Mortal Kombat (2021)
Nostalgia on Steroids
First off, THIS IS A VIDEO GAME MOVIE!! All the keyboard movie critics are driving me crazy. Did you truly go into this movie thinking it's trying to win Academy Awards?! No! It's a fighting game movie. It's phenomenal if you take away these ludacris expectations. Was some dialogue weak, yea sure. But the fight scenes and watching our nostalgic video game characters come to life in this way was amazing. Kano, Funny as hell. Jax was a phenom too, but I love the actor from True Blood. Sub-Zero was prob my favorite. I was sad to see so little Scorpion, but hopefully in the next few. I really enjoyed that story line though a lot. Go into this movie with the expectations of seeing truly brilliant scenes and extraordinary fight choreography and I promise you'll be left with the jaw dropped. Can't wait to see who plays Cage!!
The Duchess (2020)
My favorite new show
What a holy grail of humor. Katherine Ryan's character is what I wish I could be! She's my thoughts put into a character. Katy Byrne, "Olive," is such a spoiled brat, but in a quirky way that is so lovable. She's the type of child I imagine I'd have. All of the characters are amazing you really get to know them well and you get to love their "downfalls." I highly recommend this comedy to all the ladies out there. I place this on the same level as Schitts Creek 🖤
Love the Coopers (2015)
Big hearted mess
Wow, for anyone giving negative reviews... Where's your heart? I'm an emotional lady for sure, so this movie played well on my emotions. I love every single side story, but the main take away here is stop being so damn serious. Stop allowing little things in to ruin your relationships and your life. Life is truly about the little things, the small moments. This will forever be on my watch list every year, every time I'm sick, and every time I need a reality check. We all get too consumed by things that truly don't matter in the grander scheme of life. On your death bed, will you think about money not made? Or will you think of love not fostered? It's the latter. Grab your tissues, grab loved ones, watch this movie and be thankful.
Good Deeds (2012)
We all have basic needs
I just finished watching Good Deeds and I really liked it. Was there more they could've done? Sure. Was it perfect? No. But this movie teaches us that we all have basic needs.
The relationship between Wesley and Lindsay is something I think most of people could learn from. He's a high earning CEO who grew up with privilege. She's a down on her luck mother with everything going wrong in her life than can. Her husband died in Iraq and her life became strenuous and she couldn't get her head out from under water. Lindsay is a person I think we have all been at some point at least to some extent. Wesley meets Lindsay and we watch his respect for her grow and his understanding of the world change. He becomes a "better" version of himself; the person he's always wanted to be.
I think we all do what is expected of us, what others want us to be. We forget that we get one life and we throw many of our years aways. I've done it and I'm thankful I had my epiphany moment years ago. Now I'm so happy.
I say, good job Tyler Perry. I thoroughly enjoyed this "find yourself, be yourself" film.
The Baby-Sitters Club (2020)
They stuck the landing
First off, I'm literally a 34 year old woman writing this, BUT I literally squeaked in excitement seeing "The Babysitters Club" on Netflix. I hit play so fast not even realizing this is a 2020 remake. I read all the books, saw the movie a million times, and started my own BSC (who didn't am I right?) I couldn't stop watching. They did such a great job and truly stuck to the original. I'm so happy and I wish I had a child to share this with. This is pure nostalgia for me and I'm hoping young kids love this like we all did!
I See You (2019)
Give it a chance
This is my first review ever and I'm a die hard user of IMDB. This film is so interesting in it's execution. One half you'll think one way, then you'll think, "where the F is this going?" Then the last half you be completely side-swiped. It's such a mind bender in the best, yet craziest way. The execution of all the story lines is pretty great. They were able to tell a few different story lines and point of views without leaving a bunch of questions at the end. I don't believe this is horror genre, though. It's more mystery/thriller. If you're a true crime freak like me, you'll really enjoy this. I would honestly recommend it to anyone who likes true crime.
