Carnival Row (2019–2023)

Really enjoyed it!

Good acting, great costumes, amazing locations (location scouts give yourself a pat on the back) and enjoyable story/character building. I love steampunk settings and this program nails it. More seasons please as this could extend the world building greatly!

Utter drivel!

Such a disjointed mess, how did this get made? A struggle to watch, it looks slick, the special effects are great but it can't save the ridiculous script and shoddy editing etc. Avoid this nonsense!

Fantastic look into another world!

A well written, presented and honest look at a soon to be lost culture. Livia Simoka is embraced by the Mbendjele, she becomes part of Mama's family and genuinely cares about the tribe. A great piece of film making! I would love for her to re-visit in a few years time for an update on the tribes journey.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha - so bad!

My title says it all! They should have given the money used to make this to the poor instead of wasting it on this. I am at a loss as to who would sign this off as a good project to pursue! Shame on all involved! Would give it a zero if possible.

Kill Command (2016)

Great film, set not too far into the future.

The budget may be low but you can't tell! As a Brit I may be biased but as a film lover in general this impressed me. OK the script isn't going to win may awards but then again it doesn't need to be deep and meaningful. It tells the story well enough and when you think about it this is pretty close to where we are with technology at present.

The cast is well up to the task especially Vanessa Kirby. I enjoyed her slightly detached from humanity portrayal.

The effects are great, outdoing some high budget movies easily. The weaponry and tech is also very good.

Give it a go if you like Sci fi, i think it will tick the boxes for you.

Fantastic gangster epic from good old Blighty! Well done BBC!
15 May 2015
This show is the best thing that the BBC has produced for many years! A true return to form, Steven Knight has done an amazing job and the show just gets better and better with each episode.

The cast are great, Cillian brings a dimension to his character that shows his haunted war torn past is driving some of his decisions and when needed his softer side comes forward. The rest of the cast are great too - Paul Anderson's unhinged Arthur and Sam Neil's calculating Inspector Campbell deserve high praise.

The addition of Tom Hardy's Alfie Solomons is especially enjoyable in series 2 bringing the London Jewish underworld into the mix.

The settings, clothing, props and use of CG help to paint a real world setting that has really impressed me. I come from a Northern working town in England that was built on the iron industry and suppling all sorts for the war effort and i can imagine where i live being quite similar around the time this is set. The location scouts also deserve praise for there vision of what would make this all seem real.

Forget all the American stuff thats starting to become the same stories repeated over and over and watch some real story telling!

Sci-fi drama. Slow to start, give it a chance!
14 May 2015
A vision of a not too distant future, slow to start but some interesting things start happening in the later episodes. Give it a chance please as we are lacking good Sci-Fi at the moment.

Characters are good but they need more to work with. Interesting concept with Ethan and Molly's child but don't want to give anything away about that.

I like the understated technology uses in the everyday environment, it is used well in order to improve everyday tasks (which is why we make things in the first place).

This is not Sci-Fi on an epic scale, it's about the human condition - it's not perfect but it's got potential.
