Revolution (2012)
Sounds interesting at first, but it's awful
I heard about this show in a podcast, I'm interested in all post-apocalyptic stories and when I heard the premise of the show it sounded interesting enough to give it a shot.
First episode: seems promising, although I would have preferred that they had dedicated the pilot to the days directly after "the blackout", instead after about 3 minutes they go forward 15 years, here we are presented with the future, a happy little farm community where everything looks perfect, then we are introduced to the main characters (this is where it starts to go downhill quickly), a hot chick and some twilight reject, what I thought would be a nice show similar to the walking dead (without zombies) out of the blue becomes a show tailored to 15 year old girls, a few minutes later we are introduced to some other twilight reject, they are all perfectly groomed, wear makeup, are always clean, have outfits taken out of a modeling catalogue, etc. It's so fake it hurts.
The story has more holes than a pasta strainer, is it the electricity that doesn't work? or is the electronics? some guy says that "physics stopped making sense" or something to that effect, but wtf? is it the stuff that was already built that stopped working? could you build new electric systems from scratch?they have firearms, do internal combustion engines work? how about steam engines? what about electric impulses in nervous systems? gravity seems to work. In the end, the more you think about it the less it makes sense, unless it's some sort of voodoo curse or something like that.
Then there's the writing, as lazy as can be, the dying father tells his daughter to find his brother, all the information he gives her is his name and that he lives in Chicago, now, I would think it would probably take her most of the first season to find this guy (which still would be hard to believe, but plausible) but oh no, after what seems like a couple of days they get to Chicago (apparently it's quite easy to travel in this world without any means of transportation) and after that, they walk into a bar and the first guy they talk to is the guy they where looking for...seriously??? If someone gave me that information right now, with google, phones, internet and everything, it would still probably take me a day or two to figure out where the guy lives and find him.
Still here? I could talk about the acting but it's not worth it, it's probably worse than the writing, which is saying a lot.
The only surprise is that "Gus Fring" from breaking bad(don't know the actor's name) is on this show, poor guy, going from an amazing show like BB to this suckfest.
I wanted to like this show, but it's just awful, I managed to watch the pilot and got about half way through the second episode, but that was enough, I couldn't take it any more. Don't waste your time on this.
Midnight Madness (1980)
Probably one of the worst movies ever made
This movie is mind-numbingly awful, it makes you wonder how it's possible that people actually got paid for doing this, it's that bad. The story makes no sense, the actors seem to be doing a bad job on purpose, not to mention that it is as cheesy as can be (and not in a good way).
I remember watching this as a kid and decided to watch it just for the nostalgia (knowing it would not be a good movie), but wow, I wasn't expecting it to be THIS bad.
You will cringe every time you hear those fat twins laugh, makes you want to put a fist through the TV.
The only thing noteworthy is that you can see Michael J Fox and Pee Wee Herman before they were famous, it's amazing that this steaming pile of movie s**t didn't end their careers.
