2008)

Overacted... And no chemistry between the lead actors

This movie is slow paced, boring and dull. Gere is too old, Lane is looking quite old for her age in this movie. There is absolutely no chemistry between either of them. There is no sex appeal either.

I got tired of hearing about Lanes bratty children, we don't care about those kids!

The kiss... Omg, worst on screen kiss ever! No chemistry! Looks forced. Was cringe to watch.

Storyline boring. Other characters in the movie you just don't care about. Just soo terribly slow, and nothing much happens.

I can imagine two people falling in love like this, but, then they storm around and argue aswell as if they've known each other for years.

This movie would've worked better with slightly younger leads. And Diane Lane's short hair and clothing that fully covers her up, does nothing for visual appeal.
