Nostradamus and Me (2004)
Fast and fun I loved this film.
I have rarely watched a short where is was possible to have a full emotional experience, but Nostradamus and Me definitely proved what a short film can do in as little as 15 minutes. Nora is such a unique character, but one almost anyone can relate to. The party scene was exhilarating, and the film fires some of the best one liners I've heard in a long time. I grew up in the eighties, and the film captures the zeitgeist beautifully and vibrantly, without ever veering into cheesy nostalgia. It all came rushing back: the fear of nuclear war, the year Halley's comet came, and the rush of all those hormones! The music and the acting add to a pitch perfect tone. I saw this film at the awards ceremony at the Kerry Film Festival where John Boorman chose it for the grand prize of Best Director. Well deserved in my opinion!
