The Buried Secret of M. Night Shyamalan (2004)
Good Doc but Obviously Fake
As many other people have posted about this SciFi special...it was completely scripted and put on the air at a key time to advertise "The Village." I would like to list all the clues given, but there are way too many. When watching this, I felt like I was watching a movie in a "Law and Order" or "CSI" type of formula: BIG, obvious, and easily researchable clues are given every few minutes which lead the main characters right to the next step in the puzzle. For example, when Johnny Depp was talking about the quotes Night's actors are to say in interviews, I said to myself, "oh the next scene's gonna be one of The Village actors saying these things." And it happened. Like every other point in the documentary. It fits way too easily for EVERYTHING to fit and be explained- because it was an entirely scripted piece. I think that's what kind of made the documentary a let down for me. I would have enjoyed it much more if I came into watching this knowing it was fiction.
