As another fan put it. "A labor of love."
1 December 2022
The meanness, the nastiness, it really isn't necessary. This was a fan film made by someone with a deep love of Twin Peaks.

The dialogue and scenes are quirky much like you'd expect. Charlotte and Nico's performances really stand out. These two young talents have a bright and wonderful future ahead of them.

Are their technical issues which could be better, yes. Are there scenes that were shot in houses, hotel rooms, and offices which obviously stand out? Yes.

There were numerous technical and personal setbacks the director faced. Despite the odds, he brought his vision to life.

Can you, who mock and deride him, do better with the same equipment and the same budget?

Cameron Cloutier is a better filmmaker than I am, know why? Because he got off his butt and made a movie. Which is more than I've ever done.

There's heart in this fan film.

Millennials and Gen Z desperately needed this movie
21 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
8/10

Repression, regret, and envy.

These are the core themes of X.

Cattle live boring uneventful lives until one day they're gone. There's a reason Wayne and his makeshift family drive around them. They are not cattle. They are the counterculture. Sure they have their flaws but deep down all of them are friendly, kind, and passionate.

Is it any coincidence the house they're renting is full of warmth and light? Compared to the older couple who represent a repressed, regretful, and ultimately jealous society who only manage to find their jollies and bond by stifling, by "snuffing out," the people who relate to their archaic values. It's a culture war to them and they're trying to preserve society.

Only then does light, warmth, and passion emerge in their home.

My one issue with this movie is that it's anvilicious when it doesn't need to be. Bobby Lynne, Wayne, Jackson, and the older couple TELL us through dialogue the themes of the film which I stated above.

Completely unnecessary when it does a decent job of conveying it via visual storytelling.

It ends on a positive note. The counterculture strikes back. The boomers lose, the young people and their progressive values endure after a harrowing battle.

We millennials and Gen Z'ers desperately needed this movie in these trying times.

Nice homages to Psycho and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, too.

Clarice: The Silence Is Over (2021)
Season 1, Episode 1
6/10
A little rough around the edges, but it has potential. Don't write it off yet.
15 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What stuck out immediately were the casting choices. They did well with the girl who portrays Clarice, I swear she's the spitting image of Jodie in some scenes.

The actor who's being slept on, imho, is who they got to play Ardelia Mapp. I swear she captures the inflection, vocal quirks and mannerisms of the original actress so well. It's actually incredible.

Cudlitz is almost unrecognizable as Paul Krendler which shows off his range. As of right now Krendler seems to be a layered character. Has he really let go of his grudge against Clarice for turning him down, and is trying to remain as professional as he can despite the awkward tension between them, and the politics of the FBI? We shall see.

I wasn't bothered by the nostalgia, I thought the recreations were pretty decent for television production values.

There are a few things that worry me. I fear this show will try to emulate Hannibal wherein we watch the characters slip into nihilism and moral decay. Silence of The Lambs had levity, it wasn't all dark and depressing.

I also don't want this to become like Criminal Minds, because there's only so much Clarice can take with her ptsd.

I'm also on the fence about Catherine Martin. On the one hand, it makes sense contextually for her to have lost a lot of weight since she attributes that as the cause of her victim hood. On the other, I'm worried this is just the Hollywood machine at work not wanting plus sized actors because of sexist beauty standards.

Overall I give the pilot and the show a 6.5. Hopefully my rating will increase.

Hooking Up (2020)

A very charming heartfelt little movie.
10 September 2020
Charming, sweet, cute, mature little rom com. Sure it follows the typical formula but Brittany Snow and Sam Richardson elevate this movie from something that could've very easily been forgettable to a level of charm that'll certainly warm your heart. It doesn't fall victim to the usual contrivances or un-deserved endings you'd expect of the genre. The characters grow as people, not only that but they actively decide to better themselves

Definitely a must watch. It's now on my list of favorite romantic comedies

Great character driven movie
4 July 2013
8.5/10 This movie is phenomenal. It shows how people of diverse backgrounds can come together and start to rely on each other as if they were family. Folms like this and Halloween prove that you don't need special effects or sex to make a great picture. Sometimes the best movies are character driven ones with simple plots and characters who mind their surroundings and think on their feet. The acting is great and you can really see the character's personalities! In my very humble opinion this is much better than Night of the Living Dead and The Walking dead. Very rarely do you see this much dependency between characters, and this much resourcefulness in a movie. A true Masterpiece in every sense of the word!
