Ragnarok: Ragnarok (2023)
This is the worst ending of a show since Game of Thrones.
You can't just use the "it was all in his head" logic when there are literally 100s of plotholes where something supernatural happens with Magne not present. So there also wasn't a monster snake, the hikers didn't die, the electrician lady wasn't murderer and all the other stuff that happened in that village was ALL IN HIS HEAD.
Man, that's the dumbest excuse for avoiding an expensive ending. Or maybe they didn't wanna kill the bad guys (who I thought were more likable in the end than the real 'heroes').
So they left us with this dumb "grow up" and "it's all in his head" ending, love conquers everything, bla bla bla. Get lost.
Whitney Cummings: Jokes (2022)
The Gringo Mami
What in the hell did I just watch? I mean, the Andrew Schulz special was bad, but compared to this it was a masterpiece.
This mid-40 comedian (sorry, 39 of course *cough*) should have her picture under "physical comedy", what once was an okay roast comic and surely here and there a funny one, turned into a gymnast, except the gymnast is out of breath after every interpretation of a joke.
She thinks weird faces and movements, plus presenting the V constantly, equals funny. First part is just sex jokes, really bad ones. She is into old people, then suddenly she is into young guys. For the sake of comedy.
The second half is about stuff you did as a kid. Wild, right? Remember all the dangerous stuff we did as a kid? Wow. I remember *clap clap clap* But there is no joke.
Gringo Papi is the standard for the worst comedy special out there. But at least it was just 30 minutes. This is Whitney Cummings' 5th special, she should be good at this. Or just better than Schaub. But apparently she confused this one with a podcast. I didn't laugh once, I can at least laugh at Brendan Schaub ironically. This is worse.
Resident Evil (2022)
Resident Evil - The franchise that keeps giving
Resident Evil always fascinated me. The games were great, yet somehow the movies and TV shows are absolutel trash. The movies keep getting worse and worse and while the latest movie remake was at least closer to the original games, it was also really bad.
But at least the movies had Milla Jovovich, a dime piece to look at. Now this shows was apparently made under the premise to be as diverse as possible. The main character is a woman of color and of course she has _that_ hairdo (because that's apparently the female poc lead style). Remember Albert Wesker? Oh, you are in for a surprise. Unless you read the cast info. Of course a diverse cast is nothing bad, but somehow it feels like that was like a priority? It just doesn't feel natural.
Anyways, this show is bad. Not even "so bad, it's funny", just bad. And boring. God, it's so boring. And the female lead is just so bad as well. It's probably not even her fault, the script is just bad. In the beginning she should've died at least twice, yet plot armor thickens. Or she should be a vegetable because the head trauma should've been immense. Naaah, it'll be fine.
If you actually sit through this whole show, you will never get the hours back. Better rewatch The Wire ft. New Albert Wesker. Or The Sopranos. RIP Paulie Walnuts.
The Orville: A Tale of Two Topas (2022)
This episode made me quit The Orville
Since all the Star Trek shows were quite disappointing, The Orville was a breath of fresh air. I became a fan of the show, there was great humor and they handled many topics pretty great.
Like I said I started watching season 3 of The Orville as a fan. It took just five episodes for them to kill it for me completely. The humor? Gone. The political topics? Like a shovel to the head. And they completely Disneyfied the show. Ed is a completely different character by now. The whole "I has a kid now, I has feelings" is so misplaced.
It's quite ironic that a Star Trek show (New Worlds) is now better than The Orville. The Orville used to be fun. RIP.
Foundation (2021)
Wat
I've not read the books and this is so confusing to me. Is any background knowledge expected? I watched GoT with ease, but this is so wild. Random people talking, people giving some person evil looks, sci fi mumbo jumbo, timewarps, wormholes, towers, people, paintings, confusion.
I love Sci-Fi, but apparently this is one of those "it will all make sense once you've seen the whole season". Too bad I won't. Quit after first episode.
Two Face: The Grey (2020)
Fake, and even if it wasn't, awful production
It's so amateurish, that even if they had a video of Jesus' birth, nobody would believe them. The amount of effects used reminds me of shows you stumble upon when you can't sleep. They use the echo-effect literally every 2 minutes, you could make a drinking game out of it.
And yes, obviously it's completely fake, there is a blurry pic of a human in a mask and now we're all believers. Alrighty.
Zombiag, Don't Play with the Walking Dead (2011)
Move on, nothing to see here
You don't wanna watch this movie, trust me. No, not even in an ironic way.
Chris D'Elia: No Pain (2020)
Comedy is dead. At least in LA
Wow, the kind of specials that are coming out from LA. Kreischer, Segura, Schaub, Rogan - what a mess. None of these specials were funny, there were maybe 1-2 chuckles at best. And now D'Elia, same problem. These guys are on each others podcasts all day, even during the pandemic. They are so cool, they don't care. But maybe, just maybe, they should spend some time working on their sets, because they are god awful. But the teenage girls will still come to see Chris 'I want to be an action star' D'Elia, so he thinks it's fine.
