The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
How can anyone rate this less than 10 stars?
I was so blown away by this movie. I took my four year old to see it and it was one of the most memorable theatre experiences in my life. He absolutely loves all the games. I even brought my mom along and she loved it. The entire movie was so much fun to watch. They put so many games in one movie. I loved everything about this movie. The voice acting is perfect. The music is perfect. The ending is perfect. I don't get how anyone can rate this less than ten stars. The only thing that even slightly annoyed me was Seth Rogan doing the voice for DK. But that's only because I can't stand his voice. Only thing I would have changed. Everything else was perfect. I bought it on prime the second it was available and my kids have made me watch it at least fifty times and I enjoyed it each time. Worth every penny.
Silent Hill (2006)
You're all wrong.
If you played through the games you know this movie is next level. It connects the first two so beautifully. The woman who plays the cult leader looks so much like the one from the game it absolutely blows my mind. The ending alone gives this film a 7/10 alright? The ending alone. To give this film anything less than a 7 is messed up. The art alone is worthy of an 8/10 and the monsters deserve a 9/10 I rate this film a 10/10 because I know this movie was made me me, the kid who stayed up all night playing the games and trying to understand it, the haunting reality of hell dimensions. To be trapped in limbo and alone is more terrifying than anything in the film. They will never be anywhere ever again. Make more movies for kids like me. Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly awaits.
Twisted Metal (2023)
Huge fan of the games, absolutely loved this series!
I can't believe how good this was. Can't wait for the next season. I did not expect to love this but I did and I think all fans will love it. Sweet Tooth is AMAZING. They knew if they didn't get that character right it was over and they did not mess it up. The guy who plays Sweet Tooth is a professional wrestler and he is HUGE! The acting is great. The action scenes are so cool. The story is well thought out and the next season is going to be great. My favorite part has to be all the parts with Sweet Tooth. His performance was so awesome and I can't wait to see him in the next season. Good job, peacock.
Trolls (2016)
My kids are obsessed
My little ones love all the trolls movies so much. We showed up late to the party and just started watching them a few weeks ago. The third trolls movie is in theaters right now. They love all of them but the first one is so good. I wish they would have put the troll wig in the second and third one. Like they all come together to make a troll wig for the Berkin troll Bridget. We love them all. The music has been the best part: it's so much fun to jam to the album in the car with them. I wish there was a poppy doll with a cowbell: I would have already bought it by now. Good job, everyone involved in this film. It's made my kids so happy.
Hermana muerte (2023)
I cannot believe how good this movie is
I watched this because Netflix wouldn't stop bugging me to watch it. I liked Veronica but couldn't recall much from it but I went along and watched it anyway and I'm so glad I did. Let me begin by saying I am a woman. A mother with two little ones. So I get that this movie is going to be more gut punching for me. But let me preface in saying I am a horror movie nerd and a writer. In my opinion this film was so well written and edited it deserves awards. Everything that happens, even in the dream sequences, ties beautifully into the ending. I can't even begin to explain how long it's been since I've watched a movie and appreciated good writing and editing. This film made me bawl. Warning it will make most women cry. Watch this movie. Give it a chance. You won't be sorry.
Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor (2023)
Way better than the last two.
Wow! This was a wonderful prequel. The clown mannequins are back to make us uneasy. 😬 freaky! Was not expecting it to be as good as it was. Loved the ending too. This is a rare thing for me: I am not afraid of clowns but those clown mannequins are horrifying. They captured that terror they created with the first. This one had a good story and memorable characters. Several parts had scared and I don't scare easy. Well done, guys. Glad that I took the time to watch it. I'll recommend it to my horror fan friends and family for sure. Only thing I didn't get was what the f was going on in the woods? Who was screaming and who was under the bedsheets in front of the car? I have questions.
Ban Chao Buchayan (2023)
Genuinely excellent horror film.
