Michael Jackson: Black or White (1991)
The pioneer of the 'music video' at his best
When I first saw 'Black or White' I was amazed at all of the effects, costumes, sets, dancing and the overall feel of the video sends a good message. My favourite part was when Michael started doing the ethnic dances which shows how versatile he can be as a dancer and performer. However the panther section was under a lot of controversy over whether it was appropriate or not. I've seen that part and all I can say as, this is Michael Jackson dancing, moving and expressing himself just like he always has. I don't know how something like that can cause so much controversy when all the music videos nowadays are 'sexed up' and are 10 times less appropriate than anything before 1995.
Many people judge Michael as 'Thriller' being his peak but I disagree because albums like 'Bad', 'HIStory' and 'Dangerous' (which Black or White is off) provide a wider source of brilliant songs to his catalogue. But here you have the greatest entertainer/performer of the modern era with an amazing video that captivates audiences of all ages that can't take your eyes away from the spectacule.
Center Stage (2000)
One of the best dance-related films you will ever see!!!
Center Stage absolutely rocks!!!!! It's remains one of my favorite movies and the insight it gives is great. Many people I know love this movie and the dancing is pure electrifying. I wouldn't just watch it for the dancing but for the relationship and storyline aspect as well. When he came out on the motorbike and broke into Michael Jackson's 'The Way You Make me Feel' it took my breath away. The soundtrack is very good and has a lot of feel good songs on it. Peter Gallagher is a real talent and his energy is quite spectacular. Overall you can't possibly say it's a bad movie because the setting is great and the camera work really brings the dancing to life. Awesome film!!!
Michael Jackson: Thriller (1983)
The Greatest Music Video of All Time!!!
Michael Jackson is amazing. This short film displays the absolute highest standard in music video and no-one will ever be able to out-beat this 'King Of Pop' masterpiece! It shows Michael turning into a zombie and dancing in the street with some spectacular choreography. The story is great, the scenes are marvelous, the music is fantastic and overall the clip is fun, eye-popping, spooky and is a real spectacle. Today everybody is still doing the same thing in music video with dancing and film-based story-lines which he innovated. This ground-breaking video is the toast of MTV and will forever be remembered for what is the greatest music video of all time!!