Chris 'I hate when people post workout videos' D'Elia takes breaks from posting shirtfree Instagram videos to block people who criticize him. Imagine this. The self-proclaimed last defenders of free speech are so thin-skinned they will block youn instantly on their social media. Well, he can't block me here. I give this special a 2, because Schaub's special has to be worse than this and I can't give Schaub a 0.
Thank god Louis CK is back to show these people how jokes work. Also sometimes it's good to joke about yourself, not just the other guys in the gym and whereever he met them, there were at least 20 in this special. Also the hair looks like that of a homeless cat.
Brendan Schaub: You'd Be Surprised (2019)
The best part was the end credits
Schaub isn't funny, he is a high school jock and bully. He wears ridiculous clothes, expensive watches and is surrounded by Yes-people. He isn't able to take in criticism and constantly treats the people around him as step stones for his career. The only one who finds anything Schaub says funny are people who work for/with him and himself. Unwatchable, same as his podcasts.
Adam Devine: Best Time of Our Lives (2019)
Funny actor, unfunny comedian
While I quite like him in movies, as long as there is a strong cast around him, this was so unfunny, I had to turn it off after 20 minutes. It felt like watching a friend of yours first time on stage being a comedian. It was cringeworthy, unfunny and worst of all: boring af. Hilariously everybody in the theater of course cheered and laughed, they paid money and apparently once you reach a certain level of stardom they will laugh at anything. You can see this phenomenon with real stars like Bill Burr or Louis CK, where people even after mediocre jokes behave as if they just heard the funniest bit ever.
I only gave this a three, because there is even worse comedy. Just check out Brendan Schaub. At least Adam is likeable and seems to have fun. Brenda Schwaaub is at least 2 levels below and hates us homeless cats.
Unicorn Store (2017)
Dull
It's like they remade The Secret Life of Walter Mitty with Brie Larson, thinking they could make an inspiring movie that screams "Follow your dreams"!
Everyone in this movie should've done just that and we could've avoided this desaster.
Jim Jefferies: This Is Me Now (2018)
Quite boring, moved it to the second monitor
I watched this on my computer and after like 25 minutes I moved it to my 2nd monitor and decided to do something else primarily. The jokes are okayish, but not very original. There wasn't a single moment where I actually laughed or, you now, exhaled air through my nose loudly.
I watched his TV show exactly once and turned it off after 10 minutes. It was pure garbage, non-funny and nowhere near the old Jim stuff. Of course there is a difference between a stand up and a weekly show (is it weekly? no idea). But then again he has writers for that show.
Anyways, he seems more tame, maybe life wore him down. Maybe he has to do specials, but doesn't really want to. The party in Hollywood stuff where he met de Niro: Is it just me or did he tell this somewhere else already? Because I knew the part, I knew he would pretend to be a director, I knew his agent would jump in etc. Maybe he told this in some YouTube video, but that must've been at least 4-6 months old, because I didn't really watch any Jim stuff recently.
Overall it was a 4/10, but he is still likable, so 5/10
Search Party (2016)
Interesting show, but doesn't really know what it wants to be
I watched the first season over the course of a few days. It never really got to the point where I couldn't wait to watch the next episode. It was more like a filler when I had watched everything else.
The series about Dori, a girl who wants to find a girl she barely knew in college. She starts to annoy her boyfriend, the girl's family and basically even the viewer with her obsession. While kinda cute I never actually like the character, actually over the course of the show her actions make her more and more unlikeable. Who I really like were the two John's (real names), one is playing the boyfriend and the other her gay friend.
I won't spoil any more of the content, they meet all kind of crazy people, many of them really one-dimensional, and none of them really interesting. And here is the biggest problem I had with the show: Most of the characters are too flat for a drama, yet too unfunny for a comedy. Imagine Modern Family, where every character is as they are right now, but nobody ever says anything funny. Or imagine Breaking Bad where you can't take the plot serious because the characters are like from a sitcom. That's my biggest dilemma. There is an actress in there and she is supposed to be a bad actress, I think? Is that supposed to be funny? Because she never says anything funny. But she doesn't matter to the plot as well. Why is she there? Why does she have scenes? Nobody knows and her scenes don't matter. She is just there because she is a blonde, good-looking actress and the lead isn't as attractive enough I guess. Also so the lead can talk to people sometimes and drive them crazy.
If there is a season 2, I'm gonna watch it, because of the two John's. Not because of the plot. And I'm gonna watch it on my 2nd monitor while doing something more important on my main monitor. 6,5/10
