The actors and animators LOVE Mario
11 April 2023
I just wanna say thanks to the team who made this. You can tell everyone who worked on this cared so much about Mario franchise.

The voice actors really gave it their best and played their roles with so much pride.

The different worlds that were built were delightful and cool to see.

I'm so happy. I had many doubts but I'm so pleased with the outcome as a big fan of Nintendo.

Jack Black, Chris Pratt and Keegan. They really put on a great performance.

Also princess Peach and DK.

I don't know. Sometimes you get so sad when things become a cash grab. My childhood was Mario games and I love them so much. So to see everyone put their heart and soul into this really made me happy. :)

Joker (I) (2019)

Send in, the clown

Joker Review: 9/10

Joker is a dark take on a psychopath whom you might end up feeling heavy sympathy for during the film. That sympathy gradually turns into shock mixed with fear as it progresses. I'm a fan of Phoenix's portrayal. It's completely unique and his own. Joker is one of my favorite villains and I thought that this film did a great case study on him. Be warned it's not a kids movie. Joker is insane and you should be ready for a heavy handed drama.

90's kid who grew up with Pokémon (liked it)
14 May 2019
If you like Pokémon and I mean even the original 150. You'll enjoy this movie. Ryan Reynolds carried this movie hard, but not so hard you disliked the main character. He's quite decent.

The only critics I could have would be nit picky. And general story related questions. I would have wanted a bit more travel and been able to see more Pokémon. You probably see 35-50 different types. It's fun film enjoy. Don't build it up so much.

Needless to Say, I'm Keeping Her In Check
16 February 2019
It's not perfect. And that's what makes it perfect.

This is my favorite of the spiderman movies by far. The combination of the unique animation, story line, and music compliments it very well. There were times I was bobbing my head to the screen because the beats were so good. The side spiderman characters were not useless and just added in as cannon fodder, they all had their purpose.

There were twists and turns that I did not actually expect I liked that.

They kept the comic book spiderman and threw out the rest. Breaking the fourth wall. Humourous jokes. It's all there. The main character doesn't become perfect right away, he makes many, many mistakes. You watch him grow into what he needs to be.

The villain has a very real, and personal reason for acting the way he does. The hero deals with death and sorrow in a believable way.

It doesn't paint the superhero life as easy and perfect, it shows the human side and the part that hurts.

There is no useless dialogue. Everything is said with intent. Everything is done for the sake of enhancing the story.

Made in Abyss (2017– )

What's that lurking in the shadows...?
31 October 2018
Made in Abyss looks childish. If you think it is for kids. You are Grosly mistaken! Stop that train of thought before it's too late.

Basic plot: it's about a girl and a robot boy who decide to travel down "the abyss" a giant hole for spoiler reasons.

I can calmly say there were Scenes, ney episodes that left me speechless and utterly dumbstruck.

The show is beautifully animated. And to top it all off the plot is completely original and very well fleshed out. You'll enjoy the unique traits of each character and the diverse pacing of the story.

If you are a fan of sci fi adventure, studio ghibli, or are just looking to get your sick kicks. Made in Abyss is for you.

It's not over yet...
15 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Go look at the ratings for the second one.

Welp. As a big fan of the original Jurassic Park. This one has a snappy beginning, lags in the first middle and then goes for it near second half and the end.

It's a lead up to another movie. Where dinosaurs live among people.

It's hard to believe some of the parts. Like the girl running Away and not getting eaten. However the dinosaurs were done well. The CGI was good. It's jusf a fun movie. Nothing too special.

Remarkably Terrible
11 May 2018
You must choose.

Make a funny movie.

Or make a serious movie.

Or.... make Something completely cringe worthy to devastate fans for ever.

This was like watching the franchise burn.

Isle of Dogs (2018)

Quirky, genuine and deep (dog owners especially)
7 April 2018
Wes Anderson does it again with another's superb story told in the classic Wes style.

Scene set up and attention to character detail deserves an Oscar all in its own. Beautiful. And all on mostly a trash island.

You enjoy the characters you feel for them and the relation is easy to comprehend. With dubs for the humans and the dogs speaking English it adds a layer of intricusy and a often humorous perspective on our canine compatriots.

Will you like it?

If you like Wes Anderson movies. You'll like it .

If you like Japan. You'll like it.

If you like dogs. You'll love it.

If you like attention to detail. You'll love it.

I was so into it, I was yelling at the screen for most of it...
9 March 2018
A Silent Voice Is more than just a really good high school romantic drama. It is a captivating love story that deals with depression and friendship in a remarkably relatable way.

Without spoiling too much. I just really appreciate the believably of most of the film. Unlike Your Name where I found some parts to be overly cheesy or slow paced. A Silent Voice offers up nice character development and introduces a whole array of interesting side characters to the plot.

I do really like the idea of having a deaf friend. I've often thought about what that would be like and the whole learning sign language and writing on a book to communicate. It offers a-not often seen- perspective of that life. I found it quite invigorating and motivating to step up my own life.

Fantastic Musical ... it went by too fast
1 March 2018
The musical score in this movie blows La La Land out of the water. Everyone can actually sing and its amazing to watch on the screen. The choreography is quite disciplined as well.

I would say I would have liked it to be longer so that the story could be told in more detail instead of the general overlay that they did instead.

It was a fun ride from start to finish. I'd watch it again and you'll be listening to the soundtrack for weeks after. Hugh Jackman confidently leads the charge with stellar stage presence.

The Patriot (2000)
7/10
The best American Revolution Movie Out There.....So Far
1 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
So if you are looking for a movie about 100% historical facts, go watch a documentary.

If you are looking for the best representation of the American Revolution from a Militia standpoint. Then watch the Patriot. Though understand that the story is fictional in itself. However the uniforms, mannerisms, battle observations, military movements and procedures of war are pretty accurate.

I think what the Patriot does it get to the heart of why and how the Revolution was founded. It was founded on a desire to get Independence and a desire to prove that the British were not all they were cracked up to be. The Continental Army was unorganized in large part and barley battle ready at best. Meanwhile the British Army was the main powerhouse of the world and their Navy, boasting ships with 80 guns.

If you want a movie that tells the story of a man who doesn't want to fight and then being forced to fight due to extreme measures taken by a reckless British Officer, then watch this. I think this evil officer in particular was inspired by the Scottish and German Mercenary armies who fought for the British and made the Americans run every time they got to the battle. They were also known for killing anyone who surrendered and raping American women. Not that the American hands were clean, but this inspired it for sure.

Were all British evil? Absolutely not, and they actually speak to that in the movie, Cornwallis doesn't like the way one of his Officers acts. Do they sometimes show the British soliders as not being as skilled as they should be? Yes, but at the same time, that is one of the ways the Americans started to win, was not fight the way the British did. With order and Officers leading the way and always giving orders. The Americans took to Gorilla style warefare. Go read 1776 for some good knowledge.

Overall, Good movie. Historically accurate in most parts. Does it show the British in a bad light at times, yes, but thats because its an American perspective on the war and we Americans don't really like being owned by another country.
