I take offense
29 July 2013
I saw Awkward's pilot and was incredibly deeply offended. The show makes suicide seem like a joke, and I felt physically sick when Sadie told Jenna it was for attention. I hated how Jenna had to convince others she was not "crazy" for it. The writers were a little too insensitive with that storyline. Sadie being the mean girl or not, it was NOT okay to make it seem like suicide is for attention rather than a result from a serious mental illness. It was an ignorant thing to do and I really can't watch this show any longer after this occurrence. How do you have show such an offensive plot to such a young demographic?

perfect show

This show saved my life. I love it, it instilled passion and motivation in me when I had lost it all due to my illness. It made me care again. I was intrigued by the plot, mystery, and drama. Somehow it gave me my life back. The characters are all so relatable. I identify the most with Hanna and Spencer. Most of all, it covers REAL issues. Hanna's ED, her dad leaving, Mike's depression after the parents divorce, Spencer's struggle to be perfect in her family, Emily coming out to her parents. This show has a lot of depth. It's fantastic. Please watch this show! You won't regret it. It can be very intense but also comedic at times. I think that everyone can relate to at least one character.
