Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018)
Like an Anime filler episode
As someone who has read all the books and adored the first Fantastic Beast, I felt they dropped the ball with this movie.
Every HP book/movie so far had a story to tell on it's own, as well as being part of a bigger story arc. The Crimes of Grindelwald is weird as it feels like episode 1 and 2 of your new favourite tvseries. However whilst you normally only have to wait until next week (or bingewatch the whole thing on Netflix), for this one you have to wait more than 2 years.
It's a beautiful looking film, with enough lore to keep fans thrilled for days and is worth the watch. But if your (companion) not aware of everything Harry Potter, be ready for a slow movie with an unfulfilling cliffhanger.
Bad Times at the El Royale (2018)
Very suspenseful flick!
Good buildup, believable (though slightly over the top) characters and scenes that deliver just the right amount of gore makes this a great movie for "private detective voyeurs".
Johnny English Strikes Again (2018)
A fleeting friday night laugh
Johnny English returns with classic Rowan Atkinson acting that starts at the first minute of the movie. No long intros or other bullocks are to be found in this movie, which makes it short enough to be enjoyable before the humor gets stale. An excellent flick to watch before going on a night out with friends or a chill Sunday, but no more than that.
Searching (2018)
A movie that's plausible and keeps you speculating.
A good who's dunnit that keeps you on the edge of your seat, while being realistic.
The Legend of Hercules (2014)
Don't waste your time, watch the trailer.
This movie was bad. The plot was a ripoff of movies that were hits like 300 and Gladiator and the CGI looked like a movie from the 90's. Seriously, ingame footage of a modern video game looks better than this, not to mention the imagery displayed in not-ingame videos of video-games.
And although eye-candy is certainly something that I rank highly, it is not the entire movie. Sadly in this area it fails to perform as well. The characters are bland and do not invoke any kind of emotion and if they used an autocue to recite their lines I would've believed it.
In conclusion:
If you want to watch this movie, just watch the trailer and you've seen everything this movie has to offer in a tenth of the time.
