The best Star Wars movie
3 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Although I expected Ep3 with anxiety I had some low expectations because I didn't love the other prequels. Not that they were soooooo bad but after you have watched eps 4,5 and 6 it's not enough to notice how great the special effects are in order to be impressed. But when I saw Revenge of the sith I was absolutely stunned. At first I thought it was just because of the magic of the cinema view and thought that I have to watch it some more times and to sleep over it if I want to make a better assessment. So I did. And I still think it is the best of all the six Star Wars movies.

I personally prefer movies which don't end in a good and convenient manner. I like them somehow dark and confusing. Well, to be honest Ep3 is not confusing but it's definitely dark. THe darkest of all the six movies. This alone wouldn't be enough to make me love it. Here comes the first real character development in the spam of only one of the six movies. You could actually see the inner struggle Anakin had before turning to the dark side. You could actually see him somehow regret killing so many people (the tears he shed on Mustafar before Padme arrived). The movie actually showed how the way to hell is covered with good intentions and how people might eat themselves on the inside and how emptiness is all that is left in there - all because they want everything and attach too much to what and to whom they love. I probably don't need to mention that visually the movie was spectacular - it was everything a movie (not only Star wars) fan could want if he is mainly interested in battle scenes and special effects. The lightsabre fights were the best...

Of course the movie is not perfect at all and isn't for those who don't like Star Wars or are not generally fans of the commercial cinema. It wasn't one of those movies which made me look in a different way to life. Although the acting was much improved (mainly Hayden Christensen's) in comparison to the previous two movies, it was not great at all. Regularly good is the highest assessment it can get. The movie was good written - fast paced and smoothly and logically leading to what's coming next. However there were some lines which made me be ashamed I'm a Star Wars fan...

In conclusion I will say that despite its imperfections the movie deserves 10. Not because it's great, not at all. It's because Star Wars is an entirely different universe which is separated from all the other films. It felt pleasant watching it, it didn't feel very good watching the end, it felt uneasy leaving the theatre...It was simply better than the other five movies and since non of them by any rate deserves 10 I decided to give Revenge of the sith 10 because it's the last Star wars movie and it's probably the best conclusion this great saga could have had.
