Midnight Mass (2021)
Believers... come on now
An AMAZING series. Deliciously deceptive. And THAT is, in my opinion the true source of many of the very negative reviews... the deception. They blame their distaste for the show on long, boring dialog, but I sense an anger percolating beneath many of them, and a desire to blemish the show, lower its rating, and steer as many as they can away from it.
What is the deception? Well, I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen the series yet, but for those who have seen it, you know what I'm talking about. But I will say I was pleasantly shocked when I realized where the show was going. For me, and many others, I'm sure, the shock was pleasant because we really have no stake in the game -- just seeking entertainment. However, for those who were lulled during the first few episodes into feeling this show was a tale about confirming what they desire most in life to be confirmed, what a disgruntling letdown it must've been for them when it became increasingly clear, as the story progressed, that they had been masterfully setup, then deceived: the show purposely worked toward unconfirming and revealing how dangerous their unchecked certainty and desire for confirmation can be dangerously misleading. With such certainty and desire for confirmation, we often see only what we desire to see.

Left With a Lump in My Throat
Oops! Just finished the series, and I have the same emotional lump in my throat that I had when I finished House. This lets me know that the characters and situations were extremely well written and acted, and their lives really meant something to me. I'll surely miss them. It's great to know, though, that in this digital age and Amazon Prime that revisiting these lives is just a click away. :) A great show leaves you feeling that you've changed, as if you actually lived through those experiences. Well, we do so as an observer, but the great writing and acting make it all the more real. Kudos and thanks to the ENTIRE cast and crew. Thank you for a beautiful experience.

At Every Turn... Can It Get Any Worse?
I kept cringing in embarrassment for the writers, director, actors, everyone, even myself for watching. At every turn, I was asking myself if they were joking, and if soon they would let everyone in on the joke, but nope!... They weren't joking.
American Horror Story (2011)
Season 9 -- Gratuitous Violence
AHS used to be excellent, full of surprises. Now, in season 9, pretty much over-the-top junk. Soooooooo disappointed.
Good Omens (2019)
Most of the 10/10 MUST be PAID or friends of the show!!
I was soooo looking forward to this show. Great actors. POOR execution. I'm certain that most of the 10/10 reviews are paid by marketing or are friends of actors, producers, directors. In time, you'll see the rating drop from the current 8.7 to a more reasonable 5.0.
Arrival (2016)
The IMDB rating of 8.0 is A LIE!
There's NO WAY the real overall rating for this movie can be 8.0 or anywhere close. Just scan through the reviews. Sooooooo many 1/10s. I gave it a 2/10 because at least the movie made it clear from the start that it was going to be unrealistic (in the sense that it didn't spur my imagination into believing--DESPITE the amazing star power and skill), so within about five minutes, I decided to skip through--something I rarely ever do because I like to fully immerse myself in the world of a movie. In the case of Arrival, I tried, but it was very quickly very painful. I felt that I would be putting myself through a HUGE waste of time if I watched the entire movie without skipping. So so so so glad that I DIDN'T follow through on my initial instinct to see the movie at the cinema because the Arrival trailers were so good. Again, NO WAY this movie can be rated 8/10!
