The Handmaid's Tale (2017)
It's getting absurd.
First of all, I like the show in general and its setting. There are many great scenes, including great soundtracks, visuals, cinematography. However, the longer the show goes on, the more it diverges from the original premise, the original work created by Atwood. The plot gets more and more holes and it's sad to see the ridicidulous amount of plot armour. The show in entirely centered around Elisabeth Moss - and sadly they sacrifice the show for this to happen. The series is being artificially dragged out. Neither it does come to a well thought out end nor they introduce new storylines. Instead the plot is very repetetive to keep the show ongoing and the center around Elisabeth Moss. That's sad, because the world the show is placed in (i.e., Gilead) has huge potential for many great stories.
Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo (2021)
As someone who doesn't know the original...
As someone who doesn't know the original (neither book nor movie) this series feels similar to other dark teenage dramas like Euphoria or 13 Reasons Why. Many reviewers criticize the modern pop songs and similar stylistic elements. However, since this topic is timeless I don't feel like it needs to have a 70s mood. Actually, I expected even more of a contemporary adaption. Also often mentioned, and it is surely true, adult cast always feels a bit weird when they are supposed to play young teenagers. However, I don't see a way around that given the topic and the scenes. Personally, I can recommend the show.
Seungriho (2021)
Great visuals can't conceal the weak plot
Protagonists are very cliche (their background stories & personality traits), so is the antagonist (as often seen: big tech company gone bad, its evilness is poorly motivated...). Classic good versus bad story, lacking of grey levels. Very typical, expected plot & outcome, with lots of plot armor on the way. Fans of action & light entertainment will like it, sci-fi fans (like me) might still take some pleasure because of visuals & the general setting.
