Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild! (2008)
So many negative reviews, give it a chance...are you expecting 'Milk' from a title like this?
This film is NOT supposed to be taken seriously, that's a given. It's a harmless bash at every gay stereotype you can imagine, it's camp, driven and funny.
Many moments in the film have that extreme cringe factor, but you have chosen to invest time in a movie titled 'Another Gay Movie: Gays Gone Wild' you can hardly expect subtleties like the camera veering off to record a fireplace while sexual activity is implied...
RuPaul and Lady Bunny bring classic drag comedy, while the main cast are easy on the eye and don't appall with their acting skills. The Cameos from Muffster and Nico's Mum are also welcomed with a wide grin.
I would say if you are bored and want to spend an hour and a half amused yet bemused, laughing but not really knowing what at and trying to guess the countless films this one parodies, go for it! Like I said it's harmless!
I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006)
Loved it!!!
Recently I have been noticing all the dodgy remakes and sequels floating around. So when I stumbled across this, I thought to myself, 'Oh dear.' The first two weren't very good at all, I mean number one was clearly rushed because of the 'scream' legacy storming the air. And the second was to justify the first. So why I hear you ask was this third instalment made, to make it a trilogy, is the answer. The third film is all based around a July 4th prank that goes horribly wrong. four friends agree never to speak the truth about the actual happenings of that day, but to cover up. And as predicted, as a year passes by they start to die, one by one. I liked the way the killer tormented each and everyone of the friends, and not just a couple bar the main scream queen. It had suspense, the directing was excellent and the acting wasn't second rate as is often associated with this type of horror.
Watch it, I promise you it is so much better than you think its going to be.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992)
Classic Teen Movie!!!
Kristy Swanson played Buffy brilliantly. And to this day I am still bemused why she didn't play Buffy in the series. I first caught this film when I was about 10. I loved it and bought it on VHS. I played it over and over again. The characters were spot on, and the acting was, well, cheesy. But the premise of this film is how fantastically camp it is. Kristy Swanson is beautiful, much more so (in my opinion) than Sarah Michelle Gellar. And the point of Buffy is that she is a sexy, popular, 'slut type' girl who is whisked from her dreams of moving to England and marrying Christian Slater. Where as Sarah Michelle Gellars Buffy was always in denial about something. Kristy's Buffy wanted to deny, but couldn't. So the will power between the two actresses doesn't match. When you watch this film, don't compare it to the series. They are both awesome, but in different leagues of each other for certain.
Wolf Creek (2005)
Crocodile Dundee with a gun
Being a slash'em gash'em fan I thought wolf creek would be really good. How wrong I was. The build up was all about scenery, the cat and dog chases were long winded and not in the slightest bit entertaining. I will admit that the two deaths that are in it were elaborate and original. But Mick was a total loser. This film ended with Ben surviving! Why? I ask you! Kill him and then you've got a hatrick of original deaths which would bump up the rating and increase the atmospheric tension that cannot be created with two deaths! All in all the acting was good, just not all the hype it was made out to be! Quite corny really!
