I am an old "talkie" movie aficionado. I enjoy these movies because of their camp, their history, and the manner in which one can glean days goneby. One can see the changes in mores, manners of speech, modes of living, changes in all sorts of styles -- clothing, cars, methods of travel, etc. I was born on May 26, 1937, in Chicago, though one year later my family moved back to NJ from whence they had come. I attended parochial schools through grade 12, went to Secretarial School, worked in Manhattan, got married in 1964, and now live the good life at the New Jersey seashore with my husband. We have three sons. I LOVE learning about the oldies -- especially talkies from the late 20's through the mid forties.

The Homestretch (1947)
This site sounds like it will be enjoyable because I LOVE old movies.

I saw this movie when I was a kid, and it really impressed me. Of course, my tastes were simple; but I thought both Cornel Wilde and Maureen O'Hara were gorgeous, and I was just beginning to "appreciate" the romance between a man and a woman. Also, I was still young enough to appreciate horses. It will live in my memory as one of my young favorites. I guess this movie was made in Cornel Wilde's "heyday." Maureen O'Hara seems to have had a longer "shelf life." She was still good in "Only the Lonely." I was sorry to see that Wilde died several years ago of leukemia. I read O'Hara's bio, "'Tis Herself," and enjoyed it. Also when I was a kid, I enjoyed O'Hara with Henreid in "The Spanish Main."