This movie is worth watching. I am a big horror fan and I loved this movie. Didn't expect anything and walked away so glad I found it online. Such superb editing and story board! Bravo! Hands down one of the most well thought out and perfectly edited horror films I have ever seen and I've seen everything. I will be looking at any and all movies that this director makes. Love horror and this is literally one of the best ones I've seen in years. If you're having second thoughts I promise just jump in head first. You won't be sorry. Loved the ending too: bittersweet. Can't believe how good this was.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
Puss and Boots is worth the purchase! Buy this movie!
I've watched it like five times. I'm 35 and I have two little kids and I just showed it to them. They wanted to watch it again immediately after it finished: they've never done this, not even to the Super Mario movie. This film is more than just a good kids movie, the animation is art. You could take stills of this movie and frame it. It's gorgeous. The best part is when the crazy cat lady gives puss and boots a bath. We laughed so hard and probably went back and watched that part a dozen times. The people who made this movie are artists. I will be purchasing this film on Amazon plus so we can all watch it on any tv in the house. It's not just worth a watch, it's worth a buy.
The Power (2021)
Solid Ghost Story
Although predictable at times, the story is quite good. The acting is very good and the message is powerful. Scary? Not so much as far as veteran horror watchers but would be a good scare for someone new to horror or into suspense/thriller films. I enjoyed this movie. It deserves a higher rating.
Relic (2020)
Perfect Film About Dementia that Runs In Families
This film absolutely chilled me to the bone. Not because it is scary or full of moments where you jump out of your seat but because it is such a perfect representation of what dementia is like. If you've ever had a loved one suffer and have watched them slowly turn into someone they aren't, you will truly understand this film. It is also terrifying when you think about how it runs in families and how the movie ends. The absolute horror of realizing that what is happening to your loved one very well could happen to you because it is genetic. The scene where the grand daughter is trapped in the walls of the house disoriented and confused trying to find her way out is a perfect way to describe the terror that goes along with dementia. This film was superb. If you enjoyed the film Babadook, you'll probably love this because you understand what the film is trying to tell you. The Babadook is about grief and how it can turn someone into a monster, this film is about dementia and how it can turn someone into a shriveled up monster like version of what they once were. Plenty of creepy moments, unsettling at times but unless you've watched someone suffer you probably won't understand this film. Pay no mind to the negative reviews for they did not understand this film, this film wasn't made for them it was made for those who have lived through the familial trauma that is Alzheimer's and dementia. Horror can be a perfect genre to explain the ultimate horror of a real life situation like dementia. It is done so in a way that really makes you think. That last scene really put it over the top for me. As someone who once worked in memory care units and watched people turn into husks, I can tell you the ending is incredible. The mother and daughter have totally different reactions for a reason. The daughter realizes in that last moment of the film that she is going to have to go through this all over again with her mother, as horrifying as it was, she will have to be there for her and hope someone will be there for her if it in fact is passed on and she inherits it herself. The black stuff everywhere is the disease. It represents the emptiness that follows and the confusion. It is dark and ugly, just like the disease. I cannot give this film enough props. The creature at the end that comes out of the grandmother looks amazing. Super scary but at the same time sad. This film would be great to show to a nursing class that is studying genetic, familial Alzheimer's and dementia. They even explain that the property on the house that used to be there was the grandmothers father, and that he wasn't properly cared for and died alone and confused. Even though the grandmother tore that cabin down she kept a piece of it and put it in the house. That window represents the genetic component. It was stained, it was tainted, much like their genes. I absolutely loved this film. I cannot even begin to explain how perfect it actually is.
The Morning Show (2019)
Words cannot describe how much I love this show.
If you are considering watching this show, do yourself a favor and watch it. It is superb. The acting is so good. TMS reminded me why I love Reese and Jennifer so much. Perfect casting. Aniston and Witherspoon blew me away. Apple is going to provide quality original content. I am so proud of the leading ladies. Unbelievable performance.
