Jurassic City (2015)
Not even funny. Just plain bad...
This is among the worst films I've ever seen. And I don't mean so bad it's funny. Because it's not even funny. It's just plain bad.I don't even know what's the worst part of it. The "acting", the horrible CGI, the total lack of continuity, the awful script, the talentless directing or the fact that nothing made any sense what-so-ever! And when you react to nothing making sense in a film like this, that says quite a lot. In fact, it was so bad that I decided to take the time to write this review just to save others the time it takes to see it.
Not funny, not scary, not cool, not entertaining. Just... Bad. Do NOT waste your time with this garbage. Watch a funny kind of bad film instead.
The Girl in the Café (2005)
Quiet and cute...
I usually hate films like this one. But this one is different. It's quiet, cute and innocent in its own little way. That is much due to the outstanding acting. Both Bill Nighy and Kelly Macdonald are brilliant. Nighy in particular is so convincing that it's hard to see him in other films without automatically thinking on of him as Lawrence. What first caught my interest in this film is the opening scene, which pretty much shows what you can expect from the rest of the film. And still it's not predictable in the same way as films like this one often are. It's absolutely worth giving it a chance. Who knows? Maybe you'll love it, maybe you'll hate it. But I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
Infested (2002)
My, oh my, what a waste of time!
This is without doubt one of the worst films ever made. There is absolutely nothing about this film that doesn't stink. The only positive thing one can say about it is that it's funny. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. As if the hopeless acting wasn't enough, the rules seem to change all the time. If something doesn't fit with the plot, let's change it for just one scene. And the effects? Don't even get me started! Seriously! The so-called effects aren't good for anything other than laughs. But then again, that goes for the entire film. Bad acting, bad directing, bad script, bad film. If you want to watch a crappy horror-film, just for the laughs, this is the film you want. If you want to see a film that is actually worth seeing, go for something else...
Hot Fuzz (2007)
Hot Fuzz
I loved Shaun of the Dead. I loved Spaced. So I was not too keen on seeing Hot Fuzz. I was afraid I'd get disappointed. My expectations were sky high. However, I was NOT disappointed. On the contrary, I was positively surprised.
This film is no less than a blast. I enjoyed it from beginning to end, and when it was over, I wished it would've lasted for another hour. The script is great, the actors do a great job and the fun never stops.
It starts out like an episode of an English TV-drama. It stays that way for quite some time, but is sometimes interrupted by grotesque murders. Then, when you start getting disappointed, everything goes nuts.
If you liked Shaun of the Dead and/or spaced, this film will be your film of the year.
Altered Species (2001)
This was just TOO awful
This film is easily one of the worst ones I have ever seen. And I don't mean that in a good way. We wanted to see a crappy horror/thriller, so we picked the one that seemed to be the lousiest in the store. For once, the film was everything we'd expected. And more! (or should I say less?)
The actors look like they are reading their lines from posters behind the camera. The so-called special effects are created by putting red see-through plastic in front of the camera to give the impression that we are seeing through the eyes of the killer rats. And the script? Don't even get me started on the script... And just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, it turns out that the first part of the film was Oscar-material compared to the ending.
Take it from me, this film is hilarious if you're into crappy horror-films, but if you want a GOOD film, keep on looking. This is not for you.
