Superman & Lois (2021)
Started off awesome, went down, came back strong and just keeps going... down.
I love the whole universe and everything that makes different realities come together. The geeky side of Superman and the flight lessons is what I think of when I remember this show.
I'm really annoyed at how they tell the story.
Someone does something. Lois wants to do her thing. Clark won't stop in her way but is ultimately right. Something drastic happens and they need to react big time. Then something new happens and Lois gets even more agitated, Clark backs away. Lois realises her fault, and the family comes together. It's just tiresome and well-trodden. Can't we get a new formula to make this show better?
The Last of Us: When You're Lost in the Darkness (2023)
Love it. Absolutely love it. Pure bliss
I was really looking forward to this show. But I had my doubts. Really had my doubts.
To me, The Last of Us is the absolute best game I've ever had the joy of experience. Period. The story, the characters. The real fungus in ants, and what if...
We get some additional storylines to add to the characters, and that's nice. I feel it's in line with what could've been done in the game. But it also treats the action a bit different. For example, instead of the car hitting Joel's and Tommy's car, a piece of airplane does the trick. Sarah being black in the show instead of white in the game - but she really played the part to perfection; great actress. It almost was.. more than what the game did and you got the same feeling like when Sarah died in the game. A rare thing to duplicate it when we expect it.
The actor playing Tommy is almost a spitting image of him. Scary and perfect - however not with a gun but with his trademark rifle. Awesome.
And the cordyceps in the mouth - yuck and so very creepy!!! Great job!!!!
They are continuing to add stuff and make some changes here and there, but really not anything that truly matters. And the ending! THE ENDING! WHAAAAAAT! The clickers in the distance, Depeche Mode. Code 80 guys, CODE 80!!!! MOVE!
But what I really, REALLY love about this, is that they incorporated lines from the game into the episode and in the right places.
Man, this is going to be AWESOME and I can't WAIT!
Thank you.
The Batman (2022)
If you have low attention span, this is not a movie for you.
Generally I like super hero movies, but this is so slow and melancholic. Did not enjoy it and had to skip big chunks of it because it just felt bland and boring like a beer that's been sitting out for a couple of days - the source is great, but after a while it's flat and no structure. Watch it if you've got nothing else to do, but it was waaaaaay too long for a movie. Yawn.
Jumanji: The Next Level (2019)
Came back to it a few years later. Grew on me
I like it. Not as funny as the first or even the original, but it's a simple and entertaining movie. I like how Bethany is written - she's a blonde character who actually has some brain and who can act on her own, instead of the classic blonde that's only in it for the looks. It's nice.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Disappointed.
I had hoped that they spend 20 years coming up with a mind-blowing movie, like The Matrix did when it first came out in cinemas. But no. More CGI-bullcrap and explosions and generic action movie template. Not any new, fresh imagination, no awesome revelations, no nothing. Sure, there was this part with Trinity, but it seems so bad and out of place and not 20 years of waiting worthy. There aren't enough substance in this movie. It's yet again quantity over quality, and not respecting the source material anymore.
If you must make a new movie, at least make one that redefines the movie world like the original did. You are the victim of what you tried to avoid - being one with the masses, not being the Chosen One. This movie is just an assimilation, a decoy, a part of the Matrix. Don't be The Matrix. Be the Neo.
Supernatural: Carry On (2020)
No matter what you've done, you're only human
I loved it. It doesn't matter that you've had a battle with God. At the end of the day you're only human.
